Depression Meals

As a spin-off to the What do you eat? thread, I'm starting this new topic on depression meals.
What do you guys eat when you literally can't be fucked to make anything difficult? No fancy instagram nonsense please. Just the sad basics.
I like wholegrain seeded toast with either natural peanut butter or baked beans, because it's nutritious, filling, and takes no effort.
Also miso soup in a thermos flask with generous squirts of sriracha, because the spice gives me endorphins.

I mean if I'm being honest, when I'm VERY low I will stand by the fridge and eat a tortilla and a handful of grapes, or go to a drive through and get french fries.

Back when I was on a mexican kick, I would pull a corn tortilla out the fridge, open up a can of refried beans, spread that all over with a knife, pour on some salsa from a jar and then roll it up into a cigar like a sad yet spicy crepe.

Delivery pizza.
Instant mashed potatoes.
Straight up spoonfuls of peanut butter.I struggle to even eat when depressed so it has to be something really easy.

I keep a box of hardboiled eggs from Costco in the fridge.

Soup. Not good, homemade soup. Canned cream of chicken, the stuff that is that weird yellow glob until it's diluted with water.

Chips and salsa is a valid meal. Fight me.
Other runners in my *fuck it" repertoire:
Can of chili.
Can of anything.
Cereal for dinner.
Egg noodles with milk. -
Rice cooked with/in a tin of tomatoes. Salt, pepper, pinch of sugar.
Add leftover veg as required.
Or potato curry - literally just fry potato chunks in spices then add tinned tomatoes.

I almost forgot my own personal genius invention: "toast sticks"
Take toast
slice lengthwise to create multiple strips
open hummus tub
pour some kind of chilli/hotsauce into hummus tub
dip toast sticks into tub for a filling albeit sad, protein-rich depression meal.
If you don't finish the entire hummus tub in a single sitting you're not doing it right.
Carrot/cucumber sticks are for suckers.

1 can of refried beans
1 small can of diced green chiles
shredded cheese(personally go with cheddar, but most works just as well)
Heat in pot so everything blends together
Tortilla or straight of the bowl if you're looking to be somewhat carb smart
DRENCH WITH BAJA SAUCE FROM TACO BELL THAT YOU CAN BUY IN BOTTLES NOWConsume like the disgusting piece of shit that you are.

If I can afford it, I get carne asada tacos from the Mexican place when I am feeling down. If I have extra funds I even get a side of guac.
If I don't have any money, I'll just find whatever sounds good that we happen to have in the house.

Take one box of Kraft Mac n Cheese. Use half & half instead of milk, real butter, 2 slices of Kraft singles plus a couple of slices of sharp cheddar (or Velveeta if you like it gooey). Prepare the mac 'n cheese, then toss in two or three hot dogs that have been cut into quarter inch circles, and one of those tiny single-serving size cans of peas. Combine well, nuke for a minute, then enjoy! You can swap out the hot dogs for half a can of Spam that has been cubed and fried until crispy on all sides.

Realistically? A bag of potato chips, or drive-thru.
A super easy comfort food recipe is pasta aglio e olio, though. While you boil a box of pasta al dente, heat half a cup of olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat, crush a head of garlic into the oil and brown it (most recipes tell you to slice it, but that's a suboptimal way to get the garlic evenly spread, I say), and toss the pasta into the garlic-infused oil. Juice a large lemon into it. Most recipes tell you to add a ton of parsley, and you can do that if you want, but it's not crazy necessary. You have a meal full of carbs and heart-helpful garlic that takes maybe twelve minutes to wake.

Hmm, sounds interesting.
Wolf brand no beans is the best choice.
ETA: it is not remotely healthy but it is solidly cheap comfort food that will fill you up.

When I get depressed, I drown myself in work. Including cooking. Also, non-carb stuff because when I’m down the cure is to get further down.
