Just checking interest in a concept.

Hello!
I was wondering where people's interests lie in the following concept for a superhero/comic based mu*.
- DC/Marvel/OCs allowed.
*Taking place in one of the following eras, represented by decades: 70s, 80s, or 90s. (Please let me know which you prefer in the poll below.)
Basically, I'm just curious if there'd be a particular era people would want to play their favorite comic book/superhero sort of character. that I haven't personally seen done. I've never run a game myself, so, not sure that ever be in the cards for me personally. So, yeah, just really curious!

Truefax:
In school, we had an assignment to take a myth and re-write it set in a different era.
I took the story of Thrym stealing Mjolnir and Thor dressing as Freyja (fun story since it shows the Norse saw a man dressing in women's clothing as nbd) to get it back and set it in the 80s in Miami. It was set in rival clubs and Mjolnir was a keytar.Would 100% be tempted to write a version of Thor like this on a MU.
People would hate me and I wouldn't care. -
Dunno about the era, but I always had this idle story in mind about a mutant type with the ability of Forge, but for electronics; as a way to bring 'modern' tech into a period game. Like, a guy in the 1950s or 60's seeing Tesla's diagrams and coming up with a way to actually make it work, or tooling around with a cell phone after watching Star Trek.

@Auspice Dunno what you just said, but in my brain it looked like Nic Cage in Mandy with a keytar and a soundtrack by Europe

I don't know what its all about either, but now I want the option of 70s muscle gods on vans murals meets 80s death metal bands and its some concept of demons fighting for souls and the comic heroes are some sort of angels/fallen demi-gods/gods/chosen ones fighting the demons through music and GWAR style weapons. Which comic place vote is that one?
ETA: My hero is based on Iron Maiden songs, called it - DIBS

@Auspice Yes, but I would love you for it.
-
@Lotherio Yes. This is good. I like it.

Mine would be:
-
@Ganymede Well, of course! Now we just need someone to play Prince.

sorry @Surasanji this is now Battle of the Bands: the Game.
-
I see no reason not to continue as such.
-
@Auspice I am really okay with this. It's a fun conversation!

Unexpected Lita Ford Ass-Whoopin.

@Ghost Truly marvelous.

I said 80s but not for the gif-related reasons, but just because it was a good time in comics. Doing a game purely on exaggerated nostalgia would be fun for a laugh but I think it would also be a really short-lived. Comic games in general suffer from a lack of any real attention paid to building an ongoing world and story, so that's probably the biggest thing you want to focus on.
-
@bored Of course. Personally, I've always been of a mind that the best way to play any game with 'Feature characters' is to let the player have a bit of freedom in how they play the character.
None of it would ever be canonical anyways and the ultimate point of all of this is entertainment and fun.
I'm very much, also, a fan of making a character your own through roleplay- allowing the non-canonical actions and experiences further grow the character and who they become.
Within that, a vibrant world is absolutely a requirement. One of the major issues I've had playing in comic games is a lack of meta-plot, a something pushing the game forward. They often become giant sandboxes.
There isn't anything wrong with a giant sandbox, of course, there's a lot of fun to be had in that sort of place- but I really enjoy the character development most, personally.
Development, however, doesn't come without struggle. There needs to be an easily accessible meta-plot. Something everyone can get into on all levels- from street level to the big-hitters. There needs to be something to guide and lead the overall RP.
The 80s are great for that, imho. You got the Cold War for some truly fantastic guiding of an overarching, constant threat. The world feels like it's at the edge of war. You've got the fantastic music, clothes, and sweeping cultural changes in technology and science.
Placed on top of that the ability to create OTHER external threats in the whole comic universe gives a lot of potential threads for advancement.
Just my two cents, though.

For all of you voting 80's, I would JUST LIKE TO REMIND YOU:

If you are going to say 80s, I'ma leave this here: Teen Titans Go! The Night Begins to Shine

Sorry, but that song was written in the 2000s.
