I know some people will be home with kids, and this crossed my path:

Also an art teacher's resources
-
The Cincinnati Zoo will also be doing a live Facebook stream featuring one of their animals every day at 3PM, followed by an activity for kids to do at home.
Today is Fiona the hippo.
ETA: The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy will be doing something similar. Every day at 10AM they will be reading a shark-themed book and hosting a Q&A session to follow for kids.
-
I was considering suggesting that those of us with Tabletop Simulator could start doing virtual game nights.
-
Ooh thanks guys. About to get my two drop in kids on top of my regulars. This will help.
-
Thanks for the helpful resources. We're struggling to figure out how to not let this affect our kiddo's development. This helps a lot.
-
In that case, I'm just gonna spam you guys. I don't have kids, but I'm still FB with my childhood bestie and her mom -- who became the principal at our elementary school before retiring. Right now, Mrs. J (which I will still call her when I'm 50, tyvm), is flooding her feed with resources for her former students, former teachers, and parents.
Virtual Field Trips, Including Yellowstone, Mars, and the Louvre

Discord has upgraded their live screen share feature for servers from 10 to 50 users on a server. This is intended for group activities both in entertaining children and running virtual classrooms. It is 100% free.
-
That's really cool. I'm going to be using a program called Zoom. Our district was already a subscriber, but the company offered free accounts for all teachers who didn't already have them. It's how I'm going to run my read alouds.
-
Zoom is decent and Discord is, too, though they expect lag with the large number of people.
Twitch is also an option, for all teachers here. It has a lot of custom overlays and the like that might allow for more interactivity, and is worth looking into.

I wonder if anyone has suggestions on shows to stream that are not dark shows - as dark shows increases my anxiety. I am self isolating looking for movies, funny shows, distracting shows to stream on netflix, hulu, disney + or prime. I am open to suggestions if anyone has thoughts!

It depends on how crude you want to get.
I like watching cooking and restaurant shows, so I like Ugly Delicious on Netflix and Kitchen Nightmares on Hulu.
I have kids, so I adore kids' shows -- the more absurd, the better. Hulu has a variety of them, notably Teen Titans Go!, Regular Show, and The Amazing World of Gumball. Disney has its in-the-vault collection of older works, like Robin Hood and Peter Pan, although I prefer darker movies (sorry) like The Hunchback of Notre Dame and WALL-E.
Finally, if you don't mind crude humor, check out Letterkenny or Family Guy on Hulu. NSFK.
-
Good thoughts, thank you.
I did see too Frozen 2 is released early.
-
Netflix standup comedian lineup is strong and has enough variety that regardless of personal preferences you can probably find a good 2 or 3 specials.
Not sure if Expanse on Amazon is dark, but it's solid. Magicians is on Netflix and Amazon and has some witty dialogue. If you're into some bodice ripping there's Outlander on both Netflix and Amazon. Spiderman enter the Spiderverse is a great and kid friendly. Dragon Prince is a nice kind of Avatar the Last Airbender esque kid friendly adventure on Netflix.

Dragon Prince
I'll second this, i liked this serious.
Adult but not really dark ... Future Man on Hulu, it's pretty strongly crude but not dark.
-
It only has a few episodes so far since it's a new show, but Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist is super heartwarming.
-
My brother turned me on to Those Who Can't. I went in with a very jaundiced eye, since I hate that saying and rather like teachers, but the show isn't really about bagging on teachers, it's about the staff at a Colorado school, teachers included. It's crude and starts a little rough until they find their stride in the first season(like many shows). It's also becoming as quotable as Parks and Rec, which my brother also turned me on to, and which I also recommend.

I mentioned it else-thread, but Amazon is releasing the first season of Julia Child's cooking show from waaaaaaaaaaaay back in the days of black and white TV for free through March 31st. There's a bunch of other stuff they're doing that with, too, but Julia Child fits my exact need of cheerful, soothing, and funny -- all while being interesting enough to keep what's left of my crapped-out and drugged-up attention span and without being so intense that I care if I fall asleep.
It's like the Great British Baking Show, 1960s style.
-
Speaking of the Great British Baking Show, I recently discovered The Great Pottery Throwdown and its full episodes on YouTube.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4-6sFsql7s <-- first one.
It's like the Great British Baking Show except pottery.

@kk Lego Masters is very popular in my house.
-
Oh! Castlevania Season 3 is out too.
