Exo-Squad would have run its story arc had it not been produced by Universal Animation Studios back in the 90s.
And the 2011 Thundercats reboot isn't bad at all, but Rankin/Bass just didn't have the ability to put it out on a platform that it could control.

Horimiya is an absolute adorable marshmallow of a show. Good on you for stepping outside of your usual sphere.
This is where I frantically tell to anyone who listens that even though 95% of all things are shit, that 5% still exists for anime, and if anyone needs a starting point, let me know.

I didn't love The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's finale. It wasn't bad, but it was less 'show, don't tell' and more 'give speeches'.
Let's see where they go with it. Apparently there are follow-up movies in the making.

@solstice Oh I generally enjoy anime and animation, but Horimiya on the surface looked like a CW show aimed at highschoolers. Something about it though just resonated and I found it to be absolutely friggen adorable and fun and I was cheering for a Hori/Miya relationship from minute one. It's super kawaii.

I was more bothered by how chummy Bucky was being with Walker at the end. I liked the Power Broker and Madam Hydra twists they threw in there though and can't wait to see how those manifest in future shows.
I do agree that it felt like a tiny bit rushed and a lot was crammed into the final episode. It could have gone for 1-2 more maybe.

@ortallus You articulated how i felt as well. I loved all the episodes but the last 1.5... the tone/pace seemed to shift a bit, very rushed, but also a lot of speeches thrown in, and the subtlety seemed to get tossed all the way out the window. I liked the end tho, it felt very wholesome and damnit Bucky deserves a little

I am really, REALLY enjoying Odd Taxi right now. I'm not into most of the stuff floating around out there this or last season, but Odd Taxi has me hooked.
I mean, is this a world of anthropomorphic animals like Beastars or are we just seeing the normal human world through the eyes of a lonely, possibly deranged taxi driver? Now to see if it's like most one-season anime - being good for the first 6-10 episodes then going off the rails - or if it can go the distance.Ceterum autem censeo Carthaginem esse delendam

Odd Taxi is definitely strange, and a breath of fresh air. I'm really enjoying To Your Eternity so far, granted we're only a couple of episodes in, it was so strong out of the gate that I'm captivated.
Laughably simplified elevator pitch: Imagine John Carpenter's The Thing, except the alien is super wholesome.

Anyone watching Shadow and Bone? It's pretty good, but I never finished the books so I don't know how it compares or if the fanbase likes the adaptation.

@arkandel I read the books this week, then watched the adaptation. I'm honestly impressed by how good it was.
(Ok, let's be honest. I slammed through the books as fast as I could, promptly bought a few more, then binged the show over two days and am probably about to re-watch it.)

I am. I never knew about the books but I'm enjoying the show so far. Taking it slow rather than binging since I'm prone to a lot of interruptions these days...

I've read the first two books (which only feature half the cast of the show; the Crows are from a whole different duology in the same setting).
I liked the show. There are a lot of changes (the addition of a whole cast of characters will do that) but the story beats from the first book are all hit and the production value is pretty good. I found some of the acting a little stiff (but I am more prone to putting those responsibilities on the directors rather than the actors, usually) but other performances were stellar.
All in all, I liked it. I'll probably read the rest of the books in the setting before the next season comes out.

Binged it, it's lovely, the costumes are gorgeous. It did however leave me confused and realizing that you probably need to have a basic understanding of the world it's set in, as it lacks some worldbuilding. They seem to expect that you'll have understanding of different races/peoples of the setting.
That said, I enjoyed it. I'll give it another watch and having never read the series, I'd probably give the books a go just so that I can better understand the world as a whole.

Novyi Zem was inspired by the American colonies and Australia, with other influences.
Kerch was inspired by the Dutch Republic of the 18th century, with some influence from New York (New Amsterdam), Las Vegas, and Victorian London.
Shu Han is based on Mongolia and China. The name is taken from one of the Chinese states of Three Kingdoms period.
Fjerda is based on Scandinavia.
The Wandering Isle is based on Ireland.

I started a rewatch of The Nanny and I am genuinely surprised at how well it holds up. Also, Fran Fine is officially now my style icon, big hair and all.

I don't know if this qualifies as 'TV' but... why not....
I absolutely adore Emmymade(InJapan). I mostly watch her videos on Facebook, and they're one of the best things on my feed. Some of the stuff she makes is amazing, some is terrifying, but it's almost always fun.
