The Magicians!
I have binge-watched the entire show since this post went up.
WHY IS THERE NOT MORE YET?
(Read the booooooooooks.) >.>
ETA: Over the weekend I was talking to someone re: the show and got back on my 'might use AresMUSH to make a Magicians game' train (because I really don't want to code a system from the ground up and they know WoD Mage well and they agree with me that it won't work well)...

@aria Re:l Power. I am so afraid of this show after loving the graphic novels.
-
@aria Have you read the books, btw?

Has anyone talked about Sense8 yet? I was bummed/pissed when I found out that they're cancelling it. As were like many many thousands of others.
I think it's one of the most underappreciated shows on Netflix, possibly because it has so much unrestrained content. =/

@ortallus I love Sense8 with the power of a thousand suns. I know at least one person on here hates it because they always make a point to talk about how awful they think it is when it comes up, but I can't remember who. BUT I LOVE IT.

I think it's one of the smartest bits of television for a long time. Asks a lot of questions, has amazing characters, with amazing actor chemistry ("Not since Firefly have we seen" comes to mind...), amazing cinematography.
The only thing that could possibly be held against it is the more adult content, and the bigotry of so many people. Which is a damn shame. =(

@ortallus I really liked season 1, but the holiday special turned me off. One long take in the water for what seemed to be like... 20 minutes straight of just a montage happening was enough for me to lose interest. It felt really self indulgent, and I never got back into it.
-
@arkandel Admittedly, I didn't feel Season 2 was as good, and the holiday special was... special. But yeah, season 1 was solid gold.
-
Sense8 was just bad. Rather than try to create something great they just ticked off the SJW checkboxes and forgot to develop the show.
-
@admiral 100% disagree. That's your bias showing.

So you liking it so much means your bias is showing?
No. I listed actual things that were good about it. He's saying that the only reason it was popular is "X".
In my experience, anyone who uses the term "SJW" is someone who's a bigot, or likes to be an asshole for the sake of being an asshole, and doesn't like being called on it.
-
@ortallus You sound like an SJW

Let's take it easy here, folks.

I can't stand people who do that.
I mean, it's okay to not like things, but don't be a dick about it.

I liked Sense8 a lot, but the more that came out the more I turn my blame on the Wachowskis. The show had a more elaborate production than Game of Thrones. They boosted about the "16 cities in 11 countries" thing which had to make the damn show a fortune to film, but the Wachowskis wouldn't budge when it came to reducing costs. Which, hey, much respect for them sticking to their guns, but also if Netflix is going to be dropping HBO dollars they probably want to see HBO results.
And yeah, anyone who unironically calls someone an SJW is a fuckin jbird.

Especially when the only real criticism they can come up with was "there was too much diversity, because that's real life, and I can't stand real life".

Black Lightning was fun.
The Magicians is ... swimming along.

@thatguythere Lol, I acknowledge I may be the unhealthy one in this aspect of a relationship.
IDK man, binge-watching ahead on a show we're both into is like. Grounds for divorce in my house. I will cut him if I come home and he's watched ahead.
Things we aren't watching together are FINE, but things we started together, you'd better get permission before racing ahead!
