Also, is it true that Netflix is thinking about removing all the smoking from season 3?
Yes, Netflix has vowed to not depict smoking in its shows geared towards younger audiences.
I don't know, but if they do then you would remove half of the scenes.
This only applies to new projects moving forward. Most smoking occurs just casually in the background, so the impact to the story itself should be negligible.
Man, this is gonna cramp Russian Doll's style hard for the next season, rofl.

It's not a bad thing, these days it seems like every director has suddenly developed a smoking fetish and it's kind of bizarre to watch when it's a much more uncommon thing these days.
I think tv creators are just too used to using it as a crutch for DRAMA

Not at all. Russian Doll is TV-MA. Netflix's policy only applies to shows aimed at younger viewers (i.e. TV-14 and under).
The article states they would be applying it to other works as well unless it's specifically key to a character's portrayal, and while I can see some characters that way in Russian Doll, smoking is so endemic to that show in the background that it would maka a pretty big difference in ambience.

@Coin Specifically, they say:
For new projects with higher ratings, there’ll be no smoking or e-cigarettes unless it’s essential to the creative vision of the artist or because it’s character-defining (historically or culturally important).
I don't see the big deal. If the smoking is essential to portraying the time period ambiance (e.g. Mad Men) or the specific character (e.g. The Smoking Man in X-Files) then it'll get a pass. If it isn't essential, then taking it out shouldn't be disruptive.

Agree to disagree on how it may potentially affect Russian Doll, then.

They just announced a live action Warhammer 40K TV show is in the works. It's made by the people behind "Man in the High Castle" and will focus on Eisenhorn/Dark Heresy/Inquisition.

Dat Picard trailer tho.
You mean Star Trek: The Next Geriatrics? I’m honestly disappointed at all the returning characters, and will wonder how they deal with Data after, you know, what happened.
I’m getting burnout on a considerable amount of nostalgia bait. The start of the trailer had me cautiously optimistic, then excited, then...nnnnghhhh. And I hear Riker and Troi will be making appearances and just stop.
I know I’m probably pretty alone in this, but Patrick Stewart is an amazing actor. He can play a range that would bring a different tone and take on the series. Now I’m worried for it.
Well, I hope at least this helps all the TNG actors’s careers, at least.
