Good TV

@thenomain Coincidentally this came out today-ish.

For anyone still watching Startrek Discovery, Tig Notaro joined the crew and stole the show. I'm starting to look forward to this season, especially if they lay off the teen angst of Spock's family aspects.
-
Also, someone posted Horation Hornblower to Youtube, I forgot that Lee Adama was in this show!

TIME KNIFE!
CLASSY MARTINI!
PENIS BEES!Aaaaaaaaaaah! How does the Good Place keep getting better and better?!
-
Belatedly watched the most recent ep of The Orville and holy shit that show is so good.

PENIS BEES!I came up with that. That was a thing that I invented.
They installed a tenth dimension.

If I say too many things they can be tracked to spoilers but I think the first half of the season was a bit too meandering, but otherwise YES, YES, YES.
If Eleanor doesn’t end up in charge next episode I will throw something. It is such a beautiful setup, but I trust these writers.

I love that it was Jason who said the right thing.
The only real problem w/The Good Place is that either:
a) It will have to end at some point, which, boo: no more Good Place
or
b) It'll fall into that trap of just meandering on and on into garbage city like other shows that get whipped onward by their network even though they had reached their natural conclusion.I'd prefer A because I am always satisfied by a natural ending even though there's that sort of ennui from something I loved ending. B is just like seeing some old, rotting playground that the city refuses to put money into, but expects to still do its job. You can tell there were memories there once and you hear the squeak and rattle of the swings in the wind, but you know it will never, ever be quite the same. And some parents expect their kids to enjoy it the same as they once did, while getting frustrated that they don't, gesticulating wildly to some off-kilter slide: "But you used to love that thing!"
-
It's a crime that there's only 6 episodes of Derry Girls.
-
The only real problem w/The Good Place is that either:
a) It will have to end at some point, which, boo: no more Good PlaceI did not catch the recent twist. They need to end it, yes, because this is clearly a story about four...no, six...well a lot of people, but specifically one. I believe that their challenge is how to end it in a way that's satisfactory, that's not so saccharine and maybe not too clean. I don't think I have to worry about the second one; if anything The Good Place does over and over is how complex even simple things are.
But in the meantime: Let it continue this streak.

I love it.
I love it because it's a linear, self-contained story about the journey these people are on and how they've grown.I'd hate if it's forced to continue past the point it should.

You on Netflix was kind of excellent. Super uncomfortable in the best way to be uncomfortable.
Seconding @Thenomain on Maniac. Insanely atmospheric and surreal.

The Orville has been great this season with a lot of character focused episodes.
That said, I wouldn't mind them getting back to missions and away teams and such.
I can't remember the last time a show so challenged its audience the way the porn addiction episode did. That was a lot of beefy alien on beefy alien action and I wonder how many people turned it off.
Also, I finally caught up on last season of Legends of Tomorrow. While I really hated the dumb Nazi crossover* I loved the rest of the season. It one hundred percent embraced how fucking dumb and goofy these shows are. And no matter how many times they bring him back and overuse him, I'll never get tired of Neil McDonough's genial psychopath Damien Darhk. Also, also, also CW I love Matt Ryan as Constantine please make him a regular part of the crew next season and then give him his own show or at least do a sort of JL Dark show with him as the lead!
The best tweet on CW shows:

"I’ve seen a lot of people knock the acting on the CW like any of you know how to convincingly cry on cue looking at a greenscreen wizard that’s also your dead mom from the future while delivering an earnest endorsement of Bing."
"Literally everyone who has said “Gorilla Grodd” without breaking deserves an Emmy. Fuck You guys. I couldn’t do it."
That said, no desire to watch any of the other CW shows except maybe Black Lightning. I'll watch the crossovers, but I really don't need a full season (much less two) of the Grim Adventures of Ollie and Barry.
The Good Place continues to be amazing, but Superstore continues to be one of the most underrated shows on TV.
*Guys, we're in the future where the Nazis won, ALSO they did a bad job of realizing the evil versions of the characters, and it was hard to believe that the good Supergirl, good Arrow, good Flash plus a dozen other superheroes would have a hard time with the bad version of Arrow, the bad version of Supergirl and the bad version of the Flash. Like, that's three evenly matched people, but then the good side also had Firestorm, Killer Frost, Vibe, Arrow's dumb team, White Canary, Steel, Atom and, though they keep sending him away, a SECOND good Flash.

Constantine is a full member of the cast this latest season.

He already got his own show. It only had one season and then got cancelled because everything sucks and is terrible and people aren't ready for a show like it and the universe hates us

Oh, I know! That show should never have been on NBC in the first place, really. So CW owes us a new show! With the same cast. I loved his buddy.

Last I'd heard, the DC streaming service was gonna do a season 2 as an animated series, but that may have been nixed with him going to Legends.

And it only took me a decade?

Ugh I'm so mad about how good The Good Place continues to be every week.

I have recently been introduced to Chuck. I did not expect to like this show, let alone love it.
