@Auspice Will Arnett is just amazingly awesome as the host. Yeah, it's all pre-recorded, but his bon-motts and remarks are great.
Also, the Builders mess with him at times. First episode, the challenge is to build a Theme Park, and one of the teams used the 'official' Will minifig and stuck him inside the Ferris Wheel that they built, saying that Will was shooting an action-comedy film at the scene.

Soooo, I watched the first episode. Will Arnett is fun.
But I gotta say, I feel like some of these teams were chosen less for ability and more for, uhh.... quirkiness? factor?(.... or in the case of that one lady, nightmare fuel.)

Well, I mean - it's reality TV. They're going to choose contestants that they think are going to get people to watch. But judging from the final builds in the first episode, they all are at least "good" builders, some moreso than others.

Yeah. But, one of the 'quirky' teams is gone in the 2nd episode. So, the teams with ability start shining more.

Well damn. Now I'm torn.Certainly the quarterback friend clue would make a lot more sense with him.

War of the worlds episode 1 was fantastic.

Edit: Oh look a second episode.

I Am Not Okay With This, a new half-hour long 7-episode binge on Netflix is pretty decent. It's rather charming and has some good wit to it.

I'm really enjoying I'm Not Okay With It on Netflix as well as Avenue 5 on HBO.

Maaan I really want to like the new season of Altered Carbon but the magic is just gone somehow. I'm slogging through it in hopes of a redeeming moment but it is fairly ehhh so far.
-
I didn't think the first season of Altered Carbon was all that good. I wanted it to be. The idea/setting was fantastic. But the plot was confusing and chaotic (and soap opera cheezy) and didn't run together well. They changed a bunch from the book, for no discernible reason, but I didn't think it worked well. I'm hoping for a better second season but the previews were not promising.
-
I'm enjoying the second season of Altered Carbon so far. It's been a bit of a disconnect and the non-Earth setting makes it a bit harder for me and while I don't think it measures up to the first season I definitely don't consider it bad.
The strength of the supporting cast really carried season 1, and season 2's supporting cast is a bit weaker. (Simone Messick's hair triggers the fuck out of me. I don't know why. She's amazing but I can't get past that visual choice for the character.)
It feels like there is a bit too much 'weeeee, look at these superpowered fights for no reason!' in season 2. More action, less psychology.

Quite curious and mildly hopeful about Tales from the Loop that premieres on Amazon Prime soon. I've loved Simon Stålenhag's art for a long time. I got a framed print of his on my wall right in this room (and likely to get more when I get around to it.)
-
I enjoyed Altered Carbon season 2, but the criticisms above are valid. It also felt like the plot should have been season 3, not 2. It's like there's a middle there missing.
