RIGHT?! I love it. I really, really think Discovery is going good places.

I was worried that Bob was going to end up working for the bad guys, but he ended up being totally cool and I was /hoping/ he would just get hurt but I /knew/ he was gonna die and I was sad. I liked him a lot.

It's a subversion the show has pulled on us more than once. It leads us to ship certain characters who aren't single (and not with the right person) but then the one they are with isn't just some jerk we won't feel bad about if they get dumped. Poor Steve!

Steve turned into a real good guy, but he was already making the transition at the end of Season 1, yeah I feel bad for him, it was kind of a disconnect for me that him and Nancy were together at the start of season 2. I /so/ wanted to see Steve kick the shit out of Billy though. Wanted that hard core.

... Wtf was that MILF bit they pulled with Billy Hargrove and Nancy's mom? That was kinda out of nowhere. 😛

So there were a few plot threads just sort of abandoned. And I mean, one suits for season 3. Finding 'Papa.' Ok, I get that.

But like, why so much focus on the damn tripwire at the cabin if it never came up?

And what did Max "do"? We had that whole spiel between her and Billy that alluded it to being a big deal and... what? Is he that much of a manchild that he blames her for ... their parents being together or something? wtf?

Like maybe that's a season 3 thing, too, but it was such a minor storyline that I can't imagine how it would be.

Probably a cut scene? Not sure why they wouldn't go back and cut the whole sequence from the earlier episode as well since they released everything at the same time, but maybe it escaped their notice or they thought people wouldn't notice, or Deadlines. I was literally laughing as Hopper was explaining everything to Jonathon, like "...uh, forget anything dude?"

I had step-sibs at that age and there were a couple of them that I really, really did not get along with in a similar vein. They didn't like my ma, I didn't like their dad. Blame and anger and all sorts of stuff gets misdirected pretty easily when you're a teen, that part honestly made a lot of sense to me.

Same, that part made sense to me. I had(ETA: have. have. He's still alive.) a step-brother whom I fought with like cats and dogs. I mean literally fought. I mean knock-out, drag-out fight in the middle of the street, him pinned to the ground, me trying to jam a thumb into his eye socket, fights. So this dude's abused by his father and he blames his younger step-sister for his going from living the apparent sweet life to being a glorified babysitter? Yeah, I can see it.

The altogether useless father of Mike and Nancy, his repeated "Language!" warnings reminded me so hard of one of the characters that I play right now. Every time he'd throw the line out in the show, I couldn't help but chuckle.

I don't know if it's the consensus but I can't watch Flash any more. It's really bad. I find myself rolling my eyes at the dialogue (especially anything involving Iris...) and twiddling my thumbs waiting for the predictable plot to unfold.

In the latest episode I just stopped some time in the first twenty minutes and switched to something else.

Still watching the Lethal Weapon series. Still enjoying it.

I've also finally began watching Supernatural. When I say that I watch it...I mostly watch an episode or two, then go do other things. Then my spouse watches half a season and I have to play catch-up to get to where she is. I'm not as invested in it as she is.

Anyone have any opinions on The Americans? I watched the first season way-back-when and did enjoy it, but just lost track of it because I'm not huge on watching television. Are the later seasons worthwhile? Are they worth buying?

I hate this season of Flash so far and it is all because of Iris.
I hate that character so, so much.

Joe is literally the only reason to watch at this point. Even the return of Asshole!Harrison was underwhelming.

I'm hoping Dibny can make things a little more palatable. I'm enjoying it, but I'm not expecting more out of it than 'A meta shows up, there's some drama, the meta does stuff with powers, Team Flash does something to counter meta powers'. Dibny could add a nice comedic element if they keep his comic personality intact.

It definitely has its own style, but I think it has been steadily declining save for isolated episodes that are really good (usually due to their surreal nature).

I think this should be the last season, too.

Of the DC shows... Flash and Arrow are disappointing this season, IMO. They're not bad, but they aren't really good, either? I mean, Arrow's OK, but I am not feeling Flash at all.

Supergirl, on the other hand, is knocking it out of the park. I usually feel really meh on 'girl power' stuff. Like, a lot of the time it feels like it's trying too hard and overly vilifies or puts men down to 'make a point,' but Supergirl has these female characters front and center who balance strength and emotion, while the male characters still get their stories and play their parts, the lesbian character's aren't tropey, one didn't die (LOOKING AT YOU BUFFY)...

                                            Look, it's awesome.

                                            But, uh...
