@Pondscum Do you think Tom can do the physicality of Bond? He doesn't strike me as the action hero type. Of course he may be the action hero in that movie/show as I have never seen it... now I must find.

I think he'd be more along the lines of the suave stealthy Bond like Timothy Dalton or Pierce Brosnan. Craig is definitely the more action oriented Bond. But I think every actor has their different 'flavor' of Bond.

In an interview I read with Craig, he was asked what advice to give to the next person playing Bond. He flipped out slightly, as he has been over people treating the James Bond franchise like anything more than a bunch of movies. He said essentially that each person makes Bond their own and that it was a stupid question.
Roger Moore, for instance, was a silly Bond, a very silly Bond, when a silly Bond was just as good as an elegant Bond or an action Bond.

I agree. I think that's why I love the movies so much. In fact it's the Bond marathons on the holidays that are about the only things I miss about not having cable. I think that even the bad movies are good for what they are - a James Bond movie. It's supposed to have over the top villains with preposterous plots.

The only Bond I have not liked was Brosnan's, and that is because he didn't smoke in the role.
To me Bond is the wonderful Id personified, he drinks, he smokes, he sleeps around and does it all so well he saves the world. The exact means and style vary but those are just details but the walking Id needs to stay the same. -

Moore's Bond smoke and drank and slept around, and I remember him saving the world at least one in the movies he did. All my required bases were covered. -

As James Bond I found him very, very boring.

See the sexiness is covered for me with the Bond girls, though I will concede the need for a fifth base ot be covered for part of the audience. -
