RL things I love

So I'm in the SCA and tonight I'm running ethereal (read: Zoom) court for our local group.
This basically means that I get to spend my evening on a call with a bunch of people I haven't physically seen since last December, giving out awards and recognition and shinies and nice things to say for a bunch of talented and dedicated individuals. Including the "noble" whose court I'm running, who has no idea that I've slipped a surprise present for him from one our seamstresses onto the docket.
Tonight I get to make people's pandemic suck just a little bit less.
This makes me happy. ^_^

Kitties.
I have two now.
I’ll post pictures when they stop hiding from the world.
Guess what their names are?
Use GIFs only.

Today, for the first time since May, my husband is flying home from Canada. It may be only for a few months, but he's coming home.
Now if only I could find a way to see my step kids, life would be super!

This is awesome and I am super excited for you!

That's amazing!
I don't actually know, are the borders open (and are they open both ways)?

Unfortunately the borders are only open via air still for Canadians. So he flew from Toronto into Detroit. You know, the hotspots. Instead of driving a safe 5 min across a bridge. But he's here. And we couldn't be more excited. Even if he does have to quarantine.

Had a sudden realization today.
Between living in a state that regularly hits over 105 degrees (and rarely gets below 70 in winter) and my job altering the dress code to allow for cargo shorts and birkenstocks...
...I just realized that I don't think I've actually worn pants in about a year and a half. I can't remember the list time I wore a pair of jeans. I actually don't know where the jeans I own are right now because I haven't gone looking for them in my closet in a while. I've been working at home for the last 9 months straight and technically a pair of cargo shorts are now my "getting stuff outside of the house" done pants, and have been living near exclusively in baskeball shorts, a raccoon onesie, and my underwear for 8 or so months.
So weird.

<blinkies>
I literally just had the best customer service experience of my entire life. If y'all are into indie perfumes, go order from Sucreabeille.
While they have a (well-advertised, multiple warning) turnaround time of up to three weeks? They make good-smelling things, support other indie makers through their marketplace, and are both ridiculously nice and stupidly fast at responding to customers.
-
Can you tell us about your experience and what they sell?
-
@Ganymede They sell perfume and hair/body care products.
I placed an order with them in October during their Halloween sale, which just came in the mail this afternoon. Between when I placed my order and when I received it, they made an announcement on their Facebook page that they'd had an issue with the lids for some of their 5ml perfume oil bottles. Some customers had said they'd leaked during shipping and they would be happy to make it right for anyone who experienced a problem.
Unfortunately, my package was one of the ones that had some leaky bottles, so I emailed them to let them know. That said, they had only partially leaked and this is a small business operating during the pandemic, so I asked if I could get dram replacements (the next size down) for the three leaky ones. Specifically, I asked if they could include them whenever I make my next order so they wouldn't have to eat the cost of shipping out such a small package.
They literally emailed me back seven minutes later offering full size replacements or a store credit for the cost of all of them. Again, small business and I didn't want them to absorb that expense because their supplier messed up, so I asked if I could get a store credit just for the dram sizes, which cost less. They emailed me back in less than four minutes with a gift code that I can now use to top up the perfume that I have or for anything else in the store.
Additional Note: If you go to their "indie marketplace", they also carry products from other small businesses that aren't as well-known. Right now that includes incense, candles, jewelry, shampoo bars, cosmetics (mostly loose powders for eyeshadow/blush and lip balms), tea, skin care, and fragrances from other independent perfumers they're friendly with.

PS: They have a My Favorite Murder theme perfume named "Here's the Thing, Fuck Everyone" that I really feel would just appeal to pretty much all of the people who post on this board.
(And for those who actually care instead of just rightfully laughing at the name, scent notes: bourbon, rich chocolate, dark amber, touch of dirt.)

Like, basically, you just made me squirm in a good way, thank you.

Ohh, I definitely ordered that one. ^_^
I just haven't sniffed it yet because the leaky bottles gave me a bit of a headache as I unpacked things and wiped everything in the package down, so Imma wait and sniff tomorrow.

All I'm saying is that bourbon, rich chocolate, and a touch of dirt makes for a hell of a night.

Fun idea for the holidays:
Go on UNICEF's site
Donate money for vaccines ($19 will get like, 100 polio vaccines)
Donate in the name of an anti-vaxxer relative
Send them a card letting them know(Note: you need to do this through the 'Shop' link vs. the standard Donate button. I linked directly to it. It's their 'inspired gifts.')

I was today years old when I found out that Batman is Jewish and it's canon.
