@Ominous I actually knocked on wood. But yay! You can do it!

Made it to California with all the stuff I didn't throw away crammed into my car. Started my job and I think I can do it. Got a 6-month lease and am moving in. Cross your fingers and knock on wood, but things seem to be working out.
Let us know how it goes, yeah? Also, avoid fires.
-
I am so happy to hear it!!!

Thank you for the well wishes, everyone. I am in Santa Barbara working for the County of Santa Barbara in code enforcement. If you're ever in town, say "hi."

I am on the coast, and no fires here so far. The fires have a couple of mountains ranges to get over first, which is possible but helps a bit.

I began brewing my own kombucha again after about 7 years. I've been wanting to for a while, so I'm thrilled. Even moreso that it's been very very successful so far. And it seems to be really helping my stomach out.
I bought a few plants a few weeks ago. I am terrible with plants, but I keep trying (stubbornly). One of them is struggling, another is doing OK, but the peace lily is thriving and this makes me so happy.
Last week I was under the weather and my knee was acting up real bad. These combined with the general blahs killed my RP ability. I just haven't been able to get up and go when it comes to RP. I barely even wanna login anywhere. Channel chatter is fucking exhausting, but if I turn off all channels: I just sit in silence. I feel like having channels off means no one will even know I exist, so it becomes 'why even be logged in?'
But I haven't been like, moping over it. FFXIV has actually been really great for me lately. It's been relaxing and engaging and I've been playing with a few long-time buddies so I'm still being social and not just becoming a lump.

This is an RL Thing I Love because it was a meme shared on a Discord server I'm on and it's so adorably wholesome that I keep looking back to it and smiling and it is going in the 'things that make me smile' collection:

I got my eldest moved in to his college apt/dorm today and didn't cry until after I was back on the road home!
-
I got my official membership card and certificate today and omg, they are more beautiful in person than I dared imagine
-
@Wizz That card is actually quite lovely. I'm totally in line with the social progress and other tenets, but I didn't know there was an actual MEMBERSHIP CARD.
Shit. Now I totally want to be a card carrying member.
-
Membership itself is free!! But yeah, getting the card is basically just an excuse to put money towards their activism efforts. FeelsGood.gif

i am so glad that the people i consider celebrities are so relatively obscure and accessible and i can do things like take online dance classes with them. i needed those endorphins today.

When I get 6 hours to cook.
German red cabbage sauerkraut. Sausage soup w/ mirepoix base. Arborio risotto cooked with leftover broth from the soup. And later, gluten-free apple muffins.
Yes, my family probably doesn't deserve this, but I like to feed people.
-
The last time I had Indian food I got violently ill after - and it wasn't the food because my husband ate most of my plate when it was too spicy for me.
So it has been a few years.
But I woke up ready to try again and we did. So far so good and thus I'm feeling hopeful!
(The food was amazing tasing both times.)

They don't! But I do! Feed me!

I have the absolute best Dog. I am so damn lucky he chose me. Snuggles for hours on a lazy Sunday.

So, just discovered the other day that this was a thing.
Orson Welles & H.G. Wells share a radio interview 2 years after the 'War of the Worlds' broadcast.

Just got an offer on a new job, giving my 2 weeks notice tomorrow. I will miss my little boss and my other coworkers, and will have to work a little longer but will still get benefits, but no more being ruled by cross sales and survey nps score hell.
-
I am so relieved. Congrats!!
-
@mietze Omg job searching is SUCH hell, I am SO glad you found something!!
