One of my friends runs a charity. They put a call out saying they need can openers, the handheld ones that don't require power (about 600 of them). Since then, she has started finding them on her porch in the morning. In her mailbox. On the step at her office. New, in boxes, shiny. No tag saying where they were from.
It's the can opener fairy.
(I'm pretty sure it's one of her kids, but it's still freaking HILARIOUS.)

Learning the Corona brand is losing money because of fears surrounding the Coronavirus has both made and ruined my day.

@JinShei @Kestrel I feel like I'd be more likely to buy Corona beer at the moment, because I'm an awful person that loves puns and even though I haven't thought of a good pun to be made about it the possibility of it existing is enough for me to want to drink it.
But I'm a terrible human being, so... YMMV?
(to be clear I am not a fan of Corona, the beer or the virus)

A few days after the coronavirus was in the news, I was at a bar with a handful of people and someone got up to go to the bar and get the next round. One guy at the table did go: 'I'll have a coronavirus.' So yes, it's absolutely been done. >.>

@Auspice I need downvotes back.
Actually on topic: puns. Wordplay is pretty much the best thing, even if I'm too tired to actually put some in here. Like the proverbial bicycle.

Puppy play time. It's just the best.

A coworker's husband brought their baby puppy in to work for her to take back home (they work different shifts and didn't want to leave the babypupper alone), so I got to play with a baby chihuahua for a few minutes at work and anyway, the moral of the story is it should be required by law that workplaces provide their employees with puppies to play with for a few minutes every shift.

@GreenFlashlight Fully Agree. My dog would totally up morale in my office.

Through the Lady Geeks of Austin, I met a gal and her husband and get along with them great (I've mentioned them here before). One reason why I enjoy hanging out with them is that the husband has fibro and his symptoms are very similar to mine. Which means that their house is a bit warmer than average (he actually prefers things warmer than I do, but they cool it down a bit from what they keep it at when it's just them for company) and if I need to take things slow/easy, they have a total understanding.
Heck, she had a major surgery that means she has an understanding of the abdominal issues I have (not an exact understanding, but enough of one). It's just nice. It's nice to not only have made friends who I have so much in common with (from board games to hobbies to movies), but ones that get the limitations.
Last night I went to a game night at their house and it was, other than a grocery run, the first time I've left my apartment in three weeks. (yay agoraphobia flare ups!) I had a really great time, their friends (I'd met all but one previously which helped, mind!) are lovely, and I look forward to the next time. I've already mentally picked out a few of my games (that I verified they don't have) to bring along.
-
@Auspice That's awesome and I'm a bit jealous, hah. I've been meaning to get back into game nights, but haven't wanted to go to one alone.

It's about to go the fuck down.

They're cancelling SxSW due to coronavirus concerns. GOOD.
There were tens of thousands of signatures on a petition for this move. Austin doesn't need people coming in from all over the world rn.
-
@Auspice I feel the opposite. 350 million dollars sucked out of the Austin economy is rough, not to mention there were no cases reported in Austin itself.

Excuse the mess, still remodeling and cleaning and removing carpet in my room. But the PC is done and also the new monitor is a thing.

I love that my life is currently filled with people who are significantly smarter than I am, but who are also engaging and compassionate, and that I'm learning so many new things because of it, including about myself.

Double post because life is good I guess? Shockingly. When did that happen, wow.
'You have rogue girl written all over you' — conversation about D&D archetype preferences.
Thank you, I will take that compliment.
