Man, so the United States solved racism and homophobia.

Of course not. Now, however, among many other things, my spouse can be on my employer-paid health insurance. So, I'm going to feel happy, and you can go sit in a corner and eat a box of prunes.

I don't get the prune thing at all, but if it is because I offended you with my joke I do apologize. I have nothing but support for this decision, I was just feeling saucy.

      I'm a rodeo clown.

I am often mocked for both being from Baltimore and for using it as my Staff Name on TR. I work in the criminal justice system in Baltimore City, too, so I have a decent look at how things are. (I'm a PO).

But I mean we didn't solve racism until Wal-Mart stopped selling Confederate Flags. Duh.

I knew none of these things. I was attempting to be witty. Wit fail.

And hospital visitation rights, should the worse ever happen. This was one of the biggest concerns of some friends of mine, who have been together almost 30 years.

Emergency and post-mortem rights are often in focus. Property rights etc can be handled anytime, or even without legal proceedings, but these situations often place you in the hands of standard ethics and policies.

I have a waggish sense of humor.

You're not the only one who gets to joke. I'll let someone else explain the prunes, however.

@silentsophia Well, 5/9ths of it. I must admit, there's a small part of me that was hoping it would be 6-3. For shame, Roberts. For shame. I'm hardly surprised though.

I don't care how 'bad' or 'mean' this makes me sound... I love that both of my kids have been out of the house for the last week. Its been so quiet and nice, so easygoing... I'm going to miss it when they come back, even though I miss both of them.

@Miss-Demeanor I think that means you're a 'human parent'. I mean, even eagles sometimes shove their hatchlings out at some point.

@TNP At this point, I'll take what I can get.

Maybe it's different when you only have one kid. I hate when mine goes away. I miss the little monkey. Also, there is one less reason not to study.

Don't get me wrong, I miss mine when they go. But one is nearly 16 and one just turned 12, so when I say its been -years- since I've had a break from them? I mean they were still small children. >.>

I too love a quiet house that I get to be in by myself. My husband works at home and has for all of our together time (this has been very handy many times!), so for the last 15 years there's been another person around all the time albeit in a home office and then I have 4 children, 13, 12, 12, and 1. I think I can count the times I've truly had the house to myself in the last decade+ on half of one hand. But it is wonderful, even though I love my family.

                              Living alone. 🙂

Do what I want, when I want. Clean up only my own messes. No one eats my food or drinks my last beer. No arguments over what TV to watch or what music to listen to. No worry about being quiet while someone else is sleeping or being woken up by someone else moving around.

                              It's really quite nice.

Mine's only 6 and she's a good kid. But I am also an overattached mother.

My partner and I have lived together for over 26 years. I love him and am connected with him more than I have been with anyone else in my adult life. But when he goes away for a week or so, leaving me and the cat to our own devices, it's awfully damn nice.

Going out to do a day with a good friend of mine who is getting married come December, and she is up for helping me do this 'ring shopping' thing for my partner as well. And then finding more or less the perfect ring type in the second store we come across (reminiscent of my dad's long-ago stolen wedding ring), without it requiring me to sell a kidney.
