fighter practice on my lunch break
That'll probably be the most badass 6 words I'll hear all day.
Like...most people I know go home on their lunch break to let out the dog or do 20 minutes of yoga.
I salute you.
-
@Darinelle true. Probably not for insurance purposes. maybe if someone else was practicing their kung fu moves...

Probably not? I don't think homeowners' insurance covers that. It's really just one board though that had a hole in it that I couldn't see because the planter fell apart and dirt was everywhere covering it.
Why did you fall through the board? That's the key inquiry.
Although a homeowner's negligence is usually not covered by the insurance, a defect in the house that causes consequential damage usually is. If you were aware of the hole and simply forgot it was there, you likely are not covered; you caused your own injury. But if the board broke apart without notice or reason, and you feel through, you may be entitled to compensation.
The next question is whether your deductible makes it worth filing a claim. I'm guessing not.

So on April Fool's Day I fell through my deck while taking it easy and not doing fighter practice on my lunch break (I was doing a little light gardening instead). And not one of my friends that I told thought it was an April Fool's Day prank (it really wasn't). It's a little thing, but I love the people that know me well enough to know that 1) I don't prank, 2) I hate AFD, and 3) random bizarre accidents like that happen to me ALL THE TIME and this was nothing out of the ordinary.
my friends. <3.
my friends that do AFD 'jokes' about being ill or wounded are no longer my friends on april 2nd
BUT. YOU ARE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE DOING LIGHT GARDENING -
I'm thankful I've never had friends who pull April Fools jokes.
Most of my friends, we just share around our favorite websites/videos (like the one I shared in the Random Links thread).

Groan moment at work just now.
Coworker A: Hey, did you see <insert name of coworker from India> got a new Harley?
Me: No, is it in the lot? I saw the guy walking around with a new helmet but haven't seen it in the lot, yet.
Coworker B: A Harley? Surprised he didn't get an Indian
Coworker A and myself: Groan. You're an asshole, lol.
-
Indians just aren't the same nowadays. You gotta get a pre-1953 model. Everything since is really just a knock-off marketing off the name. So it wouldn't be worth it to buy one anyway!
-
@Ghost I snorted. Which scared my dog.
-
@Auspice It's a Harley...
...compatible. #mysterymen

Sidebar: I love my coworkers from India. At least about 70% of them. The greater percentage of them are pretty openly kind, low drama, love talking about movies and music, shove food down my throat, and ask me if I wanna partake in Holi and get assaulted with colored dye. They're typically great teammates without all of the ego.
There are about 30% who are pretty condescending and buy into that super judgy side of Indian culture that is if you don't dress super nice and drive an expensive car then I'm better than you, which my Indian friends at work explain is simply a thing all of them deal with; that level of pretentiousness.
A lot of them bring their kids to work. Indian kids are adorable.
My favorite cultural thing? The head-wobble. It's body language for I'm not saying yes or no, but I'm definitely not saying yes, I'm just saying that I don't necessarily agree and am doing it in a non-dickish way. The head-wobble is solid.
End sidebar.
The potlucks here are amaaaaaaaaazing
-
Ohhhh the potlucks.
When I worked at Verizon, my Indian teammate brought his whole family in for our potluck and his mother didn't get or just didn't care that we only had to bring a dish apiece.
She'd bring a whole spread and I loved it.

BUT. YOU ARE NOT EVEN SUPPOSED TO BE DOING LIGHT GARDENINGI am now 5 weeks in to a broken wrist, but it's only a little crack not a full on break and so 6 weeks is more than enough time for things to knit. I will be starting pell work again on Monday with a whiffle bat instead of a sword, because if I don't do something I'm going to lose my shit.
But if I sit around all day while this last fucking week passes I will also lose my shit so LIGHT GARDENING DONE MOSTLY WITH MY OFF HAND IS WHAT I'M DOING. I just wanted to repot a goddamn rose. Is that so much to ask? I am physically incapable of just sitting on the couch. There are too many things to be done and I just want to live my life.
@Ganymede Probably not worth filing a claim, tbh. It's just a board. Not negligence but just a board. I don't think anything's broken on me - or not anything that wasn't broken before.
-
I was able to pay my rent for another month.
I really really love this right now.
I may not be able to pay it in May unless I find a better job. But right now I have a place to live and that's fucking awesome.

Sleep dep resulting in random rants like this:
Because I mean lottery crazytown house.
I yearn for a walk-in pantry.
A spice rack of the gods.
possibly just a whole steel wall with the magnetic spice tins all over it, only sometimes arranged to spell out rude words
I MEAN COME ON YOU KNOW...
Spice wall arranged all FUCK THIS OUT OF SAFFRON
Though they make magnet boards out of the chalkboard stuff now? That you can use the chalk markers on then wash down? And I would totally.
Little arrow pointing to a tin all 'this is where the pink himalayan salt goes <HUSBAND>'
Another little arrow 'GODDAMMIT <FRIEND> how does one person even use that much sage'
It would be best kitchen
'FUCK YOU <ME> STOP HIDING THE SPICY SPICES' 'no'
not sure if I am describing heaven or hell right now but I know that is where I deserve to be living and so do all of you^ Not sure if this means too little or too much coffee, but definitely way too little sleep.
