RL things I love
-
I have a good boss. He's competent, fair, reasonable, and intelligent. He's flexible, honest, and straightforward. He did my eval last week, and recognized the things I bring to the team IN WRITING. I have never worked for someone like this before. It's so fucking amazing.

My bestie Chief got me the instax mini 8, and it is just the cutest thing ever in the world. I had a Polaroid when I was younger and I was grumpy it wasn't a new digital camera so I used it for like, one pack of instant pictures, never picked it up again, and promptly lost it or broke it or something. Fast forward to 2016 and all things retro are 'fetch' right? Well this thing is as lo-tech as could possibly be, there's not even a zoom function, lol. It's adorable though, and it turns out EVERYONE loves instant pictures, every time you take one everyone in the immediate vicinity wants to see how it came out, my coworkers were utterly obnoxious about it. So anyway, this is today's RL thing I love. -
Writing.
Just writing.
Just, being in that place where I can crank out anywhere between 750 and 2000 words in the morning before the bulk of people show up at the office.
Also, strangely enough (especially for some of you who know me well): waking up to line edits on things I've written. One person in particular has been helping me with the story I'm writing and she leaves me line edits every few days and when I see them I just kind of grin like a doofus and then whistle my way through fixing whatever I did wrong.
It's liberating to finally realize internally that things don't have to be perfect the first time around, or even the second, or third, or ever.
I didn't even write that much today, but I am writing consistently every day, even on weekends when I'm at home and distracted by all the things.
It's pretty neat.

So this came in today. I'm ready for the "Adult Themes" thread once again.

On the topic of things I love:
-
Provided my doc hasn't changed his mind... I'm being released today! Yay!
Now... do I crawl into my own damn bed or the shower first when I get home?
-
@Auspice Shower. You'll sleep better!
-
Leaving for vacation on Tuesday.
- The doom code glitch is probably handled.
- Communications foo gets handled tomorrow and will resolve a pile of other problems.
- We'll be getting down to FL right around the right time to help the husband's mother unmangle her condo. (She lives in Fort Lauderdale... which is where we're going first. Looking hard for a silver lining here, and being able to help her out is probably going to have to be it.)
- OMFG do I ever need a break this year. Yay for desperate attempts to recharge the mental and creative batteries.
- There shall be fudge from that bizarre Exxon megaplex on i95 in SC, because there always must be. If only to watch with amusement as all the people who insist they aren't breaking their die+t on the trip take one look at the salted caramel fudge and go, "Fuck that die+t shit," at warp speed.
- By the time we get back, my father will have regrown his Grizzly Adams beard, which he only does to irritate my mother, and it will be funny as hell to watch her bitch about it, because she's even more over the top with her nonsensical histrionic ranting than I am.

I was released from the hospital today.
My roommate had folded my laundry and left it in my basket on my bed (it'd been in the wash when I made the 911 call). She also brought me home a selection of instant Udon from Uwajimaya.
Srsly, I won the roommate lotto.
I also !!! won a pair of LuLaRoe leggings in a giveaway. I swear, I used to be anti-leggings, but goddamn theirs are so soft I just want to live in them.

You know, I'm still not actually certain what a catcall is.
-
When you wolf-whistle at a female and say sexually suggestive things to her.
-
Whereas I'd always heard it in the context of performances where it was a way of registering disapproval with something.
Language is weird.

I think someone was confusing catcalling and heckling?
-
-
How can you even express derision or disapproval with a whistle? Is someone carrying around a slide whistle and doing the 'sad trombone' thing to people?

I am not sure on other contexts but at European sporting events whistling is the equivalent of booing in the US.
And I have previously heard catcalling used in both manners it is referenced as in this thread. -
Put in an application and resume yesterday.
Had phone interview today.
Have real interview Monday.
It's nice to feel wanted.
