Even if the focus isn't on erotic RP(though it certainly could be) I'd just like to see more games that don't shame players for engaging in erotic RP. A lot of games nowadays have policies in place that amount to "do it but don't post logs about it or discuss it in any way" and I think that's a shame.
I'm not sure that's shaming as much as an attempt to cultivate a particular audience and/or not have the owner and staff on the hook for whatever possibly illegal stuff the players might get up to.
-
@GreenFlashlight That or just not wanting to read other people's erotic logs, or have them show up on the wiki. It's a little private.
-
I mean, I'm mostly in favor of people being able to post whatever logs they want. If it's erotic, just tag it with a disclaimer. But it should never be like, a culture of "post everything, everything."
-
Yeah, and especially when you get into roleplayed nonconsensual stuff. There absolutely has to be a barrier between public and private there, OR you need to make it excruciatingly clear to everyone from the start what people are getting into.

Exactly.
And any game that is primarily-erotic/sexual in nature/theme is going to be an exploration of kinks, many of them not a lot of other players's thing. So you gotta make sure everyone consents not just to participating but also to being made to spectate/witness certain kinks.

Like damn, let me be a wizard who does sexy wizard things, but also I can do other wizard things, and Doom Guy won't suddenly walk in like "I'M GONNA FUCK YOUR SEXY WIZARD THINGS!!!"
This sounds like if someone made an Oglaf MUSH.

I don't think this is meant to be shaming anyone? Like, I'm sure once upon a time the NO TINYSEX rule was because it was disgusting and bad and we should all be ashamed of ourselves, but nowadays? We have children that read over our shoulders, we check logs at work, we share a computer with everyone else in the family, etc.
It's not shaming the person that RPed it. It's just an extra layer of protection to be sure nobody clicks through something that someone forgot to tag NSFW.

I would totally play an Oglaf MUSH. Totally.

Just my opinion, but I think that if you're trying for maximum freedom/expression, the best thing to do is to have a clear line between 'public' kinks/logs and 'private' kinks/logs. There are things that I like for ERP that others don't like and there re things that other people like for ERP that I don't like. Neither myself nor others should seek to limit or kink-shame. At the same time, some of the more problematic kinks could be categorized in a way that they get played in private situations only and log tagged in the same way erotic stories on the net are to prevent others from accidentally reading a log that contains things and situations that they don't like or could trigger reactions (like rape or incest scenes). So, basically...
- Be 100% clear about what is and isn't allowed in Public
- Have a Tag system for logs that make the log contents clear to potential readers
2a) Potentially have a special Log section separate from the main logs to house logs with the more problematic kinks, to add an extra buffer.
-
If I came across as saying "everyone should post everything", that's not what I meant. Just that people should be free to share what they want without fear of being shamed. They should also be free to not post anything for whatever reason as well.
Also, anything that is posted should have clearly defined tags to let people know what is going on in the log. People who fail to do that should be dealt with accordingly(reprimanded and/or having their ability to post logs revoked).
I just don't buy into the "I don't want to read it, so no one should be allowed to post it" mentality.
-
Oh my God an Oglaf game with cumsprites for messengers would be amazing.
-
@saosmash where's my upvote???
-
Not that anyone asked, but maybe this will spark some kind of discussion. In a TS game, my generally most frequently played concepts are:
Slacker demon from hell who grants wishes, but the twist isn't that he wants your soul, it's that he wants to twist your wish into teaching you to sin and embrace your shames.
Mad scientist who is mostly focused on science, but resorts to Very Mad Science when he's attracted to someone. Like tampering with the laws of physics to bang a ghost.
Wizard who also does erotic wizard things and smokes magic hookah.
A Cheshire Cat man.
And various degenerate things that never quite get off the ground, but these are the three I tend to find myself playing most often, in that order, especially the first one.

@SinCerely SORRY I thought being vocal was better than just hitting it.

Isn't every MU* already devoted to Erotic RP?
Or TS, or whatever it is you kids call it these days.

Lol we can't even get through a thread about a potential erotic MU without people calling out kinks and fantasies they don't like. We're all terrible at not shaming.
