MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)

@cupcake I mean yes, I'm with you in theory.
It would need a LOT of thinking about though. Plus, theoretically they're going for season 2, and I'd hate to set a MUSH theme without knowing the rest of the story >.>

Activity in the Exalted thread makes me want to run that Dreams of the First Age game I've always wanted to do.
-
@vixanic Since they're based on books, those could be read. And it could probably be set between the creation of the Fold and the birth of the Sun Summoner?

John Carter of Mars/Barsoom -- everyone plays Red or Green Martians while John Carter is missing. Make the societies more egalitarian (like, egalitarian at all) when it comes to gender, and let everyone go adventuring around the world. Allow riposte mechanics with whatever system you're using so that even if you attack, you can get hit to demonstrate the dangers of an incredibly skilled fighter. Create an adventure Madlibs sytem: A (mad noble) is trying to (take over) (a lost an ancient city) of (Red Martians) by means of (mind control drugs in the food). Go!

riposte mechanics
Somehow that just makes me want some kind of Monkey Island MU* for Insult Swordfighting.

A game somewhere between Jonathan Strange And Mister Norrel and Fullmetal Alchemist centering around a country where mages are drafted into the military and police, and formal pacts have been drafted with Hell and Faerie to bolster their forces, but they are being manipulated to mysterious ends by these and other inhuman powers. And there's dragonriders in the royal air force because HELL YEAH.
This has been living in this fairly amorphous shape in my mind rent free for a while now and I pick at it sometimes when I entertain the fantasy of making a game, haha.

@ninjakitten ...how appropriate, you fight like a cow?

I don't know how long our sword duel will last, but now you're milking it.
(I know, that's not in Monkey Island games, I'm just preparing for the new Monkey Island RPG combat system.)

Loving the current X-Men game I'm on, but it sent me back down the rabbit hole that is X-Men Evolution. Best iteration of the X-Men, hands down. And a fantastically written storyline. So, it got me thinking about the possibility of continuing the Earth-11052 story, with the end of Season 4 serving as the game's start point.
-Focused theme (mutants only, with a few humans)
-Focused, small, city grid; Bayville
-Huge Roster of characters, both heroes & villains
-Multiple 'Factions'; X-Men, Brotherhood, Morlocks, Purifiers, SHIELD, Citizens
-Lots of classic comics storylines still to be used; Phoenix Saga and Days of Futures Past hinted at in the final episode -
Suddenly I have a mad desire to play a MU either set in Conan The Barbarian's world, or otherwise aping that style of fantasy. I feel like I remember someone saying they were working on a game like that; is that still/was that ever a thing?
-
I posted about wanting to do a swords-and-sorcery place on the older game ideas thread a while back using Masters of Umdaar? But that never went anywhere, no.
-
Random idea: A Lords and Ladies game of politics and backstabbing and whatnot; but set in a demon realm of monster people of all shapes, sizes, and weird hungers.
I would never make this game, but it might be neat if it existed.
-
A superhero-themed game using the Masks: A New Generation tabletop system. OC characters in a super school or something. I really feel like Masks could work well in a MU.

I want this so hard right now... I love Masks as an RP system and the playbooks they offer give SUCH a wide variety to choose from!
-
@too-old-for-this bruh it'd be soooo good
-
@headery It would! Imagine having a big metro area with a number of 'sister cities' that all have 3-4 groups of superheroes... and the way Masks is set up you don't have to stress about feeling 'under' powered or like you're 'falling behind' because there's only so far you can go before you hit your 'hero' moment and either the character succeeds or fails, but either way the story ends and you start fresh!

I just saw this.
I have been pondering an idea like this for while; though, more like playing the fae from Changeling rather than demons. Then again not much difference.

@ominous Could always go with the broader definition of 'demons' that pops up in Japanese work sometimes, where it's just kind of a catch all word for anything that's not human, so you have the equivalents of angels, elves and fairies and whatnot mixed in with the vampires and orcs and horrible horned monsters.

I'd be so down for this...If you make it, they will come.

@runescryer I think it's a concept with a lot of potential. I've only just started reading through the Masks book, but I keep thinking about how well the system would work with Coral Springs, a game I have mostly fond memories of. It really forces you to think about the narrative instead 'how many tons can my dude lift'.
