Anyone else really into their perfumes? I used to collect them years ago, but god knows what happened to my old collection, and I'm building a new one. I'm the kind of nerd who keeps a spreadsheet and I love talking about perfumes.
Right now, I'm trying out Arcana. I'm totally in love. It smells like a metaphysical shop, in the best way.
A long shot: Anyone have any Bordello that they're willing to part with?
-
@tek There are a few scents of theirs I still go back for, either because I'm too lazy or haven't figured out the combination for them to make myself.
I'm a huge fan of the RPG ones: Rogue, Bard, etc. as well as the alignments. Good, Evil, Neutral, Chaotic.
-
@macha I love Rogue.
-
@Aria I feel like this might be something you want to check out.
-
I looove BPAL but I haven't let myself get into it. I have some imps from like 15 years ago now, and my most recent purchase was a bottle of Nasty Woman, so whenever that was sold.
My favorite is probably O, but I also love Coyote, Whip, Dorian, Juliet... so many. My only other bottle is Purple Phoenix. Mmm.
-
@puppybreath I got a few from the recent activism lines (Georgia election, RAICES). I actually have ImPEACHment and Alternative Facts coming in my next order.
-
UHM. I can talk indie scents ALL DAY.
My most recent purchase was Ü from BPAL and the Mütter museum.
A mélange of balsams, leathers, and raw vanilla designed to evoke images of unearthed secrets and dusty, ancient libraries.
-
I have a pretty decent BPAL collection...somewhere in my room.
My favorite scent is an old one: MVJBA: Spring Training 2008. Scents from edibles (candy, fruit, coffee, etc) for some reason suit my body chemistry the best.
I do miss having BPAL parties, passing around scents and bowls of coffee grinds to clear our noses and making trades.
-
I don't have a problem. I can stop any time I want! >.>
(PS - Yes, the other two drawers are also full.)

For reference, for those of you who may be interested in other lines, I also recommend:
- Arcana Wildcraft
- Astrid Perfume (Note: Currently on winter break. Expected to reopen in February.)
- Nocturne Alchemy (Note: Currently on winter break. Expected to reopen in February.)
- Nui Cobalt
- Poesie
- Sixteen92
- Sucreabeille
- Whisper Sisters
If you want decants/samples of newly released collections, you can pre-order them from Angi at Ajevie and if you're into the whole luxury independent fragrance thing more than perfume oils, I recommend Perfumology. The owner, Nir, is a complete and total mensch and his mother is lovely and hilariously funny. Nir once tracked down a bottle of 4160Tuesday's Bodhi Language just for me, as well as selling my husband one of the few bottles of Buddhawood Box available in the US, and they're indescribably lovely.
-
@aria I've got a few Sucreabeilles in my collection. I find that they either don't work well with my skin or my skin eats them, but I've only tried a couple of the ones I bought so far.
-
BPAL is one of my favorite places for random impulse purchases that aren't video games or dice, but WOW y'all are organized. I just have a plastic box in my sock drawer where I hoard them and apportion tiny amounts of nice smells to portion out to myself as a reward for surviving weekdays.

Yeah, I've definitely had the skin-eating problem with at least one of my Sucreabeille perfumes. Winter hardly helps, when my already dry skin likes to just suck up every bit of moisture it can.

Mine are in a little box and I regularly forget that they exist until something (LIKE THIS THREAD) reminds me of them. So thanks for that! But absolutely no organization at all here, haha.
-
@aria I'm sure you've heard this before, but a little bit of vaseline on the inside of your wrists will help make it laaaaaast.
-
@badger
Years ago I bought the Embalming Fluid BPAL at the Muetter. It smells almost exactly like Tokyomilk's Everything and Nothing (which I refuse to believe WASN'T named after a David Sylvian album).
-
I got a sample of Titania at a Halloween party in the French Quarter many years ago, fell in love, and have been addicted ever since.
-
@tributary That's the one I love best and that loves me best. (There's one that's pennyroyal and...something, and I love it in the bottle, but on me it smells like zombie abortifacent.)
God, I miss BPAL parties.

@reimesu This reminds me of my review of their Jacob's Ladder release, which is one of their more common Yules.
"I was really looking forward to this one, but I have the exact problem with it that it appears everyone else is saying they didn't have -- the amber in this went straight to baby powder on my skin. Fancy baby powder for a baby with a fancy ass that needs fancy scents to keep it dry and comfy in its satin nappies, but definitely baby powder. And I don't want to smell like a fancy baby's fancy ass."
Skin chemistry is weird.
