I contacted Fitbit through their web site over mine they got back to me in less than 24 hours asking for my account name so they can look into it. They have data about its health fed upstream so maybe you can do the same? They might offer some non-generic advice or replace yours if it's faulty.

I thought about getting a fitbit. But I lift weights mostly so I don't know how useful it would be.

@BigDaddyAmin Not at all for weights, it has a 'weights' tracking program but all it can really do is measure your heart rate while you're at it. You can draw some data from that if you're that serious about your routine I guess but I doubt it can help push through a plateau or anything for most people.
It's a gadget, and I love it for that. I like gamifying things - it won't ever do something important on its own, but if having a Fitbit means I walk an extra hour a week just to get my score up, that's an hour's walk I wouldn't have been sitting on my ass otherwise. It's the same as Ingress, just a little additional motivation to stay active.

Yeah. I just got done doing Stronglifts 5x5 the past 4 months (went from 135lbs to 150lbs, deadlifting 280lbs. FTW). Now I'm looking for something else...Probably going on to the Texas Method since now I can't progress on my lifts like when I started.

@BigDaddyAmin Good luck! Stronglifts has an app IIRC which at least helps with keeping track of your progress, but I doubt any other gadget (except for a camera for form checks) will help much with that.

Those beginner gains are strong. It's brutal when you hit the slow down. I'm still on at least one more day of taking it easy from oral surgery. It's some bullshit.
