@Vorpal He's been a donor for awhile, and he was getting a tour, mentioned his presentation, and had a pretty decent list of places he'd given the same presentation. My bosses just didn't ask those places for a reference, is all.
-
@dontpanda Aah, I see. Well, at least it's a lesson learned for them! It just sucks that it came in the shape of time you'll never get back

This reminds me of the time a company I worked for brought in a guy from the California office to train Windows OS Tech Support guys, but the guy from California only knew Mac computers, so he couldn't train us on what our job focus was...support for windows machines.
...and we still had to finish the training.

I didn't watch the Superbowl, but someone linked me the commercials anyway.
Now I have PuppyMonkeyBaby stuck in my head, and the way to get rid of earworms doesn't work because it's three fucking words!

Enjoy your nightmare fuel...

@Misadventure I think you misunderstand. It has nothing to do with 'adolescent behavior'. Dogs have the self-awareness of a toddler. They can be HIGHLY intelligent, and CAN be very well-trained. But you will always have to walk them, you will always have to pick up after them, you will always have to clean up their shit and bathe/groom them. There's no point in a dog's life where they gain the self-awareness to clean up after themselves. I'm not talking about the barking or jumping or any of the stuff that's learned behaviors or bad habits that weren't discouraged. I'm talking basic care.
-
I'm not sure what you are referring to. I wasn't responding to you, just making a statement on how to make a pet less codependent. The behaviors I mention are ones that adult animals stop doing in the wild but keep as pets. Feral cats are starting to pick up a lot of it as part of the domestication process for cats. Even out in the wild.
That's all.

Long time alcoholic. 3 days sober. Headaches, nausea, fever, shakes. Fun times. Why did I do this to myself? I would like to kick younger me's ass.
-
@Misadventure Fair enough! I thought you were posting in response to my statement about dogs vs cats. My apologies!
-
I have two dogs (and a cat, and a cockatoo...). If they're barking I go bring them inside immediately; if they do it at my neighbors for any amount of time I'm embarrassed and want to apologize, not blame them for having the audacity to stand outside their own home while my pets make noise and disturb everyone.
What's wrong with people.

It depends on the person. For example, some people have fucking cockatoos.

Showing me a picture of your monster bird isn't helping your case. Also, he sure as fuck sounds like he is. I have never had such a frustrating Skype call in my life, and I've had Skype calls that just end repeatedly for no reason. Which, come to think of it, would have been a blessing when assaulted by your horrifying pet's death knell. At least, I hope it was a death knell, 'cuz fucking dying is the only reason something should sound like that.
-
Now, I have this image of Ark's bird.

@Coin Rusty doesn't like it when she can't be part of conversations her humans are in. She was merely singing the song of her people!
You should (?) see her when she's listening to Beyonce or Queen, that damn pink featherball goes crazy with excitement. But she's really sweet (for example she'd never bite anyone even though she can chomp through enormous pieces of wood in a heartbeat and she murders cardboard boxes), especially when she's being petted. An annoying little raptor she can be but she means well.

My ears are still ringing, is all I'm saying.

@Coin This isn't my bird but she might as well have been.

I did the thing last night where I get bored and check out my ex's social media. :rage3:
-
@tragedyjones I had to block one particular ex on Facebook just to keep myself from doing this.
