Fucking inability to sleep. I have been waking up 1-2 hours early every morning (or more) for weeks now, regardless of what time i go to bed. This morning it was sleeping in to wake at 5. I am so tired.

That isn't an upvote in celebration! It's an upvote in commiseration. Right there with you. On average I manage about 3-4 hours of sleep. Tonight has been 0. I feel your pain.

In my line of work, I like to think of some honor among thieves.

I am enraged when a party, five days before final hearing in a divorce case, decide that they want to have an in-chambers interview of a couple's 9-year-old kid regarding who he wants to spend more time with.

That's fucking low. That's really fucking low. And as much as I should blame the party and not their attorney, attorneys have some obligation to guide their clients into making rational decisions.

I wasn't planning to spend my spare time this weekend reviewing everything for the umpteenth time, but I want to be ready to destroy this motherfucker in the worst way on the stand.

The guy who tried to rape me years ago tries to contact me every so often (when I still lived in OH, he actively stalked me). It's passive usually, like following my social media accounts from new accounts. Sometimes he'll email me.

But goddamnit it still makes me ill whenever I see his name pop up.

People bringing up the "hot coffee" lawsuit as an example of people being sue happy.

                sigh.

third degree burns and skin grafts =/= coffee that is a reasonable temperature

                    Better examples:

"In this case we are called on to determine whether a cow is an uninsured motor vehicle under appellants' insurance policy. We hold that it is not."

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

"The City of San Antonio ("City") wants exotic dancers employed by Plaintiffs to wear larger pieces of fabric to cover more of the female breast. Thus, the age old question is before the Court, now with constitutional implications, is: Does size matter?"

                    Enjoy!

@ganymede Sure, there are plenty of really good examples of what the person was going for. The use of the hot coffee thing is what annoys me, not the 'sue happy' thing. Because the hot coffee bit was a very legitimate lawsuit. 3rd degree burns. 8 days in the hospital. Skin grafts. Like. Augh.

I got a flu shot a few weekends ago.

                            Now I have the flu.

                            WTF, flu shot?

@thenomain I had to forward that link to my father for exactly that reason, because puns are the ultimate in Dad humor.

(Don't judge re: adult content, y'all. We had to both work at a mom&pop video store together one summer to help out a family friend that owned the joint, and we all know what makes up the bulk of rentals in those places. If it couldn't be joked about, somebody would have surely died of facial implosion due to blushing.)

The guy who i last laid eyes on in 1988 (when I was a very young teen) who stalked me through my biz and showed up unannounced and freaked out my suitemates, even after I told him I would not take him on as a client and to not contact me again...

Showed up at my organization general meeting, chatted with me for a few minutes before asking about my Massage business (which I completely shut down months ago), which started to set off alarm bells and then introduced himself.

It was terrifying (don’t care if no one believes it should be). I feel very upset and violated. And worried about escalation.

@mietze I would be terrified, too -- and for precisely the same reasons.

Is there someone you can talk to in the org regarding security? (I really, really hope so. There ideally should be if there are political figures involved, but I am hoping they care about the safety and well-being of everyone present, and would think they absolutely should.)
