@Cupcake I concur. Sharing a set of parents? Big deal. I don't speak to my brother either as he's a rabid, far right asshole. He's toxic and I don't need that kind of person in my life.
-
@Cupcake I'll chime in with the others on this.
Cut. The. Ties.
I say this as someone who walked away from his parents for close to five years before we finally started normalizing our relationship. I'm convinced to this day that had I not done the severing there never would have been a normalization. It took the shock of me walking out to wake them up. (Well, him, since it was in particular my father I had issues with.)
-
@WTFE. Same. Threw up double deuces and peaced out. After about six years and the birth of a new grandchild, we've at least began speaking again. I'm still not at the point that I'm keen on being around her frequently but I'll at least call and be mostly cordial every couple of months.
Like you said, I think for some people they need the other person to walk away without a fuck to give for reality to hit them in the face. Especially that side of my blood. They/We are stubborn as sin.
-
It's not too hard to cut the ties. My brothers were all adolescents when I was born, so while having five brothers, I was also an only child. However, this particular brother was the one I looked up to as a kid, the one I felt "got" me.
So, you know. Easy and hard, at the same time. I'm waiting to hear if my therapist can fit me in sometime in the next two weeks and hopefully help me process the delayed reaction.

@Coin, good point. Stubborn as something that is very stubborn. A donkey or something, probably.

I would call it the official coin of 2016, regardless.

Let's do this.
- you and I have a different definition of cute,
- you--you do understand how human reproduction works, right? >.>
- We both know I make cute things.
- Yes. When two people love each other very much, God gives a diamond to the stork...

- You made a cute thing--let's not get ahead of ourselves,
- Yeah, but who has to pay for the diamond? Yeah, not that bearded fuck. I ain't got that kinda dough!

Since I am using the name I should be That Guy here and point out donkeys are especially stubborn about the same as horses for the most part, it is mules that are known for their stubbornness and the definitely deserve that rep.
Must be part of the hybrid thing but mules tend to be both more intelligent than either of their parent species but also far more stubborn. -

You do not get to dictate people's grief.
You do not get to dictate who they grieve, why they grieve, or how they grieve.
Grief is not a binary. Grieving for Person A does not mean you don't or wouldn't grieve for Person B.
And while we're at it?
I am a Social Justice Bard, fuck-you-very-much.

You are awesome.

@Sunny NO, YOU.

The fact that the Numpad keys and the phone number pad keys are reversed fucks me up so bad at work...
