Yep! I posted the link to it in the cheap games forum too since we didn't have a game news forum. This is great news, imo.

I'm undecided. Why do you think this is good news?

Small note, this will NOT change the owner of Scion/Trinity Universe, which are owned by Onyx Path.

Hooray for that.

As a publisher they do have a wide catalog of great games that have come out. And they don't seem like the type of publisher that does some of the more shady things like EA - pushing dev teams to hurry through products just to get it out. By all perceived impressions they value the developers who they publish for and value the games they put out.
And it is the dev teams they have access to that gives me interest. Can you imagine what a game might turn out if they handed some of the development of a new game over to Obsidian Entertainment or Taleworlds. The possibilities.

I'm excited.

Per Rosecond Bailey on the OP forum:
'We knew this deal was brewing, but can't talk about it right now.
As far as I know, this includes all White Wolf games still owned by CCP, including both Worlds of Darkness and Exalted. It does not include White Wolf games now owned by other people, such as Scion, Trinity, and Scarred Lands."

I assume this is Paradox Interactive and not Paradox Entertainment.
(internet check) Yup, it's PI :: https://twitter.com/ShamsJorjani/status/659711362185211904

Not being a video game person I am decidedly on the fence on this. ...I also fear means I will have to wait even longer for changeling 20th anniversary.
My main hope now is that it comes out before it would be more apply named Changeling 25th anniversary. -
I like the paradox games I've played. I am not sure how they will handle the tabletop stuff, though.

@silentsophia
Probably by continuing to license them to OP and BNS. -
The paradox people are talking about "One world of darkness" and
https://twitter.com/ShamsJorjani/status/659808852288884736
"the past few years we've seen the brand going in many directions at the same time - not good. We'll see more coherence going fwd"My reading of this together with the fact they're resurrecting the White Wolf website and are directing people to watch the White Wolf twitter is that they're going to bring OPP and BNS back under the White Wolf brand while letting OPP and BNS continue to be the people developing the products.
-
I am skeptical. Extremely rare are the benevolent buys of brands to 'fix it' without some alternative agenda afoot.
-
Since I don't like the direction OP has been taking in the last few years - their GMC line is better than 1.0 but that's not saying much - I'm hopeful this might be good. The brand has been watered down a lot, they can't even pretend to hold deadlines, they're alienated from hobby stores... it's a mess.
This could be good. Unless, of course, it's not.
-
So who wants to take bets on when the new world of darkness strategy game will be announced.
-
I invest in the min-max telenuke tech tree. Also the Sexy and the Over The top lines.
-
Goddamn FotM builds. I had it first.
-
I'm imagining a Vampire/Jyhad type grand strategy game modeled after EU and it sounds amazing in my head.

Cross-posting.
Per Martin Ericcson, the new WoD lead at Paradox Interactive:
"Hia! I favour using the term Lead Storyteller instead of the more corporate / impersonal Creative Director or whatever. I'll be stewarding the WoD storyline across all media formats and guard it's themes and moods across multiple game lines working with multiple teams and products. My personal WoD collection includes a HUGE amount of NWoD material next to my beloved OWoD and Promethean is one of my all time favourite games. That being said, it's too early for me to even hint at our plans. The deal got done a few days ago, so thank you for your patience. The dark has a purpose."
