MU Things I Love

@cari
Pretend they just ran off and since no one knows why you can provide everyone with closure by explaining that what you did, they did. You would really be remiss as a friend if you didn't lie to them! I mean, having someone just disappear like that, it can wreck people.Blaming them for your crimes is really a public service at this point.

@Cari
Also, if people are threatening OOC consequences for IC choices feel free to let us know. Apos told me there isn't a global cool down on bannings.
-
@darinelle This was very much a "I can see it coming but it's not here yet and I'm going to deal with at as best I can when it does get here" situation...but then it didn't get here So at least in this case there shouldn't be any fallout.

I RPed last night for the first time in well over a year. Maybe almost 2? Rusty as hell but it was fun anyways. Now just have to make myself keep chugging along until the performance anxiety fades. I guess it is a little like riding a bicycle.
-
@mietze I picked up a character after about two months down and I thought I was having a hard time. Good on you! Have fun!

MU thing I love: constructing elaborate IC plans.
I love PLANS. Each step, each little nuance that needs to be addressed to make something cohesive. Finding the people that fit in to each role, finding the information that supports each action of each person. And then at the end? Just letting it all go to the roll of the dice and seeing if you were a good planner The perfect balance of control freak and (mostly) random chance.

@vulgarkitten
Because you're one of those crazy planning people, who plans. I bet you even have a GANTT chart for your character. You...planner...you.

Hah! I don't, but I do have a type of meter that keeps track of certain events and I use it to partially determine reactions and actions of the character.

A kittometer?

That moment when you are staring at the screen, knowing there's a ton more to say or do, but one line already there that you're trying to reply to really just sums it all up so perfectly there is nothing to add. You try half a dozen times to come up with a reply, and it's just like... nope, that nailed it.
The most worth-it frustration in the hobby, srsly.
-
To follow-up @surreality: The moment when you see people realize how much you can say with very little.
-
Planning a smaller-scale event and having it be AMAZING. And way less stress. People really make all the difference

I love this one, to the surprise of no one.

This is kind of a weird one, but it is pretty spectacular.
When shit goes not quite sideways but definitely oblique, you can't tell why, and have no clarity at all re: what the heck is going on, but know something's gone screwy? ...and you're unexpectedly stuck in one of those spots where the resulting IC misery just sorta seems to loom like the sword of Damocles over your head as something way less than fun that doesn't seem to be anybody's fault?
...the collection of people who grab you by the hand/hair/back of your shirt/seat of your pants and drag you into Fun and/or Fascinating Things To Do without ever even knowing what's going on, just that you're somewhat down and not seemingly not so excited as you usually are.
These people are amazing.

Scenes that are so good you dream about them.

When you're dealing with a fairly tricky situation OOCly and ICly and one of your MU-friends ( @fortydeuce ) totally steps up to the plate and helps you navigate through it.
Really, all the praise to @fortydeuce. I was about ready to toss up my hands and stomp off into the night this afternoon before she took charge.
-
When some sort of IC drama that involves your character has apparently been going on for awhile and pops out of the blue to take you COMPLETELY by surprise, and you find yourself laughing and thinking 'omg how did I not see this coming?' but then feel mostly proud that it was such a non-issue for you.
-
So, as I was talking to my best friend today, about our characters and specifically how mine is fairly psychologically damaged, I started seeing the utterly obvious parallels between my character and myself. And as I continued to pick recent events apart, I started realizing how much I use my character as a vessel to understand my own damage. I really found myself figuring my shit out, seeing behaviors in her and because there was a distance, I was able to really see the threads of cause and effect and see my RL behavior and feelings from a perspective that really helped me pinpoint problem areas. I really appreciate the fact that this medium allows for that kind of self-reflection and growth opportunity.

Sometimes, all it takes is one moment, one scene, and one player to rejuvenate your interest in a game.
Please be that player when you can.
-
When you can finally relax and enjoy the game you've worked hard to build up with the help of great players. It's a game. If you aren't enjoying yourself, why are you doing it?
Being thanked by numerous people for ripping a band-aid off.
