Still Flyin' Mu* Crew
I'm trying out Still Flyin' and I am quite enjoying it so far. Right now I am working on a ship Captain who, in ways, is going to be a female Jayne. I'm still working on details beyond that. Anyone interested in forming a crew with me?

RE: Hog Pit as read only
@jomomomo said in Hog Pit as read only:
It had effects that would go beyond just the message board subscribers. It wasn't like this hidden enclave beyond the view or senses of anyone who "opted out." The amount of manufactured and unnecessary drama that spilled out into the games themselves, discord chats, etc. is incalculable. And yeah - I subscribed because one day I was minding my own business and suddenly started getting paged by all these people asking me about some made-up, misconstrued BS that was emanating from that cess pit.
So.. It spread just like anything people upset about regardless of what game/hobby/whatever it is complaints about? Humans talk and gossip, no matter how much they claim they ignore it and don't do it. Who would have thoughts humans were being humans that were upset about something they perceived as offensive/perceived as a person being awful and that spread out of a single platform. If upset feels didn't spill into other things we would not have constant coverages about celebrities' or political figures.

RE: What do you look for in a game?
For me theme doesn't overly matter. I generally superficially pick a place by its name unless I am looking for something specific. It's all about the people for me.

Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
I was idly pondering this morning what kind of mu*s I would love to see. They may not happen or may already exist. I guess it's more of what would be fun for someone to play. For me...
A Mob Style Mu*. With gangsters, police trying to get them, etc. Smuggling ringspinstriped suits, etc.
Firefly based mu*
Anything fantasy (that isn't WoD)

RE: Hog Pit as read only
Forums like this also allow easier cooling off period than places like Discord or Skype. Skype is instant so the 'You're being an asshole about my friend!' keeps ticking along as people rant. Although, it also allows boiling of tempers. So, double edged sword?

RE: FOMO and MUSHing
Maybe it doesn't bother me because I have little to no attachment to my characters. If I want to be in plot I'll generally make my own. I'm also very much a social mu*er. So, not going on 'big adventures' does not bother me. I am entirely okay with my char once in a while getting a moment to shine but otherwise I'm chilled about everything.

PS. I can probably think of more but I got sick of typing where I couldn't see. I do not like how the typing box cuts off!

RE: Requiem for Kingsmouth closing
It makes me think rather well of the head staffer, surprisingly. She chose to close down a game some people obviously love because she didn't want to let her visions and what people seem to be enjoying go to pot. It does make the game go off on a good note over, say (as the only ones that was busy and active, that I know) The Reach and Firan's going down. (Not that TR is fully down or anything). Good for head staff for caring enough to keep his or her vision for the current Kingsmouth what she wanted it to be and what people seemed to enjoy.

RE: Thundergulch
Okay! This would be one of the times having a Discord would be good. I otherwise don't mind either way if people have discord or not.

RE: Attachment to old-school MU* clients
Should also bear in mind.. not all games are 'web client' enabled. Also, not all of them use or like Ares or Arx-Evennia. So, browser is also not an option for some games. I can't say I know of any other codebases that have web-side connection capabilities. I don't think it is really it has to do with attachment. Also, the client does the things I like far better than the web-versions.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
OMG, @Royal I could totally dig that. And it would be like a 3 or 4 room grid. The coffee House, Monica and Rachel's apartment me, and Joey and Chandeler's (sp?) place.

RE: Alternative Lords & Ladies Settings
How I am doing Atharia's stuff:
Rulers (not all L&L games use King/Queen): 1 of the 4 kingdoms prefer male leaders. It has nothing to do with males being superior/better/whatever it is simply tradition and there are outlier cases of females being leaders but because it is not traditional they do have to work harder to prove themselves. Another kingdom is matriarchal, same as for males but females are the leaders and males are the outlier cases. Another kingdom, regardless of gender, leans towards eldest child being the next ruler. The final kingdom has no preference on gender or age just who has proven, to the current leader, that they should be their heir. Whether its true or not is open as they could be the worst leader ever but they have the current leader thinking otherwise.
Spouses: The rulers can have up to 3 'spouses', technically, but only 1 person is the 'true spouse' and holds the same title as the ruler (AKA King and Queen). This match is typically political. Commoners can't marry up, my hard rule on this. HOWEVER, their Consorts are the 'loves' of the ruler, they are noble or common. The 3rd Spouse is basically the Concubine (We call them Supporters). Their relationship has little involving politics or love. They are typically taken on because, for whatever reason, there is no heir. The Supporter is considered on par with, I think I said princess and prince (in the case of kings and queens) but I'd have to double check. HOWEVER, Supporters job is to give heirs to the ruler. There is no love or political matches involved. They are expected to be with the ruler only and only rulers (AKA title holders) can have a Supporter.
Relationships: There is no expectation of Chasity, no expectation of fidelity (unless that is what the couple wants), no gender preferences for who marries who (Anyone can have a child, male or female. Don't think to hard on how it would work, I don't). So, A man can marry a man, a woman can marry a woman, man to woman, trans to man, etc. Whatever gender can be with whatever gender they want.
Racism: Skin color has zero matter. two white parents could have a native child and people just know it is theirs, some how. Basically, the parents can be any RL race they want, as can the child. Sure, it might make no sense if you do how genetics work RL. Atharia has meddlesome Gods, so the 'blooded families' can be any RL race they want. NOW, there are some 'race features' specific to each kingdom, nothing to do with RL. Like one kingdom is glowy, one kingdom is Elfy, 1 kingdom is ghostly, 1 kingdom is 'orcy' (as in their skins are something like shades of blue, green and purple I believe, I forget what ranges I specifically said off hand)
These are things done with just my staff present. Some of it might change with players while interest is tested in certain aspects of the game.

RE: Decriminalise Pretty
Except for traits some friends prefer for looks I have the policy of 'if I gotta look at its ass, it is going to be pretty'. I blame my WoW days for that since im WoW you stare at the back of a bit pretty much the whole time. I say WoW but I mean any video game you can customize. WoW just happened to be one of the first I played where I could customize. In essence, the descriptions I write are typically what I like with little to no regard to what others find appealing. The only exception is for friends if we are making a couple together. Then I work towards making us both happy.
However, being pretty seems the norm on the games I play. It seems like those that aren't 'hot' are the ones people ignore. Looks are often so important to people it causes stalking and females to avoid playing females. The exception for hotness being if the character is powerful. So, I think the looks issue. just depends on the culture bred by the game's genre and the type of play it encourages.

RE: Welcome to the world of Atharia
I decided to edit the original post to be the updated version of Atharia's ad. Also deleted my other posts to make the ad topic look a little cleaner from my side.

RE: GMs and Players
The people who keep returning to places they are not wanted confuse me. I suppose it is a 'you can't stop me and let me prove it to you' situation. But, if someone kicks me off their game on the word of someone else I'll be a little hurt and angry but I am likely to forget that I feel that way and about the game because it 'doesn't want me.'

Because I am dumb.. I accidently deleted this. @Arkandel is best Arkandel for pointing it out.
