RE: Shadowrun Denver & New Plot
@Thenomain Agreed. When I played SR I couldn't tell what I hated more, playing a decker or GMing for a party with one.

RE: Good TV
@Wizz Where would you put them? He doesn't need to go for the cities, just visit graveyards and such. Can you imagine how many somewhat fresh corpses there still are after the War of Five Kings?

RE: Looking for potential staff for a Colonial Marines (Aliens) game
@auspice I don't know that I'd take up on that offer, or even that I like it, but it's fascinating.

RE: Bump In The Night: A Chronicles of Darkness MUX
@Roz Of course. What can possibly go wrong?

RE: Good TV
@Auspice The best powersets for TV are ones like Black Bolt or the Flash... extremely easy for SFX to recreate without a lot of money.
That's conversely why vampire shows (fang prosthetics + red contacts) are so much more popular than werewolves (a shit-ton of more FX).

RE: Make MSB great again!
@sunnyj The list of games can definitely be useful, but it's also one of the things anyone can do right now. Start a thread, make a list of games with their wiki address, MSB threads or any other synopsis you think is relevant then keep it up to date by editing that first post.
I'll be happy to sticky and make sure it stays clean. I just won't do it myself.

RE: The Wheel of Time
I kinda agree. Unless they are willing to pull a Ned Stark here, Moiraine isn't supposed to be the story's protagonist by any means.
And of course she's a more interesting characters than the others. She has much more screen time than the rest combined at least in this season.

RE: Shadowrun Denver & New Plot
@faraday That's one of my frequent questions for games like D&D as well. What do characters get to do when they're not adventurers? The entire game's mechanics are geared towards quest, get items, level up, repeat.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Today the barbell wouldn't move, someone must have glued it to the floor.
But now the fun part begins. Okay gravity, you took your best shot... it's my turn.

RE: Make MSB great again!
@jennkryst it's trivial for me to setup a media wiki and only give edit access to a few reliable folks curating the content for the explicit purpose of updating links to MU*'s sites and MSB threads.
However it's probably more convenient to have it in a thread here, just so it stays in-house so to speak. Maybe. If a good idea comes up we can discuss it, I can set up anything we need (*) as needed.
(*) Remember - I'm good, but I'm lazy.

RE: The Wheel of Time
@rucket Yeah but that's not at all how season 1 went/has gone so far. Except for one episode I'd argue every other has focused half of its time on Moiraine's point of view. For example Perrin has gotten very little focus. Mat has barely done anything that gave the character a voice or agency. Rand is a bit bland although at this point in the books that's justified.
Nynaeve had more moments, mind you, although that's partly because of the actor's excellent chemistry with Lan's (which, to me, is one of the most promising parts of the show). And Egwene had last week's episode to shine a bit.

RE: Shadowrun Denver & New Plot
@Jennkryst No, I suppose I see it, I just come from a long streak of games where people can play anything thematically possible within their world, from CEOs/House Heads to criminals, doctors, police officers, drug addicts... anything. The idea of being so restricted is a bit alien to me.

@Meg They didn't say anything. I doubt the guy even believes it.
He's just a troll and we're the day's entertainment.

RE: What is your God-Machine
My God-Machine is a conspiracy, a system whose influence has grown with the rise of mankind itself so it's only invisible because we lack the baseline any more to tell what the world would be without it. It was first discovered then further advanced through the ages by an elevated pantheon of small Gods able to harvest a particular resonance from human beings to further their causes. It is thus an invention, as it did not originally exist; it's still evolving after a fashion but only internally, into an ever-greater refinement of itself.
Among those Gods that birthed it some have waned in power and are now extinct (or are now barely able to function due to extended starvation) while others are patrons of popular notions and are thriving, so they're doing everything in their power to further and integrate their agenda on the world even more. They are using their apostles among the populace, driven by Angels, to achieve this; occasionally a champion rises around whom they can build - most of our most celebrated historical figures were numbered among them.
Like liches they maintain the status quo because if they fear one thing above all others it is a true paradigm shift, something unprecedented that'll prove incompatible with their system, bringing an end to their reign. Therefore everything has to be a derivative, a product of something which came before, so that any radical turn must be suppressed, diverted from its course and stalled to irrelevance.
Time is their ultimate tool since it's the one inexhaustible resource they have left; their failures are buried in its depths (Atlantis, Lemuria, the Library of Alexandria, long-gone Empires, etc). My campaign would be based on exploration of ancient resources as characters hunt down what they're not supposed to find in whatever it is these Gods feared in the first place enough to take corrective measures, while being tempted with elevation to the status of champions or even Godhood itself themselves once they start getting too near to dangerous truths. I'd also throw some dilemmas for good measure - would they risk humanity realizing they've been played for millennia? Would they care ?
... That's what I got.

@runescryer said in The Wheel of Time:
Also, I'm thinking that Matt didn't join them because the plan for the series is for him to go off and start his booty call storyline in Season 2. Not sure how he's going to get his spear and medallion if that's the case.
My theory is it's due to whatever happened with Mat's actor.
I simply think he wasn't available to shoot episode 7 (or 8?) at all.

RE: Shadowrun Denver & New Plot
I never played Shadowrun for long - a handful of sessions, although I really liked their street Samurai mechanics for cybernetics.
What has stayed with me after all these years though (and maybe it's nostalgia talking, I haven't re-read it in forever) is the Secrets of Power novels trilogy. When I first went through it though it was pretty damn good, starting from the perspective of a lowly corporate wage slave then taking him through the paces of shamanistic magic - very cool. Back in the day I really wanted to play in that setting, whatever it was.
But then again I always liked learning theme from the inside out through novels when possible, dice be damned.

I was just saying that if people think that the behavior we've seen here over the last few months is not only acceptable but somehow appropriate or ideal for the community and that nothing should change (or...can change?
Why would this thread exist if that was either acceptable or appropriate? @WTFE can have his opinion, but I don't happen to agree with it. If I did I wouldn't be here either.
