      @ZombieGenesis said in Good TV:

      Honestly, I'll stick with the random media articles. Why? When you go to targeted sites that seem to have 1 opinion that opinion is really only shared by a fraction of that particular site(which makes up only a fraction of the fanbase which, in turn, will only make up a fraction of people who will watch this TV show). The end result is a minimalist subset of people whose opinion will have 0 impact on the success of the show or whether or not I personally watch it. It sucks if you're a fan of those sites and you consider those communities home but, in the end, they represent a very small portion of people. And, as of yet, those opinions have not escaped into the wild. Not even The Quartering on YT is going on about any of this yet and he'll latch on to any "white injustice" topic to get hits on his channel.

      There is validity to this.

      I mean, how often here on MSB do we remind ourselves/each other that we're only a fraction of the MUing community as a whole and that one group's outrage here represents a very small minority?

      Also: hardcore fans (the sort that are on fan sites) tend to hate ANY changes, period. They (claim to) want the book or source media repeated on the screen word-for-word despite how frequently that is utterly unreasonable.

      @gryphter said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:

      I don't even fucking know anymore. Somewhere between sitting here trying to persevere through a panic attack and complete my work, and erasing my personal files from my (rented) personal computer so I can return it as I can't seemingly afford the one object in this house that sparks joy, I really feel like I am on the brink of a nervous breakdown. Why in the hell am I battering myself against this joyless, soul-killing job only to not afford my life? My complaining about my job and my (new) complaining about struggling with the onset of this anxiety disorder are starting to sicken me, I can't stand to listen to myself anymore, but I also can't continue to grind myself into a fluffy, irritable, panic-ridden dust so that I can eke the minimum possible amount of joy and enjoyment out of life. I want to get the fuck off.

      I've been there, I really have. I was there up until just a month ago.

      Job hunting (to get away from the bs) is hard, but I found LinkedIn made it a lot easier on me since many companies let you just do a one-click-apply using your profile. That made it a lot easier to keep at it (the job hunt) on the days I was incredibly depressed. Because hey, I could at least hit the one-click apply button on half a dozen jobs, even if I lacked the mental fortitude to fill out apps or write cover letters.

      @Auspice I'm trying. I'm looking. This is a bad day; the final bastion of something I could point to and say 'well, at least I earn that from all this mental sickness I'm taking on' falls today. It's dumb; this object shouldn't be so meaningful that it's the thing breaking my shit right now to sit here and strip it clean, but I'll be damned if it isn't. Earlier today I was looking into remote freelancing opportunities... going to need a computer for that, though. Blah. You suppose the 'old' job will just let me keep their rig if I ask nicely? Tee. Tee hee.

      Nonetheless, thank you for your encouragement.

      Shitty jobs are, well, shitty.

      I think if my current job wasn't paying me enough to survive (I got paid today, paid bills, and have enough left to be comfortable: that's not something I've had in at least 3 years) and was a good environment, I'd not be feeling good. The work is hard, stressful, and terrifying at times. I desperately miss my anti-anxiety meds (the insurance for the job doesn't kick in until October and though I can afford MORE, I can't afford all my meds even with stuff like GoodRX so I'm having to pick and choose the important ones out of my 8 scripts).

      I know the 'it'll get better' stuff doesn't always help, but I know being able to keep up job apps even on bad days did help for me (because it kept me from beating myself up more for being inactive/lazy).

      Double-post for my own thing:

      I think I'm more sick than I thought I was.

      I was messaging with a friend about SGM today during one of my 'awake but not out of bed so I'll lie here and use my phone' moments earlier today and I sent the link to the game.

      ...or so I thought.

      Just realized I sent it to a group text with my parents instead. (and I have no idea how I managed that, so I must have been feverish/out of it)

      For a warrior race, they sure do like leaving their chest exposed to whatever weaponry happens to pass by. So much cleavage.

      I watch DS9 episodes every so often lately in a slow crawl through the series and that was my exact thought with these chars. SO MUCH CLEAVAGE.

      @Derp

      I'm not sure if MakeupGeek has any videos that might help. Back when I was watching her, she was very helpful and though she herself has an Italian complexion, she did a lot of neutral looks. I wouldn't be surprised if she's expanded into providing details for men.

      Beyond that, all I could suggest personally is to maybe check forums (like MakeUpGeek's) and ask around or find a beauty vlogger you like (this is the hard part: 95% of them these days are only 'nice' so far as it gets people to give them money) and send a message asking their advice.

      People can bring their dogs to work.

      One lady has keys that sound exactly like a dog's tags. Every time she walks by, I think it's a doggo and am inevitably disappointed.

      But please, don't take offence or take it personally."

      FML. I just want to go back to developing other people's web designs. This having to come up with the web app design sucks.

      I started to go into web dev when I was in my late teens.
      I didn't last long.

      The 'oh, you're the expert, just make it however you think is best!' that inevitably becomes 'this isn't what I wanted at all' (well mf'er maybe if you'd given me any idea what you did want...) drove me away.

      Clarification, were you asking: "Are you such a boss M.C. and drop such good rhymes that it's *stupid"?

      Then, yes, I'm really really really stupid.

      @Macha said in Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff:

      Handed the accommodation letter from my doctor to my boss today, about a work from home accommodation. (The company has work from home employees, so this is completely feasible and doable). She tells me she will talk it over with her co-CEO and they will decide if I can be an 'exception', since they like the 'local area people' to come into the office. -- uh, I don't think she knows that isn't how it works.

      I also didn't get the job I interviewed on Friday, so I'm stuck waiting to explain that they don't get a choice on medical accommodation if they have the ability.

      I hate jobs that do that shit.

      My old job (job-from-hell) has like, 3 layers of forms you have to fill out (it's like: get doctor's note, then get form you fill out and your doctor fills out, then get ANOTHER form that has to be filled out by the doctor with an attached NEW note....) and even then after that they go 'Okay this will go into review with HR' .......and you never hear back.

      @mietze

      Would a shepherd's pie-type dish that uses lentils work? I can try to dig up my recipe for it. When I was eating vegetarian, it became a go-to (it can be made vegan) because it was honestly super tasty. The lentils aren't like, doctored-to-be-replacements. They are still def. lentils, but it's that warm filling tons of veggies and potatoes that is shepherd's pie (.......now I want shepherd's pie).
