RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Good news and good news!
Last night I did some rough math and have about $100 of wiggle room during the move itself. Between the cost of the truck, the stuff I need (for the cat, the snacks/drinks I'm buying ahead of time to limit food stops, etc.), gas, the one motel night... I over-estimate costs, so hopefully it'll be more. But right now? $100. That's a buffer. That's still enough to get groceries. And I get paid the following week. And my first month's rent is low, due to the move-in deal.
So it's not bad, but it's def. in the range of 'hopefully I have no emergencies' and 'thank god someone got me a AAA membership'
But!
I was changing my address on my secured credit card and found out they upped my credit line! Now I tend to treat this thing as a 'forget it exists.' The line has been low because shite credit and all and during this whole 'moving' deal it's been needing to use it for things like doctor visits and meds (which I have a lot of and are expensive) and I've been unable to pay off the full amount each month. So in the back of my head it was 'last desperate resort so long as it's a cheap emergency'But! Now I've got a bit more available there. Still not a lot (because secured credit), but more. I'm gonna use some to get a haircut this weekend. I count that as important because my hair contributes to my headaches/migraines, which is sort of an important thing to consider when driving 8-10 hours a day.

RE: The Apology Thread
This one isn't sarcastic:
I want to apologize for the times my social anxiety has snapped before I've managed to notice. When I notice, I get up and walk away. Sometimes it occurs too quick and hard for me to realize before I've opened my (proverbial) mouth and put my foot in it.
I do try to come back and talk it out once I can breath again, but it can be difficult depending on the particular personality clash. So for those who have gotten hit by the sudden panic button, I am sorry. The meds and therapy have helped immensely and the early warning system is greatly improved nowadays. I've seen improvement and I hope you have, too, but for those blindsided in the past, I do apologize.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
Hey guys, why not take the 1e vs 2e discussion to a new thread rather than clutter the ad?
Thanks.

RE: RL things I love
Interview scheduled on Tuesday (a week after I sent my resume in).
Fingers crossed! Pay scale is better than what I'm making now. If benefits are better (which wouldn't be hard at all), I'll ditch my current gig in a heartbeat.
Reviews of the company on Glassdoor seem to be... well, about similar to what I'm dealing with now / in line with the industry overall. So for me, it's a: 'don't look at it long-term, but as a stepping stone to at least improve your current situation.'

@Bad-at-Lurking said in Coming Summer 2019:
Yeah, you know it's a concept that works for you when you've already come up with three or four broad character concepts and the game doesn't even have a public wiki/address yet.
Um, not that I'm confessing to nerding out to that degree, mind you.
Seriously, I'm thrilled to see things like this. I've wanted to do an SG game for years, so when Paradox proposed the concept I was totally on board.
I'm really really happy other people are excited. Makes the work we're putting in worth it.

RE: RL Anger
I'm one of those who has to wear a bra to avoid back pain. Also boob sweat. Like I can't just wear pajamas around the house. I am wearing pajamas while I work today... but also a bra. Because if I didn't, my shoulders and back would hurt way too much. Like yes, before bed, taking it off is glorious because my ribs feel better for lack of pressure... but not wearing it causes so much back pain.
So it's a trade-off.
If I had the money, I'd consider reduction surgery, for sure.
As for wearing flats, well, I had a pair and they disappeared during the move somewhere. I gotta buy new ones.
I don't own a lot of shoes. I have a pair of heels. (Had) a pair of flats. My day-to-day Vans. My sneakers. My boots. Flip flops.

I'm confused.
Is this about baking baked goods or just being baked in general?

RE: Flights 'n Tights MUX
I can't speak as to the 'versatile' part of the statement. Just that bi women are often seen as unicorns because of some of the negative perceptions around being bi in general.
If you're bi... 'you can't make up your mind'
If you're bi... 'you're just selfish'
If you're bi... 'you want to be in threesomes'
If you're bi & male... 'you're just too scared to admit you're gay'
If you're bi & female... 'you're just a straight girl who wants attention'There's been studies done. Bisexuals, even in the current enviro, are less likely to come out of the closet than those who are gay and lesbian. They also have a higher suicide rate. The LGBT community itself hasn't had the best track record about bisexuals (now, please don't think I'm saying it doesn't 'as a whole,' just that it has a bad track record; I've found groups that are awesome and groups that outright suck).

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Didn't get the job.
Felt really, really good about this one.
They wouldn't even tell me anything other than the 'We really liked you, the team thought you were great, but we're going with other applicants.' spiel.I just want to give up except for the fact that with my current job having cut my hours, I'm stressing making ends meet.
I'll bounce back, I guess. Maybe. But right now I'm just having some tea after spending half an hour crying on my kitchen floor.

RE: BSG: Unification
Two things:
-
We have had almost daily scenes lately. Both social and combat-oriented. The game is hoppin', folks. We've been trying to juggle times for both EST and PST schedules, at that. There's no real 'need' for any roles, either, so please feel free to play whatever suits your fancy! The roster has 19 chars on it right now, many of which have never been played: super easy to jump right in.
-
Faraday has added this absolutely amazing scene code. Well, she's enhanced it. This shit generates a log that posts to the wiki for you. I tried it out for the first time today and it's just amazing. While you're in the 'scene' (http://mush.aresmush.com:8081/help/scenes/index) you just set the parameters (scene/title, /summary, /type) and once the scene is over... wiki/log scene# and boom, it posts, complete with the wiki icons and everyone already tagged. No other effort required.
I may love @faraday a little for this. Okay, not even a little. I've got massive girlcrush going on.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Phone interview today for a position at a small company (a startup, but a really healthy one). It's a rather unique kind of role. As in the phone call ended with him saying he needs to decide how he wants to approach the next stage, but will get in touch once he does (meaning he's interested, yay!).
If I get this, it'd actually use my writing skills. And pay well.
I'm too scared to get my hopes up so someone else do it for me.

RE: Alternative Formats to MU
If you want Discord-style 'chat' for your roleplay, why not just go and start roleplaying there? I mean, people have been roleplaying in places like that for a while now.
Single-sentences, rapid-fire RP. 'Mary giggles.' 'Bob smiles.' 'Ryan says, 'Let's go.' 'Mary says, 'Okay.' 'Bob goes over there.' 'Ryan follows.'
You too could be part of that engaging environment!
If an interface of buttons and drop-down menus is what you need for the future of your roleplay, it's out there. If you need avatars, it's out there, too. There's MMOs with roleplay servers.
I just happen to think the crux of MU*ing happens to be the actual writing aspect of it. And the more we obsess over what buttons we're clicking (or not), the further we drift away from that.
And maybe I'm alone in that thinking, which makes me kind of sad.

RE: RL Anger
I'm trying to decide which is worse:
Underwire breaking during the middle of the workday (and thus no escape for hours) or wandering around a city with your underwear showing.
One is painful, the other is painfully embarrassing (at least for an anxiety-fool like me).

RE: RL things I love
My kitten has straws as toys, to help with teething. They're good for kittens. They can bat them around and they like the feel of their teeth sinking into the plastic. Plus, straws are hella cheap.
He is also one of those cats who will 'drown' his toys in the water bowl after he's done with them.
I just came across this tableau:
This is the hardest I've laughed in a long time.
