RE: Map Making Skills
Long years ago I went down the rabbit hole of learning how to make maps, from scratch using the Saderan tutorial from the Cartographer's Guild forum.
was as far as I got after hours of tweaking and fiddling and fussing around.
It can be obsessive work. But the Saderan tutorial is a lot of fun. It's on this page (along with a ton of others).
If anyone is interested I actually tracked each stage up to the above.

I can completely understand that. Imposter syndrome is rough. I still deal with it on the regular. So does my team's database admin. So does my boss, who is the CIO. Regularly. I know this cos we talk about it. Part of me suspects it has something to do with being women in tech for so long, but idk.
All that aside, lady, I would send my kid to you. You have a huge heart. That is (to me at least) the most important thing. I have mad respect for all the teachers around here, y'all give me hope. You got this.

If you haven't reached out to your school's IT dept for help you might try it. They may fix it, or send it to you in a diff format. OTOH, depending on the school, it may actually be MORE frustrating than just Dealing With It until you're through it. I had to work with the IT of a university at one point because one of my voc counselors was having problems exactly like you are describing with one of the modules. It was a headache and I wouldn't recommend it if you didn't already know computers, but it might be worth a shot.
Either way, thank you for even pursuing being a teacher. I feel like that is good for you and good for the kids that will have you to be fierce for them.
They're redoing the module and I'm preeeeeetty sure this is why.
Unfortunately it's not being released until late October. So I'll probably work on other modules and kick at this one now and then. I'm just actually really interested in the contents of this one and nearing the end of what I can do on my own while I wait for a school to get back to me about my in-classroom observation time.
Also thank you. I'm pretty terrified about actually doing it to be honest. I keep finding applications for what I study at my current job (I mean I'm writing training documentation after all) and in staffing which is kind of fun. But. Actually teaching kids someday already has the imposter syndrome meter turned to yikes.

@Auspice Try a different browser.
Already did.
And incognito. It's definitely that particular module.
happens at home and on my work PC. I've been trying to complete it for three days.

I've been working through teaching certification (yes, I am mad, why do you ask?) and it has been taking me days to finish this one section because the unit just will not load properly. I'll get through a few parts of it and then reach a page that just will. not. load.
It's getting really frustrating.

RE: Do you care about other people's music?
@Darren said in Do you care about other people's music?:
Sometimes I'll open an ambient techno Shoutcast stream while I am coding but other than that, I mainly listen to music from my massive MP3 library. I never really saw the point to any of the commercial streaming services. Why suffer through ads (or pay again) to listen to music that I already paid for?
In my case, an MP3 collection I'd curated over years was on a harddrive that died.
So I'll gladly pay for Spotify at this point.

@Sunny Venting is what this is here for. Sometimes just getting it out helps.

Just finished Tiamat's Wrath in The Expanse series. Now I need to listen to something else while at work. I'm open to suggestions if there's anything out there that's Expanse-like.

RE: Games? Do they exist? Where?
@Wizz said in Games? Do they exist? Where?:
Purple prosing the hell out of in-character letters has always been some of the most fun/amusing writing of all time for me tho, especially for characters who don't actually speak that way and are often involved in Dubious Affairs.
That's different, though. I'll write IC messages in my character's 'voice.' But for poses that are meant for the player to read? plz do not.

Repeat after me: purple prose is bad.
An irresistible urge to engage in the contumacious denial of the brevity so highly esteemed in these literary latter days and to revel in sesquipedalian verbiage akin to what a perspicacious member of the literati might find while perusing catalogues of authors past frequently engenders a sense of frustration and, dare I say, ire in the modern reader.
