Lifehacks
NO I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR CLICKBAITY TITLE.
Ahem. So, I was mulling this over today and it's sort of a spin-off of the ADHD thread.
When you have ADD/ADHD (and OCD), doing things in a timely fashion is hard. You may engage in a task that should take just five minutes, feel like it took five minutes, but look at the clock and find that 25 minutes have passed. This happens to me frequently, especially in the mornings. (And before anyone asks: I don't touch my computer before work, so it's not online distractions.)
I'm sure others are in a similar boat, so what I want to know is: what have you found that helps? Maybe sharing our tips (aka lifehacks -- lol -- will help).
That above is my first one: I stopped spending time on the computer before work. I used to do it too much. Then it was 'only if I have a few minutes before I need to leave.' No. Nope. Those 3 minutes turn into 10 and suddenly I'm late. (Or not so suddenly as the case may be.)
Other things I've taken to doing:
- Showering before bed
- Getting into a habit of hanging my keys next to the door
- Keeping my shoes in one. goddamn. location
I'm trying (and failing) to make lunches the night before, but I'm just not there yet.
The big thing I began doing is every Sunday, I make sure I have 7 (5 workdays + 2 for added options) outfits prepared for the week. Then, my dithering over 'what to wear' is cut down day-to-day. If, on a workday, I find myself torn over which one to pick... I have Alexa do it for me ("Alexa, pick a number between..."). Sometimes I do stick with her pick because I was truly indecisive. Other times as she's saying the result, I realize which one I actually wanted all along.
This one is big for me because even with this, it can still take me 20 minutes to get dressed (literally just putting clothes on, putting my hair in a ponytail or brushing it, and putting on jewelry) and I have no idea why. I can't tell you where all that time goes. But I know it'd be worse without the small things I am doing.
So what helps you?

I'm addicted to oyster sauce. It is mana from the heavens. Any sauce I make lately, bbq, rubs, anything has this mixed in. Don't tell my kids they'd freak out probably.
I ran out recently because any time I make ramen I just dump sriracha and oyster sauce in that bitch.

OneNote is Microsoft's best product.
It's glorious for an obsessive organizer like me.

@Auspice My company has that.
If I were an employee and not a contractor, I'd have it. But alas.
(That also means I don't get the 30% discount in the store boooooo) -

Oh, sorry, I got something wrong.
It's not an "ice bucket challenge" while driving to raise bottled water for homeless people.
It's an "Ice Bucket Challenge" AAAAAAND a water balloon fight.
I was expecting the water balloon fight more than the ice bucket tbh.
But yes, companies that have special 'PTO' for volunteer work? That's how it should be done.

Cup o' KaleTHERE YA GO.
Companies are sort of terrible, in general, at 'what's gonna be fun for our employees and show awareness?!'
Company I used to work for tried to get people to go, on their day off, to pick up trash in a park. That was their big team building / bonding thing that month. They went the opposite direction of your company.
it's like........ why not allow them an hour off during the workday to go? Or make it a family picnic also? C'moooon.

RE: Sunny?
She posted on Arx about a week and a half ago that she's currently without internet and still dealing with her health issues such that she'd be absent for a while longer. (She'd been gone from Arx similarly throughout July as she'd been absent from MSB.)
Got it!
Thanks for the update. I'm glad she's all right (insomuch as one can be with health problems and no internet).

Sunny?
Sunny hasn't posted in over a month and that's pretty abnormal for her (she's one of the prolific posters around here!).
She may have just chosen to take a break and not posted, but I'm still mildly concerned considering the health issues she'd discussed in the past.
Has anyone heard from her? @Sunny, are you lurking?

@Auspice I'm sorry your taste buds don't work right. It's okay. We all have to be wrong about something, and you can be wrong about the best pizza.
You mean chicken, mushrooms, and onions in an alfredo base?
Because I love that pizza. -
RE: Preferences
@Selira said in Preferences:
@Arkandel Pineapple, ham or Canadian bacon, real (streaky) belly bacon, onions on a garlicky crust with a drizzle of barbecue sauce and a marinara base.
With little to no cheese because I'm not here for hardened cow juice.

You are all wrong.
Pineapple on pizza is where it's at. Especially with BBQ sauce. Fite me.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Ghost You know, I'd be cool with two of these. Colossus' skin and Magik's sword? OK, make her a sister of the two and she inherited the sword from Magik.
Hell, I'd also take 3:
Daughter of Colossus and Shadowcat, inherited auntie Magik's blade. But the last two (force field & telepathy) bring it into the realm of 'how many people are gonna scramble to play her on comic games just to have that power set'

StargateMUSH
The year is 2019, life has been carrying on as much as everyone knows. Elections have been won, economies have grown and fallen. The government has conducted quiet experiments through the decades that have seen successes and have seen failures. One of these failures was conducted in 1994 when an object of unknown material called a Stargate was activated successfully and a team was sent through. After three days, no contact was received and the Stargate was unable to be reactivated. A quiet memorial was held and the project was mothballed.
Twenty years later, new information has been uncovered and the project was restarted at the urging of elements within the Government. The initial attempt to establish a connection was successful and a team was sent through once again: a gateway to the universe has been opened and Earth is stepping through.
StargateMUSH is a ‘Year One’ game where characters have been recently recruited to a secret government project. Set in the universe of the movie and television shows, the game will include elements from these sources but by no means will follow their events. Will you be an Air Force Officer leading a team, a Marine Expeditionary Soldier, a civilian scientist, or a diplomat specializing in first contact? There is a universe out there to discover full of potential and danger for humanity.

I have found that drinking pickle juice helps when I'm depleted and having a lot of calf cramps. It doesn't happen too often these days. And I really think it's gross except during that time, in which case I crave it like whoa and I can chug it like lemonade. However, there ARE potassium supplements!
Cravings are so weird like that.
I go through cycles of absolutely craving peanut butter. I think it's a low-iron thing since I haven't been able to afford meat in a while (and I do eat iron-rich veggies, but... gotta balance how I eat 'em since iron + thyroid med = possible conflict). I'll have evenings where I just snack on a few spoonfuls of it.
