@auspice And there goes $45.00...
I haven't decided where to back at.
I really really want the hardcopy, but having just bought a car, I'm not sure I can budget it.

It's finally here.
I know a fair number of us have been waiting for this one. I'm shocked it's out before the end of the year, to be honest!

OHH! DOUBLE POST.
Are you all aware of Temptalia? They have a MASSIVE dupes database, so if you get color-matched to something at Sephora but want to try a foundation brand they don't carry (like ColourPop), I'd suggest starting there. Their dupes database has also helped me out massively in finding cheaper versions of things from other brands, or cruelty-free alternatives, which I've largely switched to except for my impossible-to-match MAC concealer.
I am aware! But it's why I need to get matched (not having a car has made it impossible to get up there :D) so I can confirm which one I am (I haven't been matched in years and esp. not since Fenty came out) so I can start hunting.

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Uncensored, $24-ish
The red that literally anyone and everyone can wear. There's been studies!
I really need to go into Sephora and get color matched for Fenty foundation. It's cheaper than the UD foundation, which is so far the only other brand that has the right shade for me (being pale, but with a bit of olive undertones makes it so hard for me to find the right fit and I think Fenty will help...).
@betternow said in The Makeup Thread:
That looks not too dissimilar from Snow White up there, but is def. not cheap.
Snow White can be had as an add-on for Amazon Prime users for around $4.
I'm poor!
So I do love the NYX Eros & Snow White lipsticks (they are two of those reds that are oft recommended over the common MACs as being affordable, generally universally flattering, etc.):
I wore Eros yesterday and tried that trick of patting a bit of powder over it that I've seen suggested. It dulled the color a bit... but it worked?!?!
It does dry your lips, so if you need moist lips all day (like if you spend your whole day chatting, etc etc) I do not recommend it, but I didn't have any color transfer to my water bottle and I had color on my lips the whole day.
So. uh. this is a trick I will def. be using going forward. fo sho.
I've shared this song before, but I feel the need to share it again.

Good luck!
Also, good job for doing it now and not on the third.
I usually do things well in advance. I'm that person who has a spreadsheet for vacations and is (mostly) packed a week in advance.
So in prep for 4th of July (the first I'll get to actually attend festivities for in a handful of years), I'm looking for this picnic blanket I have. It's one of those handy ones that folds up all neat and snaps together.
I have looked in every box, bin, etc...... except one that is buried awkwardly behind others.
So I'm assuming that's where it is seeing as how I haven't found it yet.
Ugh.

I find their matte lipstick way, way too drying. But I also already have dry skin, sooooo....
I can see that. I have combination skin and there are times where my lips go through cycles of being dry af (right now I'm in one). For me, personally, the 'crayon' type lipsticks actually have the perfect amount of moisturizing factor + color
@kanye-qwest said in The Makeup Thread:
@auspice buh, I had no idea.
I rarely wear actual lipstick - it just doesn't last, and if I'm going to wear something that doesn't last, I wear gloss so I can reapply it without looking. But that's neat.
Yeah, it kind of blew my mind when I learned. It was a 'no wai' moment where I ran to my makeup bag and grabbed the tubes to pop off their bottoms and stare at the resulting little cups of color.
I don't wear it often either. I've come to really appreciate ColourPop's staying powah. It's matte and it STAYS (plus it's inexpensive).
So something I learned as an adult that I never knew in my younger days is the colored section at the bottom of lipstick tubes that looks like it's just there to show you what color it is?
Actually pops off and has lipstick in it
It's meant as a tester. So, y'know, people aren't supposed to go around opening the actual tubes of lipstick to try the things.

@auspice It wasn't just the genre. Season 1 had some funk/soul too. It was more how the music was just so infused in the episode. It was like another character on the show and not just background.
This season it seems like there is just a lot more of it and it's so watered down compared to the effect it had last time.
I can agree with that. Totally.
The scene direction was weaker, too. The writing was incredible. It was great in season 1, but it got stronger. The music and scene direction got weaker tho.
@wildbaboons said in Good TV:
@auspice I'm 2/3 of the way through and so far agree that it's at least on par with the first season of Jessica Jones. My only complaints are that some of the symbolism is groan worthy in your face (looking at you crown painting shots) and the music isn't near as effective as the 1st season.
From what I have seen currently it is the only Marvel show that has had the second season be better than the first.
I totally agree on the music front.
The first season focused on hip hop, which is Luke's genre of choice and it is what he grooves to. That's why it fit so well.
This season chose the music of Harlem and of Jamaica. I understand why. We got jazz. We got R&B. We got the traditional and modern music of the island. Hell, we even got some southern blues (fitting for Mariah since it's what her family came up from). But because it's not Luke's music, the cadence was off.
In the later episodes as we got back to hip hop (oh, 7th Chamber, when you came in....), everything clicked.
Season 2 of Luke Cage might be the best Netflix Marvel season yet.

It's a bad move. A lot of people in Austin -do not want- the team to move here. The ones who do, well. It's the rich white folks.
I'd like soccer in Austin, but not at the expense of other shit and with all the frustration. I just enjoy soccer.
