My migraine medication -- sumatriptan injection -- is great. When I give myself a shot, most of the time it starts working within a couple minutes.

What's not so great? The autoinjector it comes in does not trigger a lot of time time. My insurance only allows me to get 12 shots per month. I usually got through 3 - 4 autoinjectors to get one that works.

      God dammit.

      That's some kinda bullshit.
They should let you exchange those. 😐

It's that thread and I think it's something to do with the formatting of the post Tinuviel put up from their bboard.

I'm trying to find a way to go in and grab the post and fix it.

It's definitely that post. If anyone can hit flag on http://musoapbox.net/post/142297 somehow, please do so and I'll pull the post that way. Or if @Tinuviel can edit his own post. Something in the formatting on it is affecting pages (it happens in the post history on his own profile, too).

      B-b-bbbut @Auspice ! You made his boner sad. 😞 😞 😞

That's practically a war crime, you heinous bitch!

I was actually going to ask him if he kept coming back because he was a masochist and I was helping him get off. 😕

But really, he deserved it. I told this guy twice -- twice! -- I was just trolling him and he kept cycling through the 'you're just a hateful person!' 'you're just playing the victim!' 'you're just projecting!' playbook.

and then when I went 'I can't take it anymore, it's hypocritE with an E! I know dictionaries are heavy, snowflake,' (continuing on the 'you assumed my gender,' theme,) 'but there's this thing called Google where you can look up words.'

he switched to 'typical, going after grammar when you have nothing else.'

But he blocked me before I could explain I was going after his inability to spell and grammar would be going after his poor use of sentence structure and punctuation. 😞

@auspice The "m'lady" was what really did it for me.

      A++. Would shop again.

Welp, after a really poorly thought-out reply (He said I'm a disgusting horrible person and I bring a bad name to the trans community - aka 'either you're trans and a bad person or you're just ugly' in an attempt to win via insanely sexist insult).

      I win by default. 😄

Trolling a sexist on Twitter. They rarely realize that I'm not going to just run off in tears just because they said 'You're just playing victim!' or 'You're just full of hate!'

And despite telling him twice -- twice! -- I'm just trolling him...

... having him continue to try to argue with me.

Buddy, I'm bored and you're an easy target. A cliche one, following the 'neckbeard gamer on the internet' rulebook, but an easy target all the same.

He gave up after I replied to his 'you assumed my gender, hypocrit'* with 'I'm sorry, miss, you're right. That's my fault for being familiar with Adam as a masculine name, but we can continue with your preferred gender, m'lady.'

      *His misspelling, not mine.

Hasn't been done in a while, but we used to do rhyming gifs/images in relation to the name of the person being looked for to keep the thread 'bumped' until the person was located.

or until LONG AFTER the person has been found, in the case of one thread.

True. Usually it stops once the person is found! Usually.

@mr-johnson said in A New Star Wars game? (Legends of The Old Republic (Name pending)):

All I hear when I see this is "more code MORE CODE MOAR COOOOOOOOOODE" and it scares me.

Oh, I'm not exactly thinking don't do this right now! and maybe not even for this game.

But as an idea for games down the road. WoD, even. It's always the biggest issue for newcomers to a game/system: it's hard to learn.

But if you could design a system (even via wiki like @BobGoblin said) where they could pick through branching options (do you want to be this or this? Would you rather be more inclined to this or that? etc) to build their character... Give standard backgrounds, personalities, etc. to choose from....

and out comes a character sheet. Yes, you might have a number of fairly "standard" builds, but it'd be meant for entry-level characters and since it's just the very starting character, they'd obviously become more customized over time and how many of us who Staff in WoD see cookie-cutter copies of certain builds in spheres anyway because certain people build things the same way?

(I may be in this mindset because last month I spent 3 weeks building an Interactive Fiction game so I was building branched dialogue/game options.)

A suggestion I'd have is something like what Sera demonstrated but include areas where it could be 'this or this' options for players along with a brief description of what each does. There's so many ins and outs of Saga Edition that narrowing the 'common' choices for players while still providing choices might be a great move.

You know, this could actually be a stellar way to do CG.

      Provide two options:
the 'crunch' method for people who know Saga and the CYOA method where people pick via branching options like that. Build the character as they go through guided questions.

It'd allow them to build the character they want without having to worry over all the fiddly bits.

@bored said in A New Star Wars game? (Legends of The Old Republic (Name pending)):

And yeah, definitely agree. Railroading on that grand scale is perfectly OK if it's telegraphed.

If you call the event 'The Fall of Malachor V' or 'The Crusaders Last Stand' people are going to know what they're signing up for.

The key thing, of course, is to give people other ways to matter. They can't save the Neo-Crusader movement, they can't win. But they might, for instance, save a single ship that goes on to form a camp-colony which becomes a center for future recruitment and continuity of the Mandalorian culture.

If anything, their adaptability is one of the coolest things about the Mandalorians in the EU. Once you get past the Boba Fett speshul factor of omg we r best bounty hunter, it's a pretty fascinating invented culture, what with its nomadic, species-agnostic, and yet somehow ageless nature.

      Exactly this.
People can handle big vast things happening way over there that are predetermined so long as the stuff happening here and now isn't.

"So we know the outcome of this war, but you all get to decide what the outcome of this battle is and it will inform the game moving forward."

I bet you'd get a lot of people signing right the hell up for that.

@seraphim73 said in A New Star Wars game? (Legends of The Old Republic (Name pending)):

@mr-johnson I think that it's totally fair to have a scene with a predetermined ending, so long as a) all of the players know it going into the scene, and b) there are lots and lots of things that provide lots of things to react to (plus time and space to react) and preferrably things to do during the scene.

So if they're at Malachor V, then they could totally be in a fight out at the edge of the system, fighting Mandalorians and kicking butt... they just can't impact the big event that will impact them all at the end of their own boarding action/starfighter combat. Lots for people to do, and they still get to show their characters' reactions to Malachor V "on-screen."

I think it's eminently doable, but I also completely understand where you're coming from.

It's also doable to have X number of smaller battles that players can affect the outcomes of, just not the outcome of the big battle.

Do you get the upper hand over there? Do you get the supplies? Do you overpower the base? etc.

The players could have the small victories that can inform how the next stage moves forward for their world, even if the greater mechanisms behind the scenes are moving differently.

    • RE: Game Restarts

I think it would depend on how it's being worked into the plot/theme.

Is it part of the storyline/setting? Like is it 'baked in' for it to happen? Are we talking time-travel shenanigans?

Or are we talking a simple 'okay guys, we're going to move everything five years into the future on the same timeline'?

Or are we talking 'okay, we're taking all of our characters and doing a wholly new, completely different storyline'?

The methodology used completely changes depending on what's being done, I think. It also changes as to whether this is something intentional from the game's start or something being done, say, a few years along to breathe new life into a dying game.
