I'm the opposite. I started reading Ninth House, while also reading a bit of the Expanse, and I ended up dropping Ninth House for the time being. Not that it was bad, it's just that I got totally engrossed with the Expanse. I'm almost done with the series, tho, so I'll soon be returning to Ninth House.

I'm only on book 2 of Expanse and I feel like I need to just sit down and devote a few hours to it vs my fits and bursts of bus reading.

For what it's worth if your not familiar with They Might Be Giants work in children's genres, they perform the Meeska Moosa variant at the opening of the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as well as the ending song Hot Dog. They also are in Coraline with the other father song. They still do their own music as well and are touring in 2020.

But their greatest work is still what they did for Animaniacs.

As @Derp mentioned, they push those characters a lot for the preschool-age crowd. There are multiple TV shows, TV movies, toys, music -- oh dear lord the Christmas music; I'm going on ten years now of listening to Goofy singing White Christmas every year... trust me, Mickey and the Gang are alive and well I am surprised they haven't tried a full theatrical release though.

I'll be honest... I think this would be a terrible idea. Partly because what I'm envisioning is just pure horror. I hate every depiction of Mickey and Co in a more 3D/CGI style. They're just... meant for the hand drawn art style gdi.

I think one of the few cases in recent years where a company truly made strides as opposed to 'just slap a rainbow on it and make us some $$$' was Target. Because they took a holistic approach to inclusivity. You can find cards at a Target specifically for gay or lesbian relationships, not just 'eh, put some neutral cards out; those will work' type stuff. They acknowledged 'A wife may want a card for her wife' or 'People may want to wish both grooms congratulations' and saw it through.

I think, for a lot of people, that's the sort of thing they want to see. Sure, it's fun to have rainbow mouse ears if you go to Disney, but if that's all they have to offer, it sort of stings too to know that it wasn't worth the effort of putting any more thought into it than 'rainbow stuff = $$$'

Someone suggested Jurassic Park and y'know what? I've never read the novel, so let's go for it!

If you don't have a copy, don't wanna go through the library, or don't wanna spend money, I found a PDF. It's search-able or I can dig it up for you if you're too lazy to type a few words into Google.

We'll make it a goal to finish it by January 31st. Discussion of the book below.

The KitchenAid is for all my gluten-free baking needs. I am totally jazzed about it. Also the color is so pretty; retro minty green.

I have a KitchenAid that is blue but I have seen that mint green one and envy.

I love all of it.

The headline, alone, is hilarious, but as you read it just becomes more and more ridiculous.

I remember reading Six of Crows and quite enjoying it up until the point I realized that the author set it up to make sure that literally every single one of the main characters got paired up and it started feeling really really weird.

It is a Young Adult novel and that sort of thing is generally required. I didn't mind: at least she avoided the all-too-common love triangle.

I got this book at her book signing stop here in Austin because, hey, I love her other stuff (I want a Grishaverse MU so bad). It's her foray into adult fiction and oh man. I love it. I love it so much.

I wasn't sure what to expect because the blurb I initially read seemed sort of meh to me and I wanna fire whoever wrote it (since it's usually marketing people that do that!).

It is an amazing book for the 'low magic' urban fantasy genre. I've been swapping between it and the second Expanse novel and I've all but forgotten about the Expanse book for the moment. Ninth House is just so good and it draws you in more and more and I think it'd be an amazing setting for a MU.

It also has a TV show in the works (on Amazon Prime). The deal was cut before the book was even released and I imagine it'd hit in the same way Magicians does.

Anyway. If you like Bardugo and/or low magic urban fantasy mystery, def. give it a read.

Unfortunately, I think he gets enough people who say those sorts of things in a serious/derogatory way that I can see how he might take it negatively. I thought it was meant as a jab/attack first, myself. Text does make it difficult!

I also get mocked, a lot, by all members of my family for not toeing the Conservative line. (Esp. by my sister who, if you read her Twitter, is p left-wing so I dunno if she does it in front of / in view of our parents to get 'points' or if her Twitter is a false front.)
