@Ghost Years ago I got to sit and talk with David Weber (author of the Honorverse novels) at length about writing. What it is to be an author. His experiences. etc.

He told me how he was once approached to write a series of books about Leia. And initially he was thrilled: he was being asked to write in the Star Wars universe!!!

but then he found out that- oh. Authors within SW were very very very very closely controlled by Lucasfilm. If he'd agreed, he'd have been given a very specific formula, every plot point, etc. It'd basically be ghostwriting in a sense. Other people would decide everything that happened and he'd just connect the dots.

So none of the books written pre-Disney are truly the author's own creation. They're just putting someone else's story (Lucafilm) into their own words.

This is, as @Wizz mentioned, already an issue on comic games. Between someone being the absolute best and winning the day in a single pose....and people never losing or even getting hurt....

Those things are pretty much required in a SW game. You lose sometimes. You get hurt (and lose hands!) sometimes.

These games draw people who have that need to always win and I fear it'd be worse if a 'sheet' was just a few barebones concepts. It opens the door to everyone being the best in the universe.

You'd have players who would play realistically at first....but in the face of those who are all powerful and impossible to defeat, they'd 'power up' to be on a level. On a comic game where FCs are practically gods already this is more manageable (and full traits systems do put in some limitations), but on a SW game where the uberpowerful should be rare? Ehhh.

I get the want to make full use of the web portal. As someone who uses it extensively and encourages others to do so I absolutely do but. I think it'd hurt story and rp in the long run to have no stats or dice.

Hasn't that been the issue? Star Wars fans convinced they can do better and thus the movies are terrible in comparison to whatever they cooked up themselves?

I've never had any desire or need to go back and finish it. I don't care how it ends. It passed time I'd have otherwise been unsuccessfully trying to sleep and that is the only good thing I can say about Solo.

This is about the only project where it works. Knitting it alongside a solid allows me to use larger needles and fewer stitches. It also gives it structure to behave.

I make these scarves every so often because they're easy (size 10 needles, 15 stitches) and fun. It also works out to be a decently warm (without being TOO warm) scarf.
