If you can hear your neighbors giving each other Christmas presents (sex), their music is probably not working to drown it out.

Sometimes I wonder if I should be leaving notes in their mailbox about it, but it just feels like it would only accomplish at inducing embarassment in one or both parties.

You should be happy for them!

      @Bad-at-Lurking said in Model Policies?:

@Auspice That's probably a better policy, all the way around!

It's a policy I like because it lets people feel more free to both read and post logs. That way no one's left going 'ehhhhh can I post this? is it too gory/racy/etc.?' and no one's left stumbling across a section in a log that is not OK to be reading at work (or school or a friend's house or whatever).

Plus, I found players start to have fun with their tags. 😄

Also, I would suggest (and this is more for you than players) a policy that outlines that Staff are on the game to have fun also. Can include mentions that if a Staffer is on their PC, to not bother them with game stuff. That if Staff isn't having fun, they may take breaks. etc.

@Admiral Why the fuck can't your parents tell her to like it or leave it? That's some emotional manipulation bullshit.

      Because sometimes parents are bullshit.

Part of why I don't see mine except rarely is that my brother (who is 29) lives at home, but has given me death threats, called to torment me, etc.... and their response to it is 'you're the older sibling, so you should just forgive him and move on.'

The older generation + conflict avoidance = bullshit situations.

but no sexual situations or violence beyond an R-rating should be posted to the website.

One thing I asked on SGM was that anything above a PG-13 rating be tagged (Ares makes this easy with the content tags) for those who read logs at work. Basically: yes we're an R-rated game, but we also know a lot of people like to browse, hang out, and read logs at work, so be mindful of them and just tag it.

Someday I'll play D&D again. I didn't for years and years because I was so burned out on it, but I think I'm ready to get back in the saddle.

94 decks of cards in this photo.
2 are not shown (one is a jumbo deck that was already packed, the other is the deck in my backpack).

I am FAIRLY CERTAIN this is all of them. But considering I found 17 just packing things around my apartment, I may very well come across more.

I need to figure out the best way to display them after I move. Keeping them in a box makes me sad.

^ Me but with Tarot cards.

I only have about 8? decks of those.

@Aria come help me pack my kitchen? It's the overwhelming thing rn.

...I actually did once fly to South Carolina to help said aforementioned single and homeless friend move once he found a place. I scrounged a buncha pennies on my plane ticket and used it to take him thrift store shopping for things for his kitchen.

But I sadly need, like, more than a few days' notice. You want me to see if there's some dumb college kids on Craiglist that'll lift heavy things for money for you?

I've got 2 people who are 'maybes' on helping on Saturday. Honestly, I THINK I can manage everything except my dresser, bed, and desk. and I might even be able to manage the desk.

If I was moving into a 1st floor place it'd be just the bed, but I opted for a 2nd floor because a) they're totally screened in so I could sit on the balcony and let my kitty hang out with me, and b) people are always throwing trash into my patio at my current place (seriously who the fuck does that) and I don't want that anymore.

ADHD sucks. I'm on meds and they help me with getting out of bed/literally being so fatigued I can't keep my eyes still on something without falling asleep, but they do nothing else. My executive is still 100% dysfunction. Fuck you, brain.

Honestly, at this point in my life, I can't even imagine what meds would be like. I'm hoping post-move I can save up enough money to find out, but

I know working anti-depressants were like a breath of fresh air. Like being able to think and feel clearly.
I know anxiety meds were like having this sudden sense of confidence and stability.

But ADHD meds ??? my whole life is this framework designed to keep me from failing to be a person so much that I dunno what it'd be like to not need the tricks and steps and notes and lists and reminders and routines and

I had a couple weeks of feeling more productive and capable at work.
      This week I have not.

I'm sure it can be attributed to moving this coming weekend, but ugh. I HAVE DEADLINES.

    • RE: The Work Thread

@Darren said in The Work Thread:

I'm the only single employee with no kids at my facility so I am usually the one who gets stuck working on holidays. This year they did something different, they asked for a volunteer to work on Christmas Eve. When I didn't immediately volunteer, everyone else in the room turned and looked at me expectantly. Now, I had already resigned myself to working on that day but I was still annoyed. I felt like the poor guy in the cartoon where the commander asks for a volunteer and everyone else takes a step back >.<

On the bright side, it's an easy quiet day at work and I am getting holiday pay for a full day, even though I'll only be working for 6 hours.

I've been there at jobs before. 'Oh you don't have any family so you can work every holiday, work all overtime, wo-'

It's always a shitty gesture, IMO. Yes, I get people wanna be with their family, but assuming the person without has nothing better to do is BS.

@TNP said in Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.:

@Auspice The solstice has passed. The days are growing longer. Rejoice, spring is coming. (Sure, we're still going to have some heavy snowstorms and frigid days but go with it.)

Sadly, January is the worst in TX (it was in SC, too) so I know it's only downhill from here.

The problem is my fibro. RN in the mornings it's around 30F, but by the time I leave work it's up to 70F. I can't 'adapt' because the temperature isn't staying low enough. Instead my body is being thrown back and forth and it's leading to the deep, un-ending chill and a lot of pain.

I just need March. March is when it starts improving for me.

Back before Disney bought Lucasfilm and began their plans to make All SW All the Time, I embarked on a journey to read/watch/play Star Wars in chronological order.

...............I didn't get all that far because it was such a trial. I refuse to believe anyone has gone through everything.

@Ghost Well, he's also not Lucasfilm, solely. It's quite likely that it was handed off to another team that controlled it all. Sure, his company, but someone else's circus.
