That is a very strange to have only IPv6 setup.
When they got the internet installed, the installer must not have configured the v4 also. 😕

They could prob call the ISP and see if it can be enabled (some ISPs can remotely pop into the router and adjust things for you if it's a router provided by them!).

Solo Thanksgiving means all the cider and pumpkin pie to myself.

Watching my cat check out whipped cream (put a little bit in a bowl for her) for the first time was a treat. She sniffed at it and then got VERY excited.

Silverstein was never a part of my childhood really. My parents never introduced it to us. School didn't. And when I did finally come across them... I was either too old or it just didn't fit I guess.

Of Dahl however, oddly it's his autobiography that always stuck with me the most. I was probably eleven or twelve when I read it.

Ender's Game is high up there. Never really got into the rest of the series, but loved the first.

Also, I have been trying to remember The Blue Sword for years. XD Thank you guys!

Another that really stuck with me when I was young: Island of the Blue Dolphins.

(Tobias was always my favorite; never quite forgave Ax for getting half his books. Looking back, I'm kinda surprised it wasn't Marco, but nope: sadboy hawk was My Guy.)

Tobias was my first fictional crush.
Didn't matter he was a hawk.

    • RE: The Work Thread

So it's been 3 weeks since I got the verbal job offer.

I emailed 1-2 times a week to do a light check-in to find out if the contract was ready yet. Nothing, nothing.

Last Thursday, the recruiter said 'I'll have more info for you this week. Failing that, more before Thanksgiving.'

It's just shy of noon the day before Thanksgiving. I haven't heard anything yet. Now, there's nothing to say that the job offer has been withdrawn (I mean that'd be a quick phone call / email), but three weeks without any updates is a little ridiculous IMO.

Would it be wrong to reach out to the people I know at the company itself (the guy I'd be working for or his assistant) and ask if THEY know what's going on? Because I am getting really anxious.

      @silverfox

I have that same set I do believe. Mostly. One book did completely fall apart.

And I am torn re: 'proper order'. I know we grew up with Lion, Witch, Wardrobe first...but Lewis always intended Magician's Nephew first.

So while a part of me hates it so and wants my 'traditional' ordering....I also want to respect the author's wishes.

      The Hobbit

I had the Michael Hague illustrated version of The Hobbit as a kid. It was one of my prized possessions. Then my brother destroyed it and my parents thought a paperback replacement would suffice.

So add that to my list, yes.

      (It never did.)

What books have stuck with you? Which ones do you find yourself thinking of again and again?

For me, especially recently, it's The Phantom Tollbooth. Chronicles of Narnia have also always held a special place for me.

@Auspice No offense to you as someone who lives there but personally I am just about ready to give Texas back to Mexico. And to give Florida to, I dunno, Cuba? They could probably use it.

I mean half of the state would be OK with that probably.

It really sucks because Austin is pretty awesome. Our city officials have been fighting and fighting for better handling of covid. But the AG and such just shoot them down.

But yeah, they decided 'well unemployment numbers are improving so we don't need to help people anymore'

Meanwhile companies are pulling back once again because oh look things are even worse now than they were seven months ago. 😐

      oh hey
      my extended unemployment ran out
and TX has decided covid is over and people don't need assistance anymore
      ahahahaha

here's hoping this new job does start right away in January. I think I can hold off debtors and convince my apt to let me float a month.

@Macha That might be it, then. I mean, obvs, see a professional and all. But it's one of the Things with fatty liver. You can get itchiness like you're describing.

(Which sucks, but hey. Might assuage fears of it being some other big thing y'know?)

I don't know WTF is wrong with my legs. I've NEVER had dry skin issues, beyond needing some lotion now and then in the winter. Right now, my legs itch almost constantly, and I've scratched myself bloody more than once.

Different lotions, creams, moisturizers, and nothing seems to really work. I've cooled down the showers I take, use moisturizing body wash... I just.. I'm so befuddled.

This may be a totally weird one to ask, but: how's your liver?

I'm in a medical study for a medication for liver disease (and good news: my last labs came back with a marked drop in liver enzymes, so it seems I may be on the drug itself and it is working!) and one of the questions I got asked is if I get random bouts of itchiness. Apparently it can be one of the big symptoms! Not one I have (thank god), but it was something I got asked (since they can use it as one of their metrics to track if the drug is helping or not).

So if you do have liver disease, it might be the answer as to whyforitchy.

When you run a 5E game in Foundry do your players need to have two windows open? One for Foundry and another for DND Beyond? Or can it be all self contained like Roll20?

I play in a game @Jeshin runs. I don't mind having two windows open. Partially because it means I also have all my reference material right there (since all us players get access to his books on Beyond).

Technically I personally have a lot more windows open since I also stream our sessions, but just from the player perspective: that two-window thing isn't a big deal and IMO has its benefits.

And there is not enough nurses to care for all the patient's there is right now. I just got home after my government provided replacement didn't show up and we had to scramble. A manager took over so I could get a few hours of sleep before tomorrow. At a certain point is just not enough nurses to care for everyone. I am working insane hours. So every person who stays home is lowering the burden on the medical system, which is about to break right now or at least it feels that way.

I would say a lot more about the situation right now, but I just don't have the words right now and I think I would get emotional and too intense real quick.

I hope your friend improves, Ghost and I am sorry to hear about her situation.

A lot of my city's nurses got sent to another city in the state where there was a worse outbreak and now it's worsening here so they've raised us to a level 4 and are begging people to not travel (since, surprise surprise, the state gov is once again blocking lockdown attempts) because we don't have enough nurses for the increase in patients.

And yet, this many months in, I have still seen posts on Twitter like 'Do you actually know anyone who has had covid?'

Like I'm sorry if you don't know anyone who has either a) you're lying, or b) THE ISOLATION IS WORKING YOU DONUT

From a quick look at the mobile website it's hard to tell.. does Foundry support non-ogl books like roll20 and fantasy groundS?

This page lists all the packages, modules, etc. people have provided for it so far: https://foundryvtt.com/packages/
