I deal, sometimes, with severe pain and weakness in my legs. No idea why. Times I've seen doctors for it in the past they do tests (examination, MRIs, etc etc) and come back with a big shrug.

It's just this terrible, intense pain that sometimes gets bad enough all I can do is lie there and remind myself to breathe until it passes.

I've been lucky enough to not have an episode in quite a while, but for the past week it's been bad and getting progressively worse. I've had times where this drives me to need a cane until it passes and I really hope that isn't the case this time.

If you don't wanna wait, Jennifer Hudson performing Memories on The Voice finale.

The amount of emotion she brings to the song is perfect.

      Saw Cats tonight.
You get past the weirdness pretty quickly; in part I think because it is like watching the show and the dancing is distracting from the 'omg they're furry and tails and..'

      Anyway.

Whole movie worth it for Jennifer Hudson singing Memories. At least imo.

Since @Wizz came back to Gaston, we've been talking about making duchy. It's something I've always fancied the idea of, but without having had an inter/active Gaston previously, was something I largely put on the backburner in favor of building income/resources and getting plot for people in the house.

For Blackram, it makes sense. It's nothing against Telmar. It's the fact that Blackram is written as being so isolated (the Cloudspine is way out there) that they largely govern themselves anyway. ICly, why wouldn't they want to take that step up and make it 'official' in a sense? I mean, they're a March in the Oathlands whose physical closest neighbor.... is Farhaven.

So storywise it makes sense for them to look around and go 'you know what? we've supported ourselves for this long. Let's take that step and make it official.'

And who knows, maybe being a Duchy (if/when we get there) with the ability to add marches beneath us will be appealing to incoming players wanting to make their own house, because no one's had an interest in being a county or barony.

      @wahoo

I bring it up only because I know what that bank used to look like, and it is problematic to try and say Velenosa is going to feel a significant impact from losing their taxes. Unless Velenosa is way, way worse off than it used to be.

      It is.

I feel like @wahoo would be better served with a constructive thread asking how to grow her own house, rather than asking how to stop other people from doing it.

By its very nature, this topic feels less than constructive.

Which is, unfortunately, how things often seem to pan out. The high tier materials becoming illegal, prohibitively expensive, etc., may have plot reasons but it also feels like a 'a lot of PCs have these and we want them to feel special still while slowing down gain so the rest of you are being punished for not getting your gear fast enough'

Which is exactly how a 'We don't want anyone else to be raised without the perfect storm of reasons so we're stopping all elevations' would feel. Like being told: 'sorry you took your time, too bad, so sad, rush to the finish line in the future.'

I think, also, it's silly to put forth 'find other ways to grow' while also being like 'Liege houses shouldn't suffer a loss!' ........doesn't that just give them something to work towards? You can't tell House A 'find things to work towards and put effort into so that House B doesn't have to'

@Sunny the problem comes with the liege houses losing because they didn’t crash all over someone. And that seems like poor game design— you don’t want to punish for that.

If theme becomes: and you’re ALL duchies! You know. Whatever. Little weird, but ok.

Why was this not a problem until it’s ONE great house taking the L? (The terminology of losing was introduced by @Wahoo not me.)

Like 4 or 5 houses got elevated last AoP and it was all “clap clap applause clap woohoo!”

People lost income then, too. It just wasn’t your great house.

Maybe because those houses involved PCs in the effort. They talked to their lieges. They talked to the Faith. They didn't just '@action give this to us'
Which has been the entire complaint the whole time.

isn’t the obvious answer to build some sort of relationship with your vassals and be a good leader that inspires them to want to remain in your fealty?

      that's not how it works

I have nothing against my liege but still want to rise because it makes sense for the house/family/story.

large scale famines or plagues or natural disasters would work just as well, but wars are the least unpleasant of the big events because they allow players to have input and steer how the conflict comes out in the end.

and people traditionally hate famine/plague type plots.

And unfortunately, because people are making noises about 'we can't have everyone elevate!' (which is a sensible thing, tbh, and I feel that elevation makes sense for some houses, but not for others) we're gonna see, I imagine, a lot of Houses rush their way to be elevated before the (in their eyes) inevitable moratorium in which it's decided 'no other house can elevate ever'.

Just noticed this on Win10 this morning. At first I thought it was because the time on my PC was off (I dual boot Windows and Linux and Windows doesn't like it when the clock is in UTC) but I closed the app, fixed the time, restarted it and the timestamps in the tooltips were still off.

I was just coming in here to ask about this very issue. Guess I'll update later!

Lady I get that carrying groceries on the bus is a pain but maybe find a way to manage them that doesn't involve taking up all the bench space at the bus stop.

We're using Google Sheets at the moment actually for character sheet keeping

Question for @Raeras - is staff saving copies of sheets? Is it on a trust basis to make sure people aren't cheating/altering their sheets?

For others: I know some people are really hesitant to share their email, personal info, etc. Sheets are hosted on your GDrive. So you may want to look into a spare/MU-only email address if you play and are concerned about your email being seen.

@Coin Yeah. It's why I said nothing is perfect and devil's advocate and all that jazz. The good part here is that a dedicated new player can catch up to a week 1 dinosaur.

And otherwise, you almost never can. Even if a game has 'XP slowdown' vs a cap, a newbie is still gonna be churning away for months upon months upon- likely never pulling it off.
