I can't say I wouldn't enjoy seeing a Dark Ages Vampire game. Perhaps something set a little later, just prior to all the War or Princes or during the War of Princes, just before the formation of the Inquisition. No historical accuracy necessary.
Or a Victorian Changeling the Dreaming, set in Victorian London and drawing heavily from (again) historical sources without any historical accuracy. Draw from Black Butler, and I'd be happy.
I'm back to working on Houses of the Blood, making some headway on powers, which is were I stalled out (plus insanity inhaled me into a void of RL). No specific opening date, but I'm back to work on it.
All this talk makes me want it. I really enjoyed the Scion game that we played (less due to rules than to plot, story and concept behind Scion as a whole), and this sounds like it will fix a lot of the issues we ended up having with the Scion system (I'm looking at you, Untouchable Opponent).
Looks like OPP will be getting more of my hard-earned monies.
@Auspice
Cool. And also congrats! I am a fucking heel for not putting that in the original post. I was just a little surprised, considering their blog posts were in full support of Zak and had essentially said 'we researched and found no provable incidents and evidence of stuff'. Which really made things even worse.
Anyway. Super awesome for you. It makes me kinda want to finish up my profile and send it over, since I really kinda... don't want to deal with OPP in that same manner.
ARISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!!!
Ahem...
General Update...
I'm still a ways from opening, but I'll get there. Probably in the next couple of months, if not sooner, depending on how quickly some things go. More as it develops.
I think if you really set it up so that it's not just 'oh, Vampire Sphere A sucked, let's disgruntled players make Vampire Sphere B'. I'd hate to say it, but having a limited amount of things that are the same genre/game might be useful there.
Welp.
@Thenomain
On Penn, it just requires the Guest characters to have the Guest power, and have the password guest. Otherwise it then connects to them in DBREF order, and doesn't duplicate connect if they're all used up. Test it that way?
@admiral
This. It's going to require walking some of the 5e considerations back (like coterie creation, adding back in purchasable Generation and then balancing that, trying to make sure some of the attendant powers that allow you to mess with the narrative are consistently enforced) and added house rules (how to handle relationship maps, for example) to do on a MU*.
Eventually there will be LARP rules (per the AMA) but I wouldn't expect them anytime soon. The licensees still have to pitch it, and they want the existing BNS stuff to 'move towards' the V5 metaplot, but I doubt it'll be 'and next year, V5 LARP by By Night Studios'.
The 100 continues to make me want to THROTTLE THE WRITERS and yet COME BACK FOR MORE.
Season 4 has been kinda nailbiting.
@Moritz
I think you misread my question. In current 616 canon, there are two versions of Beast: O5 Beast and Big Blue Beast. Do you allow for both of those to exist, as technically they are separate characters.
I feel like its' because they had to address SO MUCH BULLSHIT because of the OH GOD NAZIS! controversy.
Saw Beauty and the Beast.
Was pleased. Not the bestest Disney live-action (that still goes to Cinderella so far), but... was pleased with the outcome!
Sweet. I'm well-versed in the rings from story-mechanics. I will look into it as I have an idea for a Blue Lantern of Earth.
Yeah. It's going to be difficult, if not impossible, to adapt this to a MU* without pulling out some of the more interesting mechanics or tearing staff's heads open with staff oversight needed.
That said, I'm super looking forward ot actually running it; we are doing our Session Zero on Tuesday for my 4 man TT game of it.
Finding an auction for things you want (in this case, WW LARP clan pins) that doesn't go insanely high AND it you are able to snipe it and get it for a good deal. 9 pins for $50, and I'll make back $15 on selling a set of duplicates...
I've been reading the site and planning to app and, speaking as a gay man, I don't find it problematic. It's part of the inset theme of the game, much like how the Game of Thrones books (no idea if any GoT games talk about it) handles being a gay character. Or any other aspect of theme that should be adhered to. If it's not your cup of tea, then that's fine.
But treating it as some social normative issue is leaning in a fairly disingenuous way to do it, because looking at it, it's NOT the point of it. It's something IC and, I would trust staff to adjudicate and take action when/if something crosses the line into OOC.
