I mostly sad because he has some mobility issues; he has trouble using his back legs sometimes, and so he'll flop down and pull himself for a bit, then go back to walking. It's just arthritis in those from what the vets said. He still loves to play and any time he's cuddling and I'm listening to my headphones he's like 'Hey, STRING! batbatchew!' or we'll walk past his bed and he'll go 'MROWL!' and want a treat. And SpecialCat (I will call her that from now on, okay?) sounds adorable. We really don't deserve the fluffs in our lives.

RE: Windows 10/Color 256 woes?
I use MUSHclient. It works fine.
You'd have to set yourself xterm256 to have the colors work. This is on PennMUSH anyway. -

@faraday
You'd have to edit the hardcode though wouldn't you? @odrop (at least on Penn) only covers what is after the name, as it automatically includes the name. Perhaps an @adrop that remits to the room. -

But it's just freaking sewer water! Holy crap people. -

Do your San Francisco up by districts, and if necessary, break those districts down into sub-areas. I was looking at San Francisco as a setting for the original vampire game I'm doing before I switched to NYC, and ended up coming up with some areas (I found a district/neighborhood map) and then was going to fluff it internally for what goes where.The maps I used (data hoarder!) were:

@Sunny
Actually, I asked. At least on Penn you can set the @odrop NONAME and it won't prepend the name, so you can futz with the messages completely. -
RE: Critters!
Thanks guys. It means a lot. He had a great, great life and was the best kitty.

RE: New Player Onboarding
When I first started, the couple of games I started out on (Beast Wars Transformers, and SuperMUX) had both player-helpers as well as a general glossary of common terms. Nowadays, a glossary like that might be best as a specific 'here is the new player orientation' page. I've seen a couple of really nice ones throughout various games.

RE: New Vampire Release
You are in for a wild ride. Beep beep goes the crazy train. I'm reading things through a second time as we had Session Zero on Tuesday.

@Collective
I can use it fine on Windows 10. I didn't even have to run it in compatibility mode. -
RE: Fallen World MUX?
@Thenomain
Figured I'd throw it up here. The wiki design is reminiscent of an OWoD V20 game I saw at one point (also set in NYC) that never seemed to get off the ground. It is a pretty wiki. -

I found this purely by accident yesterday.

IF you like Marvel, and off-characters like Spider-Gwen, Squirrel Girl or Kamala Khan's Ms. Marvel, this is for you. it's a 30 minute compilation of 10 minute shorts that, from what I can tell, may get a full cartoon series.
It was funny, the animation was good and overall... very good.

Try running it in a compatibility mode? -
RE: Character Rosters
This is a concept that I can get behind. Non-named, statted, with a blurb about what they are and people can just grab-and-go. We're doing this for the Tremere-specific game our LARP has coming this next weekend with things like 'The Modernizer' or 'The Antimagic Experiment' or 'The Archaeologist' which keeps the gender and stuff fluid and able to be played by any player.

The Flash last night was tooooooooo much.
More references to other DCU characters.
Batman Beyond references.

RE: [Request] Policy Template
I think there's a point where there's a bit of 'blinders' on the policy stuff, particularly in certain communities throughout MU*land. I see people here saying that you don't need to define policies in the most strictest detail, but some of those polices - and people not following them -- are the very things that we bitch about on this forum. And then when it becomes a clusterfuck because there was no policy point to reference, it spirals into insanity.
From the standpoint of covering your ass as a staffer, have as much -- and as detailed -- policy as you need. If people choose not to read it and violate the policy, this is why you have stuff like a strikes/warning policy. It is not MY responsibility to make everyone read the policies; I can't force them to be reach. However, if you explicitly say 'playing here states you agree to the policies in X, Y, Z' and then they break those, you have your ass covered.
@Collective do your thang. Make your policies. You saw the link to mine; it's my expectation that that shit gets read and adhered to in order to keep the theme and setup of the game I want to run. And the environment I want to foster for players to enjoy themselves.

Conflict between factions within the same larger organization isn't a substitute for conflict with other organizations.
What larger organization? Kindred society? Covenants aren't subsects of one big overarcing sect or organization.

I saw a game in the Half-Price Books the other day called Victoriana that is... pretty much this thing.
