RE: Windows 8 & 10 - Thread Updated
@ThatOneDude
I'll look into that. I really only just shut stuff down to sleep mode, and I'm finding oiut that Windows 10 automatically updates rather than prompts you to. So I had something open (but saved, thankfully) last night when I went to bed, and when I got up today everything was closed with no prompts or anything. This may be annoying. I've set it to 'prompt for reboot' now, but being unable to adjust what updates and do it on my timetable is a little annoying.Also, looks like the font thing was fixed during a manual update yesterday, so there's that.

RE: +repose
@TNP
That's more or less what we're discussing, except it's stored and used globally rather than individual objects. Though that's a thought; a command that drops an object in the room that logs it until dismissed, that way it's obvious in the room contents that there's a logger going on. -
RE: +repose
@ThatGuyThere
That shouldn't be hard to do. Have an attr on the room; if it is set to 1, it can log. If not, it won't log. -
RE: Good TV
Unrelated, but apparently the cancelled Constantine show, the same version of Constantine will be guesting on Arrow at some point in the new season.

RE: Windows 8 & 10 - Thread Updated
@HelloRaptor
Do you have any specific tweaks or suggestions you'd recommend? I am working at downloading my Steam stuff, but just on a couple of tests, things like Bloodlines runs a lot better on the new laptop (probably due to the ram and integrated video card, but...)ETA: Found my first error. Fonts are installed, but on some things that use them from the HD (like Chrome and my font stuff on my game's wiki), the font doesn't display.

RE: Windows 8 & 10 - Thread Updated
So I got everything updated on my new laptop for Windows 10.
It seems quite nice. I've removed all the funky tiles I didn't want to deal with, but I've gotten all of my other stuff installed so far. Seems to be working quite well.

@Arkandel
The one I posted has log clearing in it, and I think it does exactly that level of clearing.@Shebakoby
Probably. I'm sure that they all came from similar source material. -

I know Volund well from MVC, where we've played together for years before I let myself time out there.@Sponge
I may have an older POT that I should work for PennMUSH that was posted to pastebin; I've not tested it though, but it looks like it comes from the M3/SRT/etc. circuit. You could give it a whirl?

RE: +repose
@Tez
Yeah, but can you actually install Volund's POT without all of the other systems? Every time I look at his code I get a headache from all of the interlinks. -
RE: Rewards in WoD
@Olsson
We do this all the time in the LARP I run. It's not as crazy as people will make it out to be, at least in
my experience. We had a plot that recently ended, where a Lasombra Antitribu was posing as an Anarch Ventrue, who was posing as a Toreador of the Cam and causing all kinds of kerfluffles in order to offbalance the cam through political strife. It worked quite well; they found out about him through some really good investigation stuff. He had weapons throughout the house and when they took him into custody via staking to interrogate, a number of people took some weapons from the house. It wasn't a big deal.Like @Coin said, long equipment lists are pointless IMO.
The one thing that's required is that, if you get something that's represented by a dot such as working your way to an Ally or Retainer, you must buy it within the next month with XP or it goes away.
@Arkandel
E6 is probably a reference to original PC grinder D&D where you'd likely have to have backup PCs sitting around to deal with the massive lethality of older D&D modules and the 'player vs. GM' mentality that was part of the GM guides of that time.@Sponge
This is really why I love the OWoD MET influence systems in both versions, that kind of thing right there.ETA: Deleted the double post and added it here.

RE: RL Anger
@HelloRaptor
I uninstall all the default (read: shittacular) antivirus like McAfee and usually use Avast combined with malwarebytes and other run-as-need programs.I ended up getting it; it seemed like it was hanging during the install, as it had finished downloading and was just sitting at 'Preparing for installation...' and the green bar had stopped moving. It finally got moving and got running up really quickly, and it's installed fine now.
-
RE: RL Anger
@HelloRaptor
I may look into that. This will be the second attempt to install it where it's locked up. -
RE: RL Anger
Windows 10 update is annoying.
New computer's up and running fine so there's that, but Win10 update seems to be hung up. It says 'Preparing for installation...' and the green bar is at like, i dunno, 20 percent we'll say. It's been at 20% for the past 45 minutes. -
RE: RL Anger
@Arkandel
That's my plan this morning. Let's hope things don't go insane. I'm trying to go back through the files because, I wanted to make sure something was working and the new laptop gave me an update prompt, but I skipped it to do it later, and now I'm trying to find that update prompt in the system again.I felt roughly like a mutant with anti-tech powers yesterday because of this, as my phone kept having app crashes every time I opened them for about three hours too, last night.
ETA: Found it. Time to update. Wish me luck and send me some Genoshan anti-mutant power blockers.

RE: RL Anger
I want to scream. This morning my laptop started going insane. I haven't lost my data (thank god), but it doesn't want to do much beyond start and lag. IE uninstalled itself. Chrome crashed and when trying to uninstall it, it won't reinstall.
It was an old laptop anyway, and I had the spare cash, so I went and bought a new one. Nothing fancy, but good for what I need it for (and bonus, it has a better video setup so doing some stuff like gaming will be a little easier) But god damn it, I hate Windows 8.1 so far. I really like the interface in 7 and hope I can hack 8.1 or 10 to look and function like 7.

RE: Batch edit?
@il-volpe
My advice when using parents is to default all the messages to the parent; that way, if you fuck something up, it's a single piece of fix. Now, your messages will all be samey (but honestly, sometimes conformity across the board is fine, it makes things more easy to follow). -
RE: Batch edit?
Is the message on the parent? If so, you just need to fix the parent.
If it's on individual exits, you'll need to
@dol [lsearch(all,type,exit)]=@edit ##/attr=search,replace
