RE: BESM 4th Edition KS
@Seamus
Those things were in the core book of BESM 3rd Edition as well; it gave you pre-created Attributes and CP values for races, classes, or other packages. -
RE: Fringe/Weird RPGs
- Undying: A PBtA hack, modern Vampires, with an odd 'bidding' mechanic for blood and narrative escalation.
- MECHA: Just what it says on the tin, a rules-light and quick to get started mecha game. Seems like it could run anything from Gundam to Robotech/Macross to Voltron (via the Combiners book). I've thought about using it for Gundam Build Fighters pastiche IRL.
- Meikyuu Kingdom: Translates as Labyrinth Kingdom, but the wordplay is Make You Kingdom. It's a dungeon crawler where you recover pieces of your kingdom in the style of FF My Life As A King, complete with adorable dungeon planning with stuff like 'when you take lunch' and a bunch of classes. Fan translation for now.
- Maid RPG: Random creation maids who serve a master, it's slapstick as hell and real crazy.
- Kobolds At My Baby!: Weird RPG about playing a group of Kobolds, lots of randomness and funny stuff as you die. A lot.

RE: General Video Game Thread
Bloodstained is the Castlevania game we all didn't know we needed. It's really good, controls are snappy, lots of options, good voice acting, pretty art, and MICHIRU YAMANE COMPOSED THE MUSIC.

RE: DigitalOcean Mediawiki ShortURL
WISE FWOM YOUW GWAVE!
I finally got this, so I figured I'd share it here.
First I went through httpd.conf and changed every instance of AllowOverride to All
Then I did this...
getenforce
setenforce 0
sudo systemctl restart httpd.serviceI added the below under DocumentRoot in my virtual host config in sites-available:
<Directory />
Options FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
</Directory>
<Directory /var/www/YOURDOMAIN.COM/public_html>
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
allow from all
</Directory>I rebooted the httpd.service again using the systemctl above.
Then I did my .htaccess in my public_html folder, and used this.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^wiki/(.)$ mw/index.php?title=$1 [PT,L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^wiki/$ mw/index.php [L,QSA]
RewriteRule ^wiki$ mw/index.php [L,QSA]In LocalSettings.php, I added these under wgscriptpath:
$wgArticlePath = "/wiki/$1";
$wgUsePathInfo= true;It worked perfectly to redirect /mw/ to /wiki/.
I also used another setting to make the core .com redirect in the .htaccess as well, just putting this under the info above..
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} domain\.com [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /mw/$1 [L]It's working perfectly now.

RE: AnomJobs - Trouble With Installation
@skew
At least some of it had been posted onto a github, but I don't know how public that was meant to be. -
RE: AnomJobs - Trouble With Installation
@skew
shrug I would have expected a code suite to be the same, more or less, across the board. Apparently not. -
RE: AnomJobs - Trouble With Installation
@skew
I'd have to load up SGP in some way, but the last time I had pulled SGP up to use, there was a lot of code already in, and there was an Ajobs-like system, with code, TPs, etc. buckets. I didn't really mess around with it extensively, I just recall it being there and mapping to a lot of how AJobs looked and seemed to function. But it has been a while since I looked at it. It was part of the PennMUSH SGP minimal DB. -
RE: AnomJobs - Trouble With Installation
@skew
It comes with an Ajob-alike system, but it's not Ajobs specifically. -
RE: AnomJobs - Trouble With Installation
You might try quoting it a different way. The last time I tried to use AnomJobs for something, I had to use MUSHclient's quoting feature rather than copy/pasting from the file.
Also I'm not familiar too much with TinyMUX, but maybe make sure you're not running out of money? Give yourself the max, make sure that when you are doing commands you're not out of money?

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Late to the party, but Birdbox was really good.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
Atomic Blonde was a lot better than I had expected it to be. I like Charlize and McAvoy, which was good, but the premise was nice, and the visuals were pretty awesome.

RE: XP Log Code
Heh. Good is in the eye of the beholder. I just didn't know if there was maybe a common standard that some people used.The part I'm mostly stuck on is displaying it; I'd rather not have it display as just one big run-on page, and eventually a single attribute will run out of space.
I'm currently storing it as Date_With_Underlines|Earn#|Spend#|Reason_with_Underlines.
I suppose I could have it check words() to see how many entries, and if it's equal to a pre-defined max (maybe 25), have it start whatever the next in sequence would be, much like the BBS determines the next message number.

XP Log Code
Does anyone have a good, working, XP log code out there that is PennMUSH compatible (or even one from a different system I can look at to tinker with for ideas) that doesn't use SQL? I have a mostly working one, but I'm having some trouble with the display options, so I'd like to take a look at someone's actually working code.

RE: Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition (VtM 5E)
New book announced for V5 (and four others were announced by Modiphius as well).
From Modiphius:
- The Fall of London V5 Chronicle (Summer 2019) – London is burning. As the Second Inquisition put the city's Kindred to the torch, your characters wake from torpor. The sensible thing would be to flee now, but before you can leave the capital, you have one last job to do... This campaign is perfect to bring your Vampire players up to speed on the plot developments in Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition or as as a gateway for new players.
- V5 Players Guide (Summer 2019) – A guide to playing different styles of Vampire: The Masquerade to help you play the way YOU want to play, from gritty street level drama to romantic blood opera, complete with advice, new rules, and guidance on using the 5th Edition system to play previous editions of Vampire..
- V5 Starter Set - (Christmas 2019) - An introductory starter set containing rules to play a self-contained campaign, with premade characters, handouts, maps, tokens and dice.
- The Second Inquisition (Summer 2020) – Discover the plans, strategies, resources, and technologies of the highly secret organisations charged with investigating and eliminating the vampire threat, including Firstlight and the Society of St. Leopold.. This supplement for V5 will give Storytellers everything they need to know about these feared and fearless organisations to provide all manner of covert opposition for your Chronicle, along with advice for Storytellers who want to run chronicles featuring player characters as a well-equipped covert team of Second Inquisition operatives.
From OPP:
- Cult of the Blood Gods: Seems to be focusing on various Kindred worships, and will feature the Hecata, Bahari and Church of Caine as well as others. Just announced, so no real info yet.

RE: General Video Game Thread
Here's a snip of my current Steam library (yes, it's small), my friend hasn't given me the codes for Stellaris that he has yet and a few other things. And some DRM free stuff I got from GOG as well.
-
RE: General Video Game Thread
I'll add those to my research list; I've watched the first Ni no Kuni be played on a Playstation, and it looked cool. So thank you for the recommendations.
As far as the FPS, I'm going to be tweaking it. I have some depth perception issues with my eyes, so I'm going to be messing around, but most of the games my friend plays on his desktop he runs at a little higher than 60FPS and they're okay, but when you're getting really high it starts to give me eye strain, if that makes sense. Mid settings are totally fine; I like it to look pretty and have good graphics, but I don't need to see the pimples on the stableboy's face.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@sab
$479 plus tax, so like $502 after tax.
These are clearanced at Walmarts due to Walmart bringing in MSI brands and their own Overpowered internal brand.
I found the deal on a website slickdeals.net where I've also found deals on games, and the deal that got me my new unlocked Android phone for $100 instead of $250.
You'd have to search on the walmart app or the Brickseek website for your zip to see if any are in stock, but it was worth the expanding zip code search for me, since I was out of town Sunday and the Walmart near where I was had 2. -
RE: General Video Game Thread
@jaded
That's part of why I skipped the Asus ROG as well. This HP had good reviews, and the forum I found the deal on, a lot of people had bought them and gave a good rundown of it. I feel like it was worth the $480.
