@Runescryer
No worries. The biggest takeaway from this is the issue got big enough (as in, on Russian news sites, which is the primary big thing, and doxxing and death threats) for Paradox to step in and essentially do what most of us who were following expected when the new CEO came on board: take away WW's full managerial autonomy and run it from the business side.

V5 Online Tabletop via Discord?
I really like V5.. I haven't really been this inspired for Vampire since the new MET LARP book came out.
My short term in person tabletop V5 game will be winding down soon.
I'm debating running a V5 game on Discord.
I like you guys, and I think it would be fun to actually run a game without all the MU* baggage.
I am curious if there would be 4-5 people (5 would be ideal) who might be up for a once-weekly V5 tabletop game via Discord, Eastern time in the evening, using text channels for the game, with voice channel for some things like background music.
The setup for the game would be Camarilla-based, focused on a city following up a few scant years after a majority of their Elders have left, succumbed to the Beckoning. The ideal for the PC coterie would be involved loosely in the political aspects of the city, with leeway for the players to involve themselves as deeply as they would like. But with this new open world, what secrets were the Elders hiding and what things that go bump in the night are now bold enough to make their way into the city? What brave new worlds opened up for the PCs?
ETA: A couple of other things:
- In addition to Chronicle Tenets and Convictions, there would be a 'soft list' of Sins that gain stains, as implied by the book text and confirmed by Karim (essentially there are other situations, mostly related to being a bloody monster, that should generate Stains but they didn't give a full list.
- Game would be run via Discord, text-based so as MU*-alike as possible. Discord has a V5 dicebot which works wonderfully.
- Character sheets and such would be done on Google Sheets for ease of access of everything in real time.
If you're interested you can PM me or post here. If you have questions, feel free to PM me or post.

RE: Message from White Wolf
The licensing thing isn't at all new news, other than they won't be doing the cores in house any more. They were up front waaaaay early on when Paradox bought it that they were primarily licenser, only doing the core books in house because those would form the backbone of any/all transmedia (video games, etc.) properties, which is why the bought it.

RE: 80s Style Masters of the Universe/Thundercats/Visionaries Game...
@kumakun
LOL. My group plays all kinds of stuff. I'm running a game focused around high school aged exorcists and their deals with yokai, very much inspired by Ushio and Tora and Shaman King.Back on topic though, something less crunchy and easy to make a character would be best. I helped out with the old He-MUX way back in the day and we had a very simplified version of the common TF combat style code. Something like Cortex, or maybe a less lethal (can you do a non-lethal version of) FS3 might work.

Yea, as someone running a high-powered BESM game RL right now, BESM is far from simple. If you don't have system mastery, you'll be far far behind the curve.

RE: Random links
@thenomain
Well, Kenneth Hite is the core designer from what I understand, with only minimal input on the story progression points. It has not been said who has final approval, but multiple writers have said that they turned in their material and didn't see anything until after the editing process was done. If anything, Martin has final approval, but Martin has always been vocal about wanting to make a 'political horror 'game using real-world 'ripped from the headlines' material.From the scuttlebutt that's going around, a large part of the blame lays on the primary editor (which would be Freja Gyldenstrom). Maybe damage control, maybe not, but multiple sources have stated that that section was editing together from two character POVs. There was also a rumor, which I can't source sadly, that the physical books have been put on hold while the section is redone. The rumor states Paradox actually stepped in, which WOULD be in line with the mentality of their new CEO.
If I get source I'll edit. But like you, I would like for them to do horror, but you're right; it has to be done with care. The problem is, there's a point where some things that some people find insensitive may not be to others (and are not objectively so), and so you end up with subjective interpretations and subjective POVs on the material.
There's also a self-admitted chunk of the fanbase so offended by everything in V5 that they actually want to see WW tank and the IP pass hands (despite reports that Paradox paid an initial $2mil for it with furter payments ove the first three years of the company's existence). And at that point, who is going to touch an IP that tanked and has no real 'public' eye.
I dunno. We'll see.

RE: Random links
@auspice
I don't disagree. The problem is sourcing though, and who and what still needs course correction. There's a bunch of stuff elsewhere about parts of that section being two different character POVs edited together during the editing process, and some other things about one of the people who talked to WW during the development of that chapter being a gay man from that area. So who really knows at this point.Myself, I'm just ignoring that section and going on about my life planning to run a game.

RE: Random links
Zak S. hasn't worked for them since he wrote the We Eat Blood game and consulted just prior to WoD Berlin (which was almost 2 years ago). He hasn't been hired to freelance anything since then.
The person leaving is Tobias, who was announced leaving a couple of months ago, but no new CEO has been announced.

RE: Good TV
@surreality
I have given up on Arrow.Way too... I dunno. I felt like the end of season whenever they drove off into the sunset was the 'good ending' of Arrow, and Ollie in my mind is living happy with Felicity except for when he has to show up for crossover.

RE: What RPG SYSTEM do you want to play on a Mu*?
MECHA by Chris Perrin.
I hate their movement/distance rules, but their way of doing human and mecha stats, and the combination thereof, is cool. -
RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Tablet is on the fritz.
Was working last night to watch a couple episodes of anime in bed.
Get home from errands to get it ready to take to Vampire tonight, and it won't boot.
Grumblegrumble. -
RE: Good TV
Sabrina's been a comic since the 1950s. Chilling Adventures is a more recent imprint for them, just like Afterlife with Archie.

@thenomain
That sucks. Those situations are why we've invested in a combination lock hide-a-key on the back deck; it's saved us a number of times. -
RE: Good TV
Yeah, but it's not the comics' 'bi, snarky Salem the cat talking ALL THE TIME' which is what Theno is referencing. But yeah, familiars seem to be able to talk when they need to, like Stolas.

RE: Good TV
@thenomain
Sabina's cat is a goblin taking an animal form, rather than a warlock cursed to be a cat. So probably not. He doesn't talk in this version. -
RE: Good TV
@derp
I'm most of the way through Sabrina, it's been super great. -
RE: Ixokai
My condolences to his family and friends.
I didn't know him well, but he was always fun to interact with on here, and the couple games I was on with him.
