HP Pavilion.
I ran through a lot of benchmark videos on it, things that I'm going to be playing like FO3 and 4, Arkham, and such run in the 60FPS range, bunch of older stuff. I also wanted something with a little more rendering and processing power than my laptop I'm on now for some other programs like InDesign.

RE: General Video Game Thread
So I broke down and bought a gaming laptop.
Operating system: Windows 10 Home
Processor: 8th Generation Intel Core i5-8300H Processor
Display: 15.6-inch diagonal FHD IPS anti-glare micro-edge WLED-backlit (1920 x 1080)
Memory: 8 GB DDR4-2666 SDRAM (1 x 8 GB)
Internal storage: 1 TB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB GDDR5 dedicated)Going to load another stick of RAM in it at least. But I need some additional game suggestions, in addition to some of the ones I've got. Fighters, RPGs, platformers, strategy games... suggestions welcome.

RE: Discussion - RPG System For OC Hero Game
@zombiegenesis
Relatedly, there are a few games out there that use Cortex ala MHR that have character creation rules. I guy I know IRL wrote an Exalted hack for Cortex that I can link you to, which has a pretty succinct creation system that could be used for superheroes if you ever wanted to go that route.but I echo Theno. Go with a system that you will love and have an easy time explaining to people, helping people with, etc.

BESM Ultimate? What is this thing?

RE: Who are you?
Hrm.
- I'm the youngest of 6, and all my siblings (all half-siblings from my dad's first marriage) are significantly older than me. My oldest brother was 18 when I was born, the next up from me was 13 when I was born.
- I have no tattoos, used to have my ears pierced, and still have my tongue pierced.
- My mother and my third grade teacher are the reason that I love reading. I still have my very first 'horror' book that my teacher had us read, House of Hackman's Hill. It holds a special place in my heart. And I regret losing the entire collection of Star Wars novels that my mother collected and we both read after she died.
- I used to play a lot of video games, but I don't really any more. I have tons of video games for my computer (thanks Steam sales and gifts and free bundles!) but I don't have a computer that'll run all of them.
- I had an allergy to a yellow dye that is common in foods when I was a kid (especially cheeses), so I don't have a taste for cheese. I think I grew out of the allergy (I've eaten other things with it in it), but it's so ingrained for me to say 'I am allergic to that' as I've grown up. It's always weird to say that and have someone say 'wow, I feel sorry for you, you don't know what you're missing' and have to explain 'look, I don't have a taste for it, but I know what I'm missing: possible ANAPHYLAXIS OKAY'
- The above is especially the reason I love italian foods, despite being raised southern in KY.
- I hate seafood of all kinds except calamari and eel.
- I'm such a softie, I love all animals no matter what. The more ugly-cute something is the more I squee like child.
- I have trained away my southern accent, but I absorb the accents of the people around me, so it's funny to go home and come back and people ask me about my redneck accent.
- MU*ing saved me from suicide. A good friend on BWTMet and M3 offered me to live with him for a summer, which kept me from killing myself over my being gay and not having a way out of the hellhole town I was born and raised in. Led to my current now-married situation with my husband of 17 years.

RE: Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition (VtM 5E)
Well.
- WW was only ever going to develop the core books in house, and everything else was planned to be licensed out to interested parties anyway. The only major change is that WW is now absorbed by Paradox and isn't its own self-contained subsidiary any more.
- They're still going to be brand managing, so they'll still have control of what's approved to be written. This will be managed by whoever Paradox hires into that position.
- Modiphius is now the primary publisher and writer for the tabletop material, and has announced on their own their plans to work with OPP as well.
- Modiphius has, from what I understand, a fairly large presence both as a writer and as a publisher. I believe they wrote Tales from the Loop, Conan and Star Trek Adventures amongst others, and have published/distributed others such as the most recent version of Kult. They were also chosen for their large physical distribution connections, which means that printed books can continue to get into stores.

RE: Good TV
The CW DCTVU crossover this year was amazing.
I need Superman to get his own spinoff show. Like, right fucking now.
I need all the DC movies to tank so we can just get a proper Justice League TV show.
The crossover also did and set up exactly what I was expecting it to.
Overall, super pleased.

RE: Is there a game about...
The Masquerade game was using the newest LARP rules, seeing as they are pretty suited to MU*-style play. But anywho. If something does happen, I hope to hear about it; I would love to get my game on again.

RE: Is there a game about...
I would love to have a single venue vampire game that was actually active. Having tried to build it, and got no help, it feels like a pipe dream.

RE: Is there a game about...
@kumakun
The other Macross MUs have had the problem of being heavily reliant on TV shows that a lot of people haven't seen. There've been a couple of Macross MUs and the Robotech MUSH that !@Ganymede mentioned. The problem becomes accessibility; how much of the convoluted Macross canon would someone need to know? -
RE: Is there a game about...
@chet
Mecha's just fun because there's so many variations. Or something like Wing Commander with space planes and pewpew. But whenever that come up 'Hey let's use <this overly complex softcoded space system!>' and I'm like 'interest lost, you have fun.' Exosquad is good stuff, and would fit for my tastes. -
RE: Is there a game about...
I know of one that was being worked on, and talked about on the WoD 5th Facebook, called Dies Irae. But from what was being said about it, it was veering into a fair bit of custom content and focusing on some blood economy payments minigame type dea.
I have looked at it insofar as running a TT game V5, and also going 'okay, there are lots of cool things here, but there are also things that won't work on a MU* long term'.
There are missing Clans that people would constantly ask about (cue MUH SABBAT!). The concept of certain Loresheets would not work out on a MU* because some of them are meant to be 'a single character has this special trait'. The way Generation is decided (which is 'what fits your story, all players should be roughly the same Gen, but go hog wild if you feel you're up to it' would not work within the context of a MU* (but bolting back on the Generation background would be difficult with certain aspects of the game).
You'd have to leave out a few juicy bits to make it really work on a MU*. But the core system and overall conceits are viable, and the new metaplot and setting advancements, I feel, would do wonders to invigorate a game. But it would require a dedicated ST to really push the setting; Elders being Beckoned, characters with age limitations.
I think it's doable, but i don't know how the community would come to it, when they have shown pretty clearly that there is little interest in single-venue games.
For me, what about mecha and/or space fighty games? Particularly ones that aren't going to trot out *-Space systems as necessity.

RE: Random links
On a related note.
A V5 actual play run by Jason Carl, one of the developers. This was done by Geek and Sundry on their Twitch, and it'll be added to their Youtube over the next few weeks, all the sessions.

RE: Message from White Wolf
That's the problem with licensing, and the direction of different projects. I'm less worried about tone (because I can ignore what i don't need or care for), and more hopeful that we continue to get interesting metaplot bits and cool mechanical stuff. Tone swings wildly from game to game that I run, so the 'tone' of how a book is written matters very little to me.

RE: Message from White Wolf
@insomniac7809
Right. That's more what I meant by taking away managerial autonomy. When WW was formed, it was kindof the 'pet project' for lack of a better term, for the guy who was the CEO of Paradox at the time, and were 'a self-managed subsidiary'. He's on the board now (I think?) and a new lady took over.We will see how things go. I like V5 and, despite the controversies, want to see more come out.
