    • RE: Mage 2E Game - Set in San Francisco

      Rostered characters?

I like the idea of putting together rostered characters where certain skills are put together already. The concept would be there, leaving the player to set the merit points (for merits, gnosis, etc), and also set the starting arcana.

However, the skills, attributes, and general concept would be there already?

Would that make things easier for people? Or is it a bad idea?

    • Idling all day on MU*s

Is it just me or do more people spend all their time idling in the OOC room or quiet room than actually going out to RP?

What's the point of even logging in if you're just idle? How would a MU* try to change this? How can we as players try to change this?

      Thoughts?

    • Mage 2e game - The Golden Road

I know people hate me or whatever, but I thought I'd throw this out there.

      The Golden Road

The Golden Road is a different take on mage only games. Instead of the setting being in a city the setting will change with each story arc, as the PCs will be mages inadvertently pulled into the new "Ascension War" as deliberate pawns of the Oracles and Exarchs (yes they do exist!)

The first story is called "The Names of Angels" and it occurs in a castle, where one group of mages will inherit its power. The castle itself will have many mysteries and many dangers which involve not only discovering the secrets within the castle, but also threats from other antagonist PCs who want control of the castle as well (which includes naturally Seers and Abyssal mages).

Grid is going to be changed from story to story. Mages can start out with 0 XP all the way to 30 XP for the first story with a gnosis cap of 4. Then the second story will boost everyone's XP to around 60 and a gnosis cap of 5. The third story will boost it to 90 and a gnosis cap of 6. Then we have all new characters at the end of the third arc and begin anew.

If interested, just HMU here or find me on Discord (jujubejd#3283).

      Let the hate spew.

    • RE: 2E Mage-focused Game

Now soft open so people can test chargen and soft RP. The grid is still being built, but I want to test the XP system, chargen, rolling to make sure all those things work. Thank you so much to @derp and @Thenomain for their help in debugging.

If you're interested, hop on goldenroad.mudhosting.net Port 4201.

      @Coin @Derp

The new Watchtowers "of the World" are as follows:

Aretos, The Artisan - Watchtower of The Copper Mallet in the Realm of Utopia

      Ruling Arcana
Matter and Prime. The world is founded on a duality: Truth and Reality, Theory and Practice, Supernal and Phenomenal, Prime and Matter. Prime provides the blueprints for the Aretos' works, and Matter supplies the raw materials used to implement those plans.

      Inferior Arcanum
Fate. The unpredictable, chaotic nature of this Arcanum runs counter to the orderly mind of the craftsman.

Axios, the Trader - Watchtower of the Adamantine Scale in the Realm of the Divine Commonwealth

      Ruling Arcana
Space and Fate. To the Axios, Space isn't primarily about distance or geometry; it's about Sympathetic Links: what is important to a person? Likewise, Fate isn't about manipulating probabilities; it's about a person's intentions and promises.

      Inferior Arcanum
Life is no gift, its a bargain. You can live but you will die; you can feel joy but you will also suffer. It is just a tool. What you can do with your life is more important than the life itself.

Kleos, the Sage - The Watchtower of the Tin Flute in the Realm of Akasha
      Ruling Arcana
      Time and Mind, fluff soon

      Inferior Arcana
      Space, fluff soon

Maestros, the Sorcerer - The Watchtower of Brass and Flame in the Elemental Nation (THE SIXTH)

      Ruling Arcana
      Forces and Spirit, fluff soon

      Inferior Arcana
      Prime, fluff soon

Sophros, the Druid - The Watchtower of the Wooden Chalice in the Realm of Elysium

      Ruling Arcana
Life and Death: The Empress Hanging herself. Shades clothed in flesh and speaking through beasts’ cries. They are but two sides of the same coin. A stag runs through the woods leaving a trail of blood. His flesh will sing in the stomach of the hunter and flowers will grow along his bones. The Lie blinds Sleepers to the beauty of rot and they forgot life is nothing but growth and decay endlessly repeating. They sneer at the stinking swamp but Druids know. In the foulest mire grows the fairest lotus.

Let other fear, Sophroï know they are immortals.

      Inferior Arcanum
Time: Sophroï know that time moves forward but it clashes with their understanding. For Druids and Medium alike Time is a circle of growth and decay, each giving birth to the other, each becoming the other. In Elysium there is no beginning and no ends, no past and no future, only an endless cycle always in movement.

    • Goldenroad looking for help (wiki and more!)

So, I need help. I know what I like doing and enjoy which is telling stories. I have a really big storyline that is planned out and have done so in an episodic manner.

What I don't know how to do is wiki fu and do bells and whistles (code) on a MU*. Thenomain and Derp have graciously helped with the code which is why we have a game up at all, but if someone was willing to help prettify the wiki, I would much appreciate it.

Finally, if someone likes worldbuilding and wants to build up a grid (I've built up the university, but I use temp rooms for most scenes), I'd be happy to have someone who likes building/descing places both real and imaginary for people to play in.

If you're interested, please hit me up (Cookie Monster) on the game: telnet://goldenroad.mudhosting.net:4201

      Thanks!

    • Magicy Shenanigans - high fantasy or more modern

I'm planning on doing another game. I definitely want magic involved as I'm a huge mage person, and I think high fantasy action is always called for. I ahve a few ideas what to pursue, but I want to see what people think. The ideas are simple.

      1. A world of pure magic where the governments are basically run by different guilds. Think of them as the different magical styles, and the intrigues that happen when different guilds try to take more territory for one another. What sorts of magical intrigue and politicking happens as a result? Think HIGH MAGIC L&L game. If you're familiar with the Cross-gen comic Mystic, it is mostly inspired by that.

      2. The Magicians. Set at the school. Think seasons 2 or later. None of the book characters, but more inspired from the comic when the school opens up to hedge magicians and the tensions that arise a a result.

      3. Fuck it all. Don't do magic.

    • RE: Magicy Shenanigans - high fantasy or more modern

@Ominous I've been reading the Cross Gen comics again and have been inspired by the myth arc of The First and the world of Mystic. It could definitely play out as a cool L&L type game, but you're right, people seem to be yearning for Brakebills. I could get in on either action, which is why I'm crowdsourcing the answer!

Now, what systems would we use?

For the earlier idea, I could see Dark Ages Mage being used or just say scrap the system and make something from scratch or jigger up some Ares thing.

What would be best for Magicians/Brakebills/Fillory?

I like Hero System in general, but magic in it has always been clunky. Not to mention, coding all that for a MUSH would be a PITA.

    • RE: Golden Road Pivoting to Contagion Chronicles

@ganymede Contagion Chronicles is multi-splat settings for the Chronicles of Darkness.

      The premise is as follows:
Different realities interact with one another. When that happens, a contagion starts to happen changing the rules (of the game or the just fundamental physics of the world) in ways that the characters have to figure out wtf is going on. There are two factions: The Sworn (people against the Contagion) and the False (people who are for the Contagion). They all have their own reasons for working together in these factions made of different splats.

I think it's an interesting premise for a multisplat game where there's no real antagonist or protagonist from a good/bad point of view. It's just a matter of is that contagion in this reality good or bad for your group in general?

Does that make sense? I hope I didn't ramble too much.

@greenflashlight I don't know the other splats, so I wouldn't run it. However, there is room in my ideas for other splats since I have crazy things happening to them alongside the mages. I'd just want someone more knowledgeable than me to sanity check it. Make sense?

So I have caught up on the latest and greatest in X-Men. House of X and Hellfire Gala are amazing. I'd love to see a game based on this current setting. Anyone down to build it? I have code if you need it for a superhero game.

    • Do people still MU*?

I know I took a break from MUing. I'm looking for a place to play, and so I was wondering, do people still MU*?

There's no more posts on the reg here (or at the other place) about MUSHes. There's no stories about things (outside of Arx) that seem to be engaging. People aren't advertising their games. People aren't bitching about corrupt staff.

Is anything going on in the MU* world? Hello? Anyone? Bueller?
