      I love Deadly Class.

I especially loved the third episode where you learn that the two punkers are not as badass as the unassuming homeless kid who had to actually deal with the harsher aspects of being the low-low-lowest class.

Saya and María are great, too.

    • RE: Hunter, Mortal+ -- fuck the supers?

I would do away with the compacts and conspiracies and then let storytellers make NPC monsters with the Dread Powers from "Mortal Remains" (which is the book you were referencing). Let each individual hunter decide what their moral compass is regarding killing and not killing monsters.

@Auspice Netflix would rather give us shitty B-movies than quality series and once the subscriptions start dropping, they'll find out why stripping themselves of good content was a mistake.

Except it wasn't Netflix that canceled them, it was Marvel. Like, you rcritique wouldn't be wrong if it weren't contextually absolutely wrong.

      Oh! Double post. 🙂

In the past I've balked at picking PBs which 'match' someone else's if they were in a movie or something together. So for example if I was using Keeanu Reeves and someone I was planning on playing with a lot was using Carrie-Anne Moss it'd strike me as weird. Is it just me?

Also I don't much like using A-listers. But that's an overshadowing choice, I feel people would be thinking 'Harrison Ford' or 'George Clooney' not 'Cadric Drowkiller' when they looked at the page.

      "I don't like using A-Listes." [picks Jake Gyllenhaal] <.<

I like taking my time picking a PB. Sometimes it has to do with the roles they've portrayed and whether I think the actor could fit into my character's shoes--other times it has to do with some in-joke with a friend. There's usually a reason for my PBs, even if it's something unimportant, beyond "I just like the look".

While I always equated the term with someone who was born into the working class and remained in the working class, but led a productive, engaging, and healthy life, typically with values that relate to supporting their community and the rights of their class.

    • RE: Feelings of not being wanted...

Some people get butthurt because you play with them, but then don't go out of your weay to invite them to a scene that is highly specific (say, an Embrace, or a First Change, or one of those). And they see you and other people (likely who are more tightly knit to your character's narrative than they) playing and ask "is there room for one more", but there really are enough people in the scene as it is and one more would be a slog (or disrupt the narrative; or be one too many for one or more people currently in the scene, or any other reasonable reason). So when you say "i think we're full up", suddenly you're an exclusionary jackass and the whole game is horrible, or something.

      You know, perspective.

@AeriaNyx The level of second-hand awkwardness in the latest Orville made me turn it off, because it's difficult for me (the Gordon storyline, basically) and I love me some Leighton Meester. I will eventually go back and watch it. But it hit me hard.

It only leaves them generic if the players don't have the wherewithal to give their characters depth beyond "rawr i r shepsheeftur". If you can establish some parameters for each type that are immutable and leave the rest in player hands, that can be a great source of RP when it comes to two shapeshifters that do the same thing discussing and debating why each think they are right, or comparing and contrasting their beliefs, trying to suss out the truth.

I don't have time to rant about them right now, as I already made an EFFORT POST about Promethean, but I second Manu's love for Exalted, as well as suggest Shadowrun.

A pair of games people may not know so well that are getting new editions "soon"

Scion is a game about Mythology and the modern world. Scion lets you play the children of Gods from various historic Pantheons. At its base power level, it is mildly superhuman, maybe around the level of Xena: Warrior Princess. As the game released new supplements, they increased the power level to be more and more mythical, to the level of juggling battleships and smiting continents.

Trinity Continuum was a trio of games from White Wolf in the late 1990s. They cover three time periods and different settings and genres that are linked in being a single universe, told in reverse. It starts with Trinity, a Science-Fiction game of action and intrigue in the 22nd century where you play a Psion, specifically created psychics with the power to protect the human race from themselves, hostile aliens, and worst of all, the Aberrants. Aberrant is set in the dawn of the 21st century, and is a gritty take on superhumans. It is a game of hope and godlike power with a dark side of taint, the saviors of this era become the monsters of the next. Adventure! is set in the 1920s, and is the first birth of extraordinary individuals. It is Pulp action, globe trotting excitement.

Can't wait for these, man. Cannot wait.

@Arkandel That would be an awesome relationship. Especially for vampires, who literally CAN nurse grudges into eternity.

I always wanted a Professor X/Magneto relationship - where two people who were very close personally had been split by ideology, and were each passionately committed to destroying the works of the other...all the time hoping that "winning" would make the other person realize that they were Right All Along and they could be besties again.

Dibs on the Ordo Dracul vs. your ... honestly, the Order can be an ideological enemy to just about any other Covenant. >.>

But they're all vampires. And vampires are terrible. 😛

      So picky.

I'm a picky bitch, it's true! I just never got into the appeal of playing Vampire. At least, as it seems to be played on MU*s. I can see the appeal of the scrappy, newly-dead trying to maintain sanity in the face of an eternity spent playing meaningless political games with corpses that literally have nothing better to do with their lives.

I have never been able to understand the appeal of playing the corpses that literally have nothing better to do with their lives than meaningless political games, and...that's the game.

      All right. Mage then? [ducks]

Only if I get to throw some goddamned fireballs.

Changeling, then. I woudln't want Paradox to outshine me as your nemesis.

Hell yeah. Changeling crazy is the best crazy, and I get to throw goddamned fireballs.

You probably would have liked my first changeling on The Reach.

Probably! I stayed faaaaar away from that sphere during my brief time on the Reach, though. Seemed like too many people were going into it with the intent to reenact OOC grudges from previous games.

Yeah. That was a thing. I was ... sort of removed from it, but in the middle. Because reasons. >.>

They're being too clever for their own good. Humans love right angles. We surround ourselves with them even though they're unnatural.
      Behold the bane of Dracula!

Response to an older post, but:

This is the vampire conceit behind Peter Watts' Blindsight and Echopraxia. His vampires are a subspicies of humans that evolved a protein deficiency that required predation on other human beings. They developed significant strength, sociopathy, hypersavantism, and the ability to hibernate when prey was scarce to make themselves able to survive as predators of human beings. They also developed, do to a quirk of their optical processing, a glitch where filling the majority of their visual field with intersecting lines triggers a fatal grand mal seizure.

Yes, this makes it impossible for vampires to survive around human settlements, which is why they went extinct.

I was going to comment this. XD

I think what we're all forgetting is how shitty @Shayd is in general, as evidenced by this and other threads on this forum.

So really, him saying that Custodius is a "nice guy offline" isn't really even anecdotal proof of anything, since Custodius could be a total fucking shitdick offline and there's no reason to believe @Shayd would be able to tell the difference.

Thus, arguing this with him is largely moot.
