    • RE: Experience Gain in nWoD 2.0 - An analysis and shit

      @Arkandel said:

      I'm not opposed to a diverse number of sources such as @Coin suggested. So maybe something this, based on your max earnable XP per time period.

      • a charity reward for very casual players so they can advance without playing regularly - say, counting for 25% of the max.
      • a vote reward for active, social players. It's by far the easiest method even if it becomes a popularity contest - being popular and out there still counts. Another 25%.
      • a submission system similar to GMC's Beast so you can demonstrate significant things took place through a quick explanation ('I punched Hemi in the face and resolved my Fuck That Guy Condition') for 25%.
      • A PrP-running/participation system for people who dislike having to do bar scenes or whose schedules are easier to fit within an +event than looking for RP hoping there's a scene around. 25%.

      There could be something to this.

      I would allow for overlap. Instead of each thing being worth 25% each, they could be 30%, with 100% being the maximum.

    • RE: nWoD2.0 Support Code?

      IMO, code doesn't necessarily need a functional purpose beyond 'it's comfortable' or 'accessibility', really.

      You can set up a google calendar to let you know when you have to re-up your monthly ritual or whatever, too, but having +remindme code is still something that would make that massively more useful. You can keep a notepad file full of your relationship notes, but having a +relationship code that lists them and the little blurbs you right would be way more convenient. The list goes on.

      There is no "perfect system". i also don't believe that @Sunny is "bad at design" because of the system she chose to enforce what she wants. It's just a different desire. I've played in places where I disagreed with the policy even more than I do this one, so it's no big for me, and it really shouldn't be for anyone else. Just her (and whomever is actually putting effort into it with her). If they want it to. If they don't, that's good, too.

    • RE: nWoD2.0 Support Code?

      It seems to me like the problem is when these things are made mandatory, rather than by choice, generally.

      Also, let's not forget that this, like all things in life, basically, when you live in civilized (for certain definitions thereof) society, is cyclical. What was once popular and then was not will be again.

      Maybe people are just into this stuff again and it'll die back out later. That happens with pretty much everything ever.

      @Catsmeow

      It literally does not matter how the staff member is behaving, for answering his question. Nobody's jumping on him, it just so happens that the answer to the question he asked isn't the one he hoped for. Taking that as unreasonable criticism or people being aggressive is pretty ridiculous.

      It isn't inherently mean to answer a 'how do I' with a 'you can't'.

      @Luna, I don´t know, because I've never been to AmberMUSH, and in fact only read the first Amber novel maybe two years ago. I also wrote this a few years before I even start MUing at all. It's still around on my wikipage on the ExaltedWiki, IIRC.

      Her Argentine is horrible, she stresses completely wrong, lol. I assume her other accents are equally flawed in hilarious ways.

      @Jennkryst, yeah. And NYC was most navigable because Manhattan is, when you get down to it, a straight(-ish) line. (This is also the reason Manhattan was a valid location for "The Warriors", while L.A. definitely... isn't.)

      Two things:

      1. That was pretty great, I love filk and this was really on-point skills-wise;
      2. The absolute irony of a group of six white dudes co-opting something created by and starring a cast of multi-racial people of color as a parody to reference a Christmas story about how differences are worth mockery unless they're useful is just... I think it's a bit intense. Lol.

      And the best line I read in Reddit:

      "RIP Cap's beard!"
      "Why, did the snap kill Shanon?"

      Literally the only thing that was a surprise in all of that was Cap's beard being missing, and her name is Sharon. Gawd.

      @Bennie Mummy: the Curse. It was out before Demon. But it breaks the conventional power stat/fuel stat of everything else in nWoD.

      Mummy: The Curse is not second edition. It was out before Demon as the last corebook that came out before they started the swap. It doesn't use the rules from second edition (i.e. God-Machine Chronicles). Not only that, but it breaking the conventional Supernatural Tolerance/fuel trait, as you mentioned, make it incompatible with other game lines to the point that Mage looks like a welcome fit.

      So no, no Mummy. However, I fully welcome you to start your own Mummy: The Curse game. While I'm not sure it would be all that popular, I'm positive the people who would play would thoroughly appreciate the opportunity, at least.
