    • RE: Comfort Food...

Gulab jamun are magic. I just wish I was a good enough cook to make them, so I didn't have to get delivery from the local Indian places for a far more exorbitant price than I suspect they cost to make.

Also: two eggs over easy, rye toast for dipping in the egg yolk, and well-cooked (crispy) home fries. Orange marmalade for the rye toast (seriously, it's good!) when the egg yolks are gone.

@roz OK, I just caught mention of it in other places here, although it seemed to be of the "rocks fall, everyone dies" theme. No worries.

(lack of printing presses aside, which strikes an odd note in my brain but I've accepted).

I had to handwave that today about books, and just had the PC say something about how it "takes time" to produce a book, because that's true even through the era of early print and typesetting, anyway. Go figure.

@ribbon It's a paragraph, but a short one at that! So all good.

Journals are, in fact, considered IC material.

@Roz and @Darinelle too: just wrote a journal! (Apparently I accidentally wrote one before, but this one was intentional.) I hope brevity and terrible puns are OK.

Oh, also a question: if someone can page/PM me with the Discord channel, I'd be interested in taking a look, though I doubt it'll be my cup of tea. Thanks!

@kanye-qwest Oh no, I totally see the point of +shop for crafters, to alleviate the pressure of "Oh God, another holocaust cloak?" or what have you -- but it could (though not would!) probably be gamed in this way by the PC who wanted something crafted to avoid RP and just get the shiny for Prestige/NPC bonus, which made me nervous about potential misuse.

ETA: coming at it as a current WoDer/occasional Star Wars and the like player with not so much facility with code-heavy stuff, I should add. I apped something on Firan at least a decade ago, and never got through chargen.

As a newbie but as the person who brought it up, I'll also third @Lisse24 and @dontpanda on being wary about coded clothing affecting stuff. It personally strikes me as a hindrance to promoting solid RP to let codes handle the work of what should be RPable, even vis-a-vis NPCs. I mean, from my understanding, I could go to a crafter, use +shop to avoid all RP after the initial interaction, and get a Level 10 NPC-Affecting Fantastic Cloak of Awesomeness, but where's the RP in that and, moreover, around that? It'll net you people posing their clothing at length and little meat beyond that, I think.

We have a winner. This worked, even as 'p der' instead of 'page der.' Thanks, all!

@thesuntsar Point! I just have been approached for a couple of investigations and have another couple open from jump. Since my PC is a "detective," I wondered if that might be reflected in having more investigative slots and hence more IC ability to juggle and prioritize investigations.

@roz No problem! Just in reading the thread, "non-investigative PC has investigative retainers" might box my PC out a bit, as a worry. But he's totally getting retainers when I can afford it. It just will be a bit of a wait, according to my social AP.

    • RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning

Side thought: as an investigate-heavy PC with no retainers and at least a week or two's wait before being able to get any, it would be cool if investigate-heavy PCs could have another slot opened up to @investigate or @helpinvestigate, especially while we don't have any retainers to do the dirty work for us.

@griatch Please drop me a PM when it's fixed, because paging foobartholicuses all over the place is something I mess up about 25% of the time (so lazy, and so my instinct is to shorten the name).

Edit: Caught the fix! A bit easier, but I can't use equals signs with that, which is also instinctive. Still would like to be able to p der=Test and page der=Test, because that's where my instinct goes.

You must use the same $-markers both in the nick and in the replacement.

@roz I know who you are from this thread. Hi! Thanks for all the answers to questions on info-chan.

And OK, that makes more sense for the journaling. Private journaling, absolutely he'd do, but I was having my trouble wrapping my head around "why would the PC share his opinions for all and sundry?". I'll have to come up with some stuff that's less "Here are my opinions on other PCs!" and the like, though, because... yeah, not so much.

If your character is a history nerd or the investigating sort? There's some motivation for journals

Yes to the latter part, at least. But I'm not sure what sort of stuff would be appropriate to publicize. Certainly I don't want to put "HERE IS A @CLUE" in there, if they're considered public IC, and he'd probably keep his opinions on people close to the vest. Do you mind giving an example of something that might be more likely? Thanks.

(Edit: Roz kind of covered that bit, too. Thanks, @Aria!)
