      @Tinuviel

      It’s not that.

It’s that her comment puts me in a bind.

If she said anything about cupcakes, I missed it. But I didn’t hear it. If I heard it, why the fuck would I get cheesecake?

I tried to reach her. Called her phone twice. Nothing. Why? She was bathing the kids. Perfectly reasonable.

So either she’s a liar and didn’t say shit? Or I am forgetful, but I don’t remember hearing shit. And am still the asshole.

Why say anything? No reason, unless she wants to start a fight. And starting a fight with me is instant death. She may have been a lawyer once, but I still am.

It’s fucking irritating. Just say nothing. No one will care at the office. This just invites a fight.

Me: “So, I did all the errands, but they were out of brownies. So I got cheesecake.”
      Her: “Oh.”
      Me: “ ... “
Her: “I told you to get cupcakes if they didn’t have brownies.”
      Me: “When?”
Her: “When we were at the Christmas show with the kids.”
      Me: “ ... “

Being in a committed relationship is like death by a thousand fucking paper cuts. I want to scream and shout, but the fuck I’ll take some karaoke and bourbon.

Edit: I don’t do favors for anyone else. I don’t. I’m not a servant or a slave. Be damn grateful if your partner does your errands for your office party, people, especially if they can do everything else around the house without you.

It’s almost as if teachers are professionals and should be treated that way.

      Being both, I concur.

It is invariably due to attorney neglect. We have a duty to ensure attorney-client communications and work product remain confidential. We also have a duty to represent our clients zealously, which means taking advantage of every opportunity to promote our client’s interests.

      Peeve:

Opposing counsel who leave confidential information in their produced documents.

Oh, sure, that seems like an advantage, but it isn't. It leaves me with two choices: (1) giving the stuff back and being called a wuss by my client; or (2) refusing to point out the error and being called an asshole by opposing counsel.

If people did their fucking jobs, this wouldn't be a moral dilemma.

I'd be more inclined to put it into a game that supports people regardless as opposed to one that's gonna sneer at me anytime I'm not heavily active.

You get used to it after a while.

I have long-petitioned for flat XP-gain games. Dark Water was once such game. I also have played on games which have slow-advancement times. BSG:U is one such place.

I have to admit that the places which provide an incentive for engaging in RP seem more busy. Yet I get a lot of mileage out of games like Fate's Harvest and Marsilikos.

I think it just depends on expectations, as I said before. My expectations have changed over time. I may never be at the top of the food chain power-wise based on my activity, but I'm hardly ever short on RP partners when I'm looking for them.

I have a female relative that used to always complain about how she could never sleep unless she fell asleep before her husband because of his snoring and that she didn't snore. I took a poll of her grand kids asking them who snored louder between Grandma and Grandpa. Every single one, uncoached and unaware of the others answers, said Grandma. She stopped complaining but I don't think likes me very much for pointing it out.

Maybe she'll claim that she turned down the Time's Person of the Year award next.

The ones I've interacted with do, but the whole alt-right thing hasn't really made landfall over here.

Is anyone surprised that these douchebags are rehashing old shit as if it were new? I mean, John Cena has been using this sign for years.

Hell I came in fresh on F&L when your Wes and your Circle were in power as Jehanne and immediately started messing with what was going on, making alliances and making things difficult for the Circle, as my tiny little Jehanne (XP wise at the time at least).

The conceit behind all of that was:

      1. Wes was not working to enhance the Circle; he was working with his Clan to take the Circle out of power.

      2. Wes struck a deal with the Invictus.

      3. Wes was probably the least powerful (XP-wise) of the Circle.

      4. Wes was a twerp that did things to do things because he thought it would be interested or funny.

      5. Wes liked Jehanne just fine.

      I do miss the twerp.

      War for Cybertron Transformers figures.

Relatively inexpensive, beautifully made, and just challenging enough. My boy is digging it.

We just need to start buying more ‘Cons.

Edit: I wrote “‘Cons” and got auto-corrected to “Conservatives.”

To be fair, I do understand worries about being left behind, XP-wise, because power tends to inflate quickly, which prompts plot runners to make enemies nastier and nastier, until you can, essentially, be priced out of some plots.

      That's fair.

I just play outside of plots a lot. I'm not on a game just for the plots. I play for the drama, the lulz, the whatever. I'm hardly ever in plots, now that I think about it.

I realize I may be the only person.

If you have only 1-2 days a week you can RP and you know Bob over there, RPing daily, is hitting the XP cap every week and people are making it really obvious ('yeah you'll need like, 20 dice to be able to manage this PRP') that you NEED MORE XP......

Why the hell are you worried about Bob?

I used to be a huge advocate of flat advancement, but it was because I didn't want to fall behind XP-wise. No one likes to feel that way. But when I came to the conclusion that the disparity in XP is largely unimportant on most games, I stopped worrying about it.

XP did not help Wes get the Seneschal spot in Las Vegas. XP did not help Maddy take over a chunk of Portland's night scene. XP did not help Cai become Hierophant on RfK.

      I did that.

For a MUSH, I don’t really mind if the Aspiration system were pulled, but you really have to have Conditions for CoD to work properly.

I felt the need to forcibly pull the topic back on point here. There have been many suggestions and ideas, and criticism of the same.

But if you feel your point has been made, that’s fine. And if there’s nothing more that needs to be said, so be it.

But if something more is to be suggested, then I welcome that.

Short-term aspirations are directions that you want to take your character down. In role play, it can be as simple as “my NPC daughter wants to go dress-shopping.” Why? Because if you are a paranoid changeling going out in public can be an awful experience.

      Okay, okay.

So, for those of you for whom the system is not working — I don’t know who everyone is — what would you like a command to do?

What concerns do you have? How does the current toolset, if any, make you feel?

      I’d personally like to know.
