Probably nothing, like how Blue Lives Matter has nothing to do with actually supporting law enforcement.

Something about rock climbing, I’d wager.

For me, the stupider thing is the backlash.
Hear me out.
You and I both know that if a prosecutor makes a deal, you have a right to rely on it.
If a prosecutor offers immunity for testimony, the prosecutor should be expected to hold their word.
That’s what happened here, according to Pennsylvania’s highest court.
Imagine if they held otherwise.
Imagine how many people (of color) they would prosecute based on testimony given under the promise of immunity.
The blame for what happened should fall squarely on the prosecutor who made the promise in the first place.
Promising immunity for testimony in a civil case?
Absolute bullshit.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
I totally agree with you.
One of my kids has a serious neurological challenge. We have strategies for dealing with it. Those strategies have been fairly effective.
But I also know when and how she's being a jerk.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
I am not saying it cannot be brain chemistry. I'm saying that children can be truculent for no other reason than to be truculent.
If your position is that every child who refuses to do things that are hard or distasteful must suffer from ADD or ADHD, then, yes, citations needed.

RE: Movies worth a watch.
I cast Necromancy.
Anyhow, yeah, so, Luca is a delightful, watchable kids' movie about growing up. Unfortunately but predictably, it follows the usual Disney scheme for the title protagonist, while leaving behind the actually-interesting characters. In the end, I felt much more for Alberto, Giulia, and Massimo.
Edited to add: None of the above means that the movie is bad or sub-par. It's really good, and I like it a lot more than Frozen or Frozen 2.

That's fascinating. No privity of contract?
Promissory estoppel does not apply to public officials who make representations in office. Here, the former prosecutor promised not to prosecute if Cosby would testify at the deposition. That promise would not be binding upon his successor.
If it was in writing, that's a different story.
Frankly, I don't know why Cosby's attorney ever allowed his client to testify in a civil matter on issues which could give grounds to a criminal prosecution, regardless of what the prosecutor said. The Fifth Amendment is there for a reason, not the least of which is that you should never trust the prosecution.

It's hard to say this, but thankfully Ohio is more progressive in this respect; that promise from the predecessor would have been unenforceable.

And I'm hoping to find a fully remote position, because fuck the office.
I am sorry that this happened to you.
No matter how hard I try to be a good member of our management team, whatever credibility we have it seems gets undercut by other members who seem destined to act like the worst sort of boss you could imagine.

And because the only med that even halfway works is a benzo, I'm trapped on something that doesn't let me drink or smoke the devil's lettuce, which makes the parties I do have the spoons to get to a bit of a bummer, as I'm by default the sober person in the room.
You've probably heard this a million times already, but being sober doesn't mean you're a bummer.
By any measure of how you play, you're fun enough just the way you are.

RE: RL Anger
They aren't acting against their self-interest. They're very much acting in favor of it. Although we assume the existence of the program is a long-term benefit for them, that is hardly guaranteed.
I concur, but write separately.
Those living hand-to-mouth are worried about the short-term. Lowering taxes addresses a short-term need. Many of the positions billionaires take regarding budgets and strict spending correspond with their beliefs, which correspond with their lifestyles.
It's hard to sell a person on the idea of investing when they don't have enough each paycheck to pay the rent and eat.

Honest, while I didn’t see the relationship coming, it makes a whole lot of sense going through the last season, and I appreciate the leap that the writing crew made to do it.
